  1. making my first visit to The Rock tomorrow after numerous visits to Boghead. Looking forward to it off the back of a very good performance against Stenny last week, hopefully build on that and not do 'a Montrose' and follow that performance with a poor one. Ryan Williamson coming on to the player we hoped he'd be, Kane hopefully got the scent for goals after opening his account for the season, big players coming back form injury, all looking promising.
  2. also found the decision to segregate this fixture a bit strange Not overly confident going in to this match, Stenny off the back of 2 impressive results and Montrose..........not! Both of the last 2 defeats were after starting brightly then not taking chances and the inevitable 'concede at the other end' scenario. Not sure what the best striking lineup should be for us, MacIver Redwood has impressed me, strong in the air, Lyons play off him maybe? Hester has missed, or not even reacted to, some favourable opportunites so far this season, hopefully it takes ones to go in off his arse to get him up and running. Appreciate he is also just back from injury but also can't help wondering if League 1 is a step too far for him? Maybe we don't play to his strengths either, who knows
  3. do you really think Hartley will get the bullet if Montrose beat you this weekend? Can you afford to sack him, and will Sheran want to risk the wrath of his daughter?
  4. Never had much opportunity to do anything, came on whilst we were defending for out lives! Have also heard good things about him
  5. Yes, came in towards the end of the game, hard to make any impact when Montrose were defending for the draw
  6. Would have taken a point up in Inverness before a ball was kicked so more than happy with a battling point after playing the second half with 10 men. Dillon’s second yellow was fair, but thought the first was harsh. great finish by Hester for the opener and Cammy gill made a good save tipping onto the post to keep us ahead at the break. He continued where he left off in the second half with a couple of really good saves. we were always going to be under the cosh for second half, good finish from Adam Mackinnon (who I rated highly during his loan spell with us) after a good build up levelled it but we defended well after that. Last few minutes Caley seemed happy to play sideways 35 yards out. can Caley afford to sack big dunc? Major slide in place just now considering just over a year ago you were playing in the Scottish cup final. Worrying times I would think? credit to the much maligned Ryan Williamson who was outstanding second half, defending well and being an out ball for counter attacks. onwards to QOS next week for the televised game, Dillon will be a big miss but would like to see Craig Smith start rather than moving Steeves inside to centre half
  7. quite well known that funding is limited at the moment, ideally we need an extra 100 on each home gate. Although we have 2 home games against Arbroath, that's still way down on what Falkirk, Dunfermline and the likes brought in
  8. very impressed with Luke Graham, very strong and controlled player who played with more experience than his years. His distribution was a bit dodgy to begin with but that really improved over the season. He'll be a huge miss for us, unsure if he'll maybe still go on loan to a full time team next season?
  9. There's car parking at the ground, or plenty of side streets near the ground
  10. Can confirm the police stood and did nothing, leaving 2 female stewards to run after the bus trying to stop the bottles and stones being thrown at the bus. I have seen video footage and pictures and can confirm the large pie eating youth was the ringleader as for the game, one to easily forget for Montrose. Worst I’ve seen in a long time, with Stirling winning due to being slightly less poor than us
  11. I would imagine finance played a big part in that. We were never going to make a permanent signing in the window and perhaps the bigger clubs wanted full payment of wages for anyone going out on loan
  12. It wasn’t our sub keeper, it was Alex Balfour. Very bad from what I’ve heard, ankle seemingly round the wrong way
  13. Seems my attendance comment has opened up a can of worms. By no means was it meant to be a competition, and our attendances have certainly gotten smaller this season. As many people have mentioned or questioned is how Cove manage to continue a hybrid model with a smaller gate income, but as has been mentioned in this thread, income is raised with the likes of corporate hospitality etc
  14. Great result for Montrose, full points from back to back 6 pointers is just amazing. As good as Montrose were, Cove were rotten. Could and maybe should have been 5 up at the break. Couldn’t fault anyone in the Montrose squad, good to see another couple of youngsters coming off the bench How poor are the crowds at cove? Ok, we’re not much better but Montrose must have had more fans there than Cove? On to next week and a very winnable match v Annan
  15. What a game! It had nearly everything. Could have gone either way I guess but Montrose just that bit more clinical in front of goal. No idea what the straight red was for, was it a kick out or dissent? I was fearing the worst when Sammon came on, thought he was bound to score and then thought Alloa’s keeper had snatched a draw at the end. Another massive game next week against cove to look forward to. Hopefully Luke Graham’s injury isn’t too serious. Lastly, hope all is well with our elderly fan who suffered what appeared to be a medical emergency in the second half and was stretchered away
  16. the loan window is open until the end of February. I don't think getting Miller back would be out of the question, he hasn't featured in the Dundee United squads since returning to them. I guess in any loan deal it'll all depend on how much of a wage contribution we are expected to make
  17. Any official highlights so we can actually see the action?
  18. unfortunately the postponement doesn't help getting the suspensions over with quickly
  19. Cammy F Ballantyne being released by St Johnstone by the looks of it, worth a punt??
  20. looking forward to this match. At the time of the draw I was more optimistic than now, Morton have put together a decent spell of form since the draw now though. Be interesting to see what team Montrose can put out, not sure who is/isn't injured or suspended
  21. Usually we do it all at the end of the window. With Towler going back to Aberdeen and Thomson back to United I’d hope to see 2 other loan players come in at least
  22. Thoroughly deserved victory for Queens. Montrose were simply horrific. 4th goal was a screamer, I was fortunate or unfortunate from a Montrose point of view to see if was arriving into the top corner from the moment it left his boot. Petrie had the wrong team out there, albeit we have injuries. Only pleasing aspect was 3 of the under-18s getting a decent run out in the second half
