It would be nice if Steve Brown could give the Saints supporters a bit more clarity on this issue. He is set to leave the SPL board, deciding not to stand for re-election again, but how this can be interpreted is anyone's guess.
Steve indicated he would leave the Board and not seek re-election many weeks ago after he received intimidating email from 'anonymous' at the point of the first vote on SPL membership for the newco. He argued and won the principle that it was a decision that should be taken by all share-holding clubs. He has been fairly disenchanted by the whole SPL affair and the way that smaller clubs have beenpressurised and so delegated Dircetor Stan Harris to vote at the last crucial meeting. SJFC have been consistently a 'no vote' throughout and although communication to fans has not always been perfect,it has been principled.

Is this old news?
Old news SJFC told fans forum several weeks ago of a NO vote. It was given to the press on Friday. Richard Wilson ran it then in the Herald, Dundee Courier front paged it with a photo of the Dalai Lama. So Wilson must now be writing it again for group paper Evening Times. He does write for both.
SJFC Chairman is in Switzerland for Euro Draw later today. European football - life moves on when your a 'big' team.

For the first time I am hearing Club12 being described as something other than Rangers.
Northsound News are stating if the SPL vote goes against Rangers on 4th July Club12 are likely to be Dundee.
It's a small start but hopefully more and more the MSM will recognise that Club12 on the fixture lists is not any specific team.
Spot on - I think the fixtures can be interpreted in various ways. Take a look at the Xmas and New Year Fixtures. They suit Dundee, Dundee Utd and St Johnstone equally - if not more - than Sevco Rangers. Many people have looked at the Boxing Day fixtures and imagined the tradional old firm fixture and then screamed 'conspiracy'. But take a look at the New Year fixtures.
If Club 12 is Dundee then its every bit as credible with derbies for - Dundee Utd v Aberdeen, Dundee v Aberdeen and St Johnstone v Dundee.

Utter mince. St Johnstone usually press release to Perthshire Advertiser and Courier and generally get ignored in the Daily Record. In the history of the club I have never known us to send press statements to the Manchester Evening News, or for that paper to show any interest in our existence. This is clearly from Croft's agent or Croft himself and not SJFC. We offered a deal to Jody Morris who has left for Bristol and so if the club chose to do so could fund Croft's signing. He would need to take a significant drop in salary from his days at Derby and rightly so. So utter mince and as 7-2 says propaganda. Move along nothing to see here.

In the case of St Johnstone LESS home fans than normal attend as a consequence of Rangers/Celtic visiting !
On the last day of the season St Johnstone, on the verge of European qualification had Rangers as visitors crowd 6500. Our last Euro day was versus Dundee who also had something to play for attracted a full house north of 10,000. Rangers seriously over estimate their value.
Moral is that competitive games attract crowds and Dundee are the answer to every question

Not sure if he will sign for another club as he has had problems relating to a car accident when he suffered head injuries. He has never made a fuss about it and carried. The 1 positive to come out of the PLG fiasco and wish him all the best wherever he ends up.
..Not so - St Johnstone knocked you out of the cup that was positive...

What I can't comprehend about all this is the stance of clubs like St. Johnstone. St. Johnstone, St. Mirren, ICT and Dunfermline have all had significant periods in the First Division in recent years where there's no TV money, no OF, no Aberdeen, no Hearts, no Hibs and they all survived. Now all they are being asked to do is survive 3 seasons (at most) without one half of the OF and St. Johnstone are coming out with 'we NEED Rangers in the SPL!'. That's clearly pish. You want Rangers in the SPL, it's more valuable with them in it, I can accept that. What I can't accept is being lied to and treated like a fucking mug. If Stewart Gilmour comes out and says he's in favour of keeping Rangers in the SPL because he's in the process of selling his shares and he wants the best price possible then fair enough, I might not agree with it but I'd respect the honesty. What I can't be arsed with is all the nonsense about how we'd die a slow lingering death without RFC, that's a fucking lie
I'm not sure you know what St Johstone think as the Board has not officially pronounced on it. Steve Brown has passed comment and he was unambiguous about the fact that St Johnstone could comfortably survive without Rangers and there is abundant evidence to that fact, not least that they have been in a different division for many years one they sadly had to share with Dundee, Livingston and Gretna - the three degrees of fiduciary incompetence. So yes St Johnston can thrive. You are basing your comments on what Steve Brown said in relationship to other SPL clubs, and in his capacity as an SPL board member where he is required to think of the commonwealth of the SPL not just St Johnstone. He has been placed in a difficult predicament where he has to represent a diverse set of views not just SJFC. Saints have cash at the bank, a great trading record unfortunately that us not true of Hearts, Killie or Dunfermline. So at least attack the source of the problem - leveraged debt - and not SJFC. Otherwise back on topic

St Johnstone - Our net spend is on a par with last year and up on our time in First Division. But not sure what that is a measure of I'd prefer to see us reduce wages by 20% and on balance think that SPL clubs were spending way to much on squad wages - cut backs of 25% would be rational irrespective of SPL TV deals or who is in the league.
