Given that you have/had a weird pathological drive to go to Cliftonhill, you won't like it. It's a nice stadium.
Don't mock Cliftonhill. It's bottled nostalgia in a football ground.

The lower two divisions of the SPFL are only there because the voting structure makes it impossible to jettison them.
Well they do act as a safety net for when Rangers go bust.

I’m really hoping it’s on. I’ve never been before and it’s a ground I’ve long wanted to tick off.
For those of us long in the tooth it's wonderfully nostalgic of the football grounds of our youth.

I'd say the run of form CT produced in the Championship before succumbing to injury and fitness issues is probably the most complete I've seen from any Sons midfielder. For a few months he was untouchable.
Watching Morocco's Safyan Amrabat at the World Cup I was reminded of Chris Turner....
(It might have been the bald head though.)

Results are important, of course they are, it's why we are in business, but win, lose or draw Saturday will be a day of celebration for the club. Three points would be the absolute cherry on the cake
Oh, agreed.

That would be quite fitting. Very Dumbarton. Hopefully it'll be more like the final Boghead result.
I've had the fear about this fixture ever since it was announced.

They only beat us at Boghead with a soft penalty.
Boghead?

I think Edinburgh Blue was referring to the fact that the original Rangers went bust.

Personally we would have been far better in the past looking at the North East than central belt but the wages and travel precluded this (that’s the financial and geographical bit I mentioned).
For a second there I thought you meant up Aberdeen way ......

Rothes - one of the many towns in the UK with a Station Hotel/Park/Road but no station.
Some Station Roads were named because of their Police or Bus stations.

I've only seen a ball go in and bounce out once in my life. That was when U stanchions were in vogue. The ball shot in, hit the centre curve of the U stanchion with a loud metallic clang and shot straight back out again. Other than that scenario I've never seen it happen. We didn't get a goal for it. So it has happened, but that's how.
It happened at Love Street on Christmas Day 1971. One of my best Sons memories. Big Roy McCormack thumped one from way out near the touchline about fifteen yards into St Mirren's half and it soared over the keeper, hit the stanchion and bounced out to beyond the penalty spot. The ref wasn't going to give it but the linesman did - apparently, I later learned, because (as Big Roy tells it) St Mirren's left back sportingly said it had gone in.
That was the middle one of three Big Roy belters in a row. He'd scored a screamer against Alloa at Boghead the game before and repeated that at Clydebank in the New Year's Day game. Happy days.

This was a big bunch of fun. Dan's a great writer and, it turns out, a great reader.
The exhibition is fascinating too, even for this Sons newbie; particularly admired the bits of Boghead turnstile buffed up, boxed up and displayed like holy relics.
(Also good/slightly bizarre to bump into another Charlton fan.)
Big team found?

At one point yesterday a fan shouted at keeper re passing out rather than punting up the park.
the keeper started to answer back
i did shout at keeper to ignore sidelines and concentrate on game not to listen to shouts from side.
don’t think faz should fall into this trap eitherThat comment is a bit ironic.

I don’t understand why so many clubs actually want to win a place in the SPFL.
It gives them a higher profile for one thing.

League clamped down a few years ago. Punishment is very specific in the league regulations:
Is that fine a possible £500 for each infringement?

Obviously a gap there between the top of Tier 4 and the Wosfl.
You need a degree of luck regarding opposition during a cup run.
Not teams two levels above that are looking to win their league.
That seven game winning run flattered us a bit. As subsequent games have shown.

Given the performance of Celtic, Rangers and Now Hearts in Europe then it’s obvious that the experiment of their B Teams in the Lowland League has been an abject failure.
From next season, they should be installed into the SPFL Championship so they get an appropriate level of competition.
The Lowland League have done their bit to try and improve Scottish players and now time for the SPFL and SFA to do theirs.
Sarcasm doesn't work well in print.

Ach, lads, not only are we fighting relegation, but we're now also the worst Sons team in 50 (FIFTY) years:
Where do these people come from?! I've been watching shite Dumbarton football for years and yet the verdicts are always worse online than in the flesh. What's the quote "y'all are getting too comfortable saying things online you'd never say to someone's face..."
I've seen more than one 6-0 defeat.

Hopfully we play well,
Just to note, we haven't won away to Dumbarton since a 4-1 win March 2001, also the only time we have ever won at The Rock since Dumbarton moved thereAway win, then.

Highlights really tell the story of the game. Interested in @pleslie99 thoughts on the first yellow for the full-back who was sent off. In real time I thought it looked a bad challenge, but watching it back I actually think he's unlucky to be booked.
It looked to me that the he was always going to take the Dumbarton player's standing foot. By the rules I think that's a foul.

Indeed. It was one of my favourite grounds - at least until it was ruined by that huge wall behind one of the goals.

Even if it was on a goal difference of one (or even one more goal scored) over five other teams on the same number of points and they're all only six or so points above the bottom team in their division? A scenario like that (however unlikely: it is possible) argues they aren't worthy of promotion. Nor would the rest of the teams in that division be.
