  1. Hopefully Saturdays win against the league champions (who admittedly were probably already on the beach, and deservedly so) gives the team a real boost to head into Saturday with more belief than they would otherwise have had.

No idea what to expect from EK. I don't assume we'll come away with an easy win, and I'd be happy enough if the tie was still alive when we get them back to Stair Park.

  2. Cautiously optimistic of taking something from this one but mindful of our terrible record away at Forfar. I didn't think there was much between the sides in the league cup, so hopefully with an actual real life striker playing up top and with 3pts already under our belts, we can give a better account of ourselves and come away with at least a point.

  3. I know its early doors and I'm not at the pant-pishing stage yet, but I'm definitely concerned about the new season, no matter what positive spin I try to put on it.

I've not felt like this since we got relegated in April 2009 after finally getting Gerry Britton out of the club. Knoxy came in, made some inspired signings, we stabilised then kicked on.

We're signing guys now from Blantyre, Spennymoor and Cumbernauld Colts. Back then it was Craig Malcolm and two youths on loan from Celtic who went on to play in the Scottish Premier League and became full internationals.

I'm hoping Albion Rovers are shite and that will be enough to keep us up, but from what I've heard it's been pretty poor so far, albeit against stronger opposition than we'll face each week in League Two. I'll see us in Forfar on Tuesday so that will probably be a better indicator of where we're at.

Nevertheless it definitely feels to me like it will be a season of looking over our shoulder instead of looking ahead.  I sincerely hope I'm wrong on that front though.

    Awful dive by Boyle there..........

Jesus wept your patter is woeful.

Good game though, enjoyed that. Glad to have escaped without any serious injuries seemingly. Time to stick it to Albion Rovers on Tuesday.

  5. Could just as easily be in the Lazy Journalism thread but the standard line in the press seems to be 'Brora nearly claimed another cup scalp against Stranraer' when in fact Brora were strong favourites with every bookmaker to win the tie.

It's trotted out time and again how the likes of Kelty Hearts and Brora would thrive in the SPFL, but Stranraer have seen both of them off in the last two rounds of the cup. The same Stranraer who went a calendar year without winning a game.

    Just saying

  6. Thanks to The Rangers for our share of the gate receipts. Should see us right for a few years if we don't squander it.

That's about all we can take from this in truth. Admittedly outplayed all over the park.

You've got better footballers, but your kit is honking and your players  haircuts are appalling*

*disclaimer, I'm well aware how unpresentable Ryan Stevenson and Jamie Hamill are.
