  1. i think what is so gripping and wonderfully done about this, is we know where he ends up and it is like watching a car crash. Think the writers have wporked this web well, quite keen to go back and watch bb and see 'saul' in a new light and see how it adds up.

have to admit i thought Glenfiddich 12yr  was a bit of a brand, but bloody hell it is nice smooth stuff. Glenmorangie is overpriced for what it is and certainly wouldn't try glenalba in a pub as it is likely £50-60 a bottle retail lol but bet it tastes sweet as, hide that one from the mates. Late night nice sunsets a wee treat i would think.

  3. Still not giving much away with that trailer. I think the blue eye at the end is just paying lip service to the fan theories this whole world is set inside a giants blue eye.

Either winter has arrived at Kings landing or Cersei has taken up the crack pipe.

With all the build up i have a horrible feeling this season might be a let down as they will rush through many storylines in the alloted 7 episodes.

  4. ok now i am a book w****r having waded through all the books... and wow the tv series really is an awful adaptation of the book. They obviously have restrictions they cant bring to the screen. So many characters are completely misrepresented, and despite the tv series running ahead they have missed so many great traits to so many people. Not sure i will watch the next episodes as i would prefer to see the books from Martin first although not sure he will complete them before he dies or i do :(

  5. managed to get the bookset for 23 squids on amazon.. Used.. normally i wouldn't buy a bogey ridden earleafed set of books, but they were all spanking new and untouched, the box set thing is ruined, but don't really care too much for that.

So i would say two things, wow the books really are different from the TV series yet i am only on 3rd book, i really think if you are fan of series, you should start to read them. Each character is different, and there is much more time to find out more about their journeys.

Second thing, if you are looking for literary genius here this is not it. The language is simple, repetitive and full of mistakes that take you out of 'book' as you try to re read  and comprehend what is being said. Martin obviously has a great amount of ideas swirling around his head, but often you are left thinking you are reading some trash magazine article written by two or three different people. There is many moments you can almost feel his lack of creativity as he re grasps past chapters of this story, and the brick walls hit the reader.

It is a struggle at times and without the tv series in my mind i might have put down the books, in the same vain as i would say Dan Browns books were written. Martin however, often finds his writing stride and delights for a hundred pages or more, and there is no blocks and the world he sees unfolds perfectly on the pages in front of you. The characters we know from the tv series mould to Martins visions and you read another 100 pages and another. It is a wonderfully interwoven web of storytelling, and may the old gods, the new gods of the seven, and the lord of light forgive my slight on the words written against ser Martin,

For the night is dark and full of horrors.

  6. tbf here the Gers fans have not taken the bait in general, and most on here seem quite genuine  in just being happy to be back in top flight. Sadly the MSM make every tiny detail about them some big story. They finally have a decent manager and good crop of good young players that will benefit the scotland squad, time to let go of the abuse P+B i would say, Hibees are just bitter now they are part of a league that really is just second rate now. :)

  7. So long to wait for next series :( but the way this episode went and previous ones, it wouldn't be so frustrating if that was just the end. Unlike other cliffhanger endings that have gone before they could really just end it here.

Quite glad try are reducing the number of episodes which will hopefully up the quality per episode, i just cant see them topping the last two episodes, but will be delighted if they do :)

  8. I know its entertainment and suspension of disbelief etcetc, but that was utterly preposterous tosh.

john snow is the worst general ever, fictional and non fictional, deserved to be defeated a thousand times over^

^ umm hmm not watched many episodes have you?

  9. on third watch, think the end scene was a throw back to the first episode with Bran being told to not look away or father will know, by i think JS, Sansa turned away and then back to watch showing her move to 'manhood' as ned would have viewed it all those series back.Unconvinced by the whole pregnant theory thing by ramsey, if so burn it burn it with fire, but thinking back there is a few references to her womb etc by ramseys GF and in sansa feeling him insde her and what he said before he got chowed by the dogs. It doesnt fit in the time line but she has been lookng a tad peaky and hiding herself under big clothes, so maybe a kind of stroy they have built but may use or not.

  10. So having watched again some things have become clearer. Still a great episode but quite a lot of holes in it, and i think that is really to do with it coming away from the books and making spectacular TV and maybe missing some of the finer touches and subtleties the books provided as source material.

Ramsey was brilliant, and really showed what a good tactician he was compared to JS.

Last scene bugged me a bit Sansa wasn't there when Ramsey was going on about not feeding his dogs for 7 days, but a fitting ending for him.

The arrival of the dothraki at mereen was quite convenient as was the greyjoys, although why they didnt help in the battle if they were so nearby? all seemed a bit shoehorned in.

When the bolton army surrounded them, surely oneone could have grabbed a couple of spears and made a sizeable hole, and why no giant axe or sword or something?

Anywho that is just nitpicking, really enjoyed that and opens up next week and the goings on at kingslanding, and maybe Bran, and the big reveal in flashback of Neds sister in the tower...

  11. really the best hours tv/film i have seen in a long time, really brilliant episode, so worth the wait and the lessening of other episodes. Just amazeballs :thumsup2

  12.  was pretty bemused by that episode. did they blow a massive chunk of the budget on bar steward bowl next week, hence the slightly lacking last few episodes. it feels rushed and unfinished a bit, reason why i stopped watching flash, build up, build up. build up, then the aftermath.

GOT used to have shock value, now you dont even get that.
