  1. From the away end didn’t look as if the ball crossed the line.

Enough has been said about that wee cretin Beaton, however, every time I’ve seen him there’s been bad decisions all game.

Webby should have scored in the first half, Lynn’s had a great chance and couldn’t make up his mind and ended up stumbling and taking a crap shot.  Rory pulled a shot. We had chances and didn’t take them.

After watching the highlights back Nesbit may of got a bit of the ball, but that was after he had wiped out the player.

Credit to Ross Matthews we all know his height might cause us problems but thought he had an assured enough game on his league debut, could of been more without his saves.

A couple of days to ponder over this one. We looked a bit rusty in the first half but, despite not scoring, a bit better in the second.
As everyone has said, highlight of the day was the display from Blair Murray  sorry, Blair Lyons. A very promising debut and he can only get better with a few more games under his belt.
Both full backs had good games and could well be our main attacking force this season.  Good to see Matty getting a full game and I'm sure we will be much stronger once Dillon and Foxy are back. Still screaming out for an out and out striker though. Hurry up and get Josh Skelly in there.

Foxy retired last season so won’t be back.

    Thanks for that.

Im real pleased Cammy is back.

I can’t make it to Cove either, holiday getting in the way.

McLean had a shite game last time we played Forfar, just wish he would be more aggressive.

The fact that Russell had a dislocated ankle last season seemed to play on his mind towards the end of the season.

Think a Full pre season in him and we will see a different player to that that finished the season

Agree, and you can add Paul Watson to that. He made a helluva a difference when coming on late season. Another I think did well was Webby who is I think sometimes under-rated. Always good to have a Webby in the squad as much as it's vital to always have a Hamish in the crowd!

Watch this space in regards Watson & Webby and contract announcements

Yes getting Cammy back is a good start but as well as looking at who else might come in we also need to be aware of who might go out. For instance Ryan Harrington will be going back to Aberdeen - hopefully we can have him back as he has the makings of a good centre back with Cammy alongside as RB. Ryan would need to drop down to part-time and that could be a problem unless he can't get a full time contract. Euan Henderson goes back to Hearts as well so we are lightweight with pace out wide. The other thing is that at least one of our players is attracting attention elsewhere and if that develops it would be a major problem for us. Best not to throw a name about though. A couple of more players are mid 30's now and might struggle - Sean Dillon for one - look at Queens second goal yesterday. Quite a bit of re-building still I think if we are firstly to maintain our strength but secondly increase our strength. I have confidence SP will do it but it won't be easy or quick.

Yes we have Euan returning to his parent club, however a fit CJ, Josh Skelly and Blair Lyons who have pace to burn.  Thank a full pre season with Martin and Rusty will see us going good up front.

Think a new goalie, 2 x centre halves and a midfielder who can pick out a pass and we will be laughing.  We do have an aging squad, however as proven by Terry Masson this year sometimes players improve as they get older.

  6. One result doesn’t make a bad season.  We came up against the best striker in Scotland yesterday.  Aye it’s a tough one to take, but let’s look at the positives

1st season out of the bottom league in over 23 years and to finish 4th

    The re-signing of Cammy

Players that would run through walls for each other

higher attendances and pride back in the town and community

SP stating this only the beginning

  7. The belief that SP has instilled in the players along with key appointments in his back room staff is the reason that we are where we are.  It would be great to have a Dobbie, McAllister or a player of that ilk playing for us, however we have honest hardworking pro’s that play for the shirt.

As for yesterday perhaps a game to far, we gave Dobbie far to much space and respect & he punished us.  Can’t fault the players for their efforts this season.  Have not missed a game since SP took over and have seen our travelling support grow and to have 281 down yesterday was fantastic.  The kids are happy today as my voice is near enough away.

Best of luck in the play off finals.

  8. This season has surpassed expectations would of snapped your hand off for eighth and a guaranteed 2nd season in the league. (This is what comes after 23yrs in the bottom league)

After a patchy first quarter and the team adjusting to the pace of the league it’s gone really well, aye there have been a few bad performances along the way, however this was to be expected.

Still got a minimum of 2 games to go and going to enjoy them and after Saturday if we have another 2 look forward to that.  Looking ahead to next season with Cammy coming ‘home’ and the signing of Lyons already announced can’t wait for it already whatever division we will be in

That relegation play off being introduced has had the desired affect on a club like Montrose. Good to see. Forced you to get your act together and from finishing bottom of the basement League now got a play off game against a team featuring Stephen Dobbie to potentially be in the same league as giants such as Dundee, United, Arbroath and Partick Thistle

    Fair play

Being club 42 had the desired effect, however it was giving SP a chance to be a manager that has pushed us on a lot quicker than even the most optimistic fan would of thought.  His professionalism in getting his back room staff sorted has been immense.  Throw in the togetherness of the squad it’s been a helluva ride.

Sorry in a way, things never took off for Lewis at R.R. Was initially gutted when he and Ballantyne left, meaning we were playing at a higher level than last season, without Temps or two of our better players. Felt Petrie really did the honourable thing by letting Milne, who had signed for the Mo, take a shot at full-time football. Excellent news for the Mo, that he's returning here.

Hope he proves his detractors at R.R. wrong by making an impact with us.

Any chance of Ballantyne coming back as well?

How do people see Milne fitting in with our current team? From memory, he seemed to score a few goals from set pieces last season.

It would have been great to have landed an out and out striker but anyone with a proven record of hitting the back of the onion bag, has to be a welcome addition, providing he can find a niche within the set-up.

Here's hoping Petrie can once again get the best from a player, where others have failed.

See Lewis playing in the number 10 role.

great to have him back and was a key player 2nd half of last season, some players for whatever reasons a move doesn’t work out, John Gemmell anyone?
