I’d love to know what these debts are, I think the new chairman started with 120k in the bank in Jan 2023 and no bills outstanding.

Remember your mates left the club on the brink of insolvency in 2020, it was far far worse then than it is now.

The previous Chairman took on the job with £76k in the bank in January 2020, no loans, no debts and far, far less ongoing commitments and no contract obligations beyond the end of that season. What followed was a clever campaign to convince fans that the club was going under and they had to put their hands in their pockets to keep it afloat. The current Chairman inherited so many contracted players that he was on a hiding to nothing from the outset - it was always going to be unsustainable and only a matter of time before it reached the cliff edge.

Mr Believer, after Saturday the club will be valueless, JB wants full control which he believes he will get, part of his plan is to bring back JH, that is why JH has not taken up another managerial role, contact JH on social media and he will tell you he is on gardening leave, the board didn't have the money to compensate him, he just stepped aside and will be reinstated when the dust settles.

In answer to your question; no, I am not a BRFC director, I did get this information from a reliable source who has been associated for a long time, I was shocked by this revelation and as  I am no supporter of JB, it needs to be aired to the public, JB is not the person to take this club forward in any capacity let alone chairman.

I try very hard to let the flow of Pie and Bovril wash over me, as too often comments can be economical with the truth or just plain way off the mark, but on this occasion I'm going to challenge your outright lies, and question why, in recent weeks, there appears to have been a very deliberate attempt to discredit me as a potential Chairman before I've even taken up the post.

I've put forward a model for the future which works towards a sustainable club based on many more people/businesses each making a small contribution. The aim is to 'wash our face' as a Club, as an organisation losing money each year is a poor option for inward investment. If an investment only goes towards reducing losses for a year, then little remains to actually improve matters, be it team or facilities.

Maybe that's not the model that some people want, but to plant this kind of nonsense doesn't improve the situation at all.

    This.

Here's my analysis of it from Berwick's perspective:

... working on their £10 per ticket average, and our Board's 50% comment, our matchday ticket income is about £5,000.

    ... currently we get 18 games v proper clubs = £90,000.

... under the proposal we get 13 games v proper clubs = £65,000.
This takes no account of possible reduction in crowds through disillusionment, nor lower Season Ticket sales (given 6 of 19 home games are v 'B' teams)

... cheque in lieu of away tickets = £15,000.

... our remaining 6 games are against 'B' teams. Away fans have already got their tickets. Lets say the home support (450) is down by 2/5 (270) = £16,000.
Evidence from the Challenge Cup suggests home crowds may actually fall considerably more than 2/5.

    ... final total = £96,000.
This takes no account of reduced sales of car parking, 50/50 draw tickets, programmes, food and drink at lower-attended games.

So what we're actually looking at is just £6,000 and then only if none of the bold happen. If it does - it's break-even or more likely a loss. (There is a small bus saving from 3 fewer away games).

As soon as the cheque is withdrawn it becomes a definite loss - considerable if the bold happen.

Obviously the principle of the idea is the primary objection... but even if not, the practicality in supposed financial benefits seems like total fantasy anyway.

To concur with another poster - the sums are way off the mark. Budgeted gate revenue for Berwick Rangers is £1500 per league game, or £27,000 across 18 fixtures. That takes into account that a typical league gate of around 400 people includes season ticket holders, junior fans getting free entry, adult admissions and concessions (and given Berwick's age demographic of fans, the concessions are a very significant number).  Therefore the comment that £15K represents more than 50% of our budgeted income.  Our total revenue from gate admissions and season tickets for the financial year ending May 2017 (PLC Profit and Loss Account 2017) was £58,549, and that includes all cup competitions and friendlies.
