I'm trying to see today's game, but apparently they can't validate my season ticket.
I know the details I added are correct.
    Any ideas?

Email them. They had my postcode wrong on system. They emailed through week about it.

Got it sorted out during the live stream.

    One for the oldies here.

'Whenever I hear the festive Tune 'Tis the Season etc  I end up singing along with the words 'Peter Dickson walks on water'

After signing in November 1975 for a talented  but struggling QOS side he completely transformed our Season.

After a dull 0-0 debut at home to Clyde on a very dull November day we were then at home to an attractive Partick side with the larger than life Bertie Auld in charge and Alan Rough in goal.

Can't remember if it was the winner or equaliser but PD scored the proverbial deflection off his backside, final score 2-1 in front of a very lively covered terracing - no segregation in those days !

The turnaround in form was amazing and we went on a fantastic run in the League as well as a great Cup run defeating Premier League St.Johnstone and Ayr in that unforgettable 5-4 replay   -   over 8000 at both Ayr games and 2500 away at Somerset.    Great days to remember !

Dickson's confidence was infectious - some would say arrogant, big headed and outrageous  - but he backed it up with goals and performances.  His pace at that time was phenomenal  and I have never seen a better one-on -one finisher at Palmerston.  He could also deliver a rocket - 4th  against Ayr - and his lob to clinch that match was superb and is right up there with my favourite moments of all-time.

I guess my memory was not only jogged by the music but also I found an old Scottish Football League Review  recently which pictured Dickson in his Scotland shirt - not every day you see a QOS player in one of those  !   Selected for the Scottish League and also Under 23's.

Prior to the Cup Run of 2008 that team from 75 - 77 was my all time favourite.

Ball, Miller, McChesney, McLaren, Clark and Boyd, Dempster, Dickson P., Reid, O'Hara and Dickson G.  Subs:   Donald and Thorburn

Solid defence, dig and skill in the midfield and a lethal front three that all blended perfectly for the management team of Mike Jackson and Benny Rooney.

'Tis the season for nostalgia too.

Queens had 5 points from 13 games at that point.  The game against Partick Thistle ended 1-1.  With a hint of disrespect, Alan Rough wore an all white strip.  Dickson's first goal in his second game for Queens.

    Hi Metal Heads

I was at Wildfire Festival @ Wanlockhead last weekend and was blown away with the bands that I was able to see.

You should check out King Creature, Hollowstar, Daxx and Roxanne, but in particular a band form Liverpool called Scare Tactics.

Their album Legion is on Spotify - let me know what you think!

I've already booked my tickets for next year!

  4. A big shock.  Like has been said by others, I'm not usually upset by the death of celebs.  I'll make an exception with Chris Cornell.  So may great songs - solo and  in bands.  Personal favourites are (in no particular order) Black Hole Sun, Burden In My Hand, Gun, Loud Love, Hands All Over, Beyond The Wheel, Slaves And Bulldozers, Searching With My Good Eye Closed etc. Saw him Solo, Audioslave and Soundgarden.  Only Mike Patton and FNM  left, then nothing.

  5. Disappointing if Johnston goes, but i don't think he's doing anything wrong. Surely he has to resign from Queens to sign on at Kilmarnock and he'll have to talk to Clark to see if he wants to go with him. That will take time. There's a lot going on behind the scenes at Killie for him to ponder as well. His desicion affects others and he has right to take his time. Remember, the Queens board gave their permission for him to talk to Killie. They could have said no and told him to honour his contract and I'm sure he would have done so.

If he does go Queens have a pretty decent squad to start the season and should be able to attract an adequate replacement. Johnston is still unproven at this level, let alone in the SPL.

  6. I'll rephrase it then - have you ever played the negative, pishy, shitebag 4-5-1 where none of the 5 ever get forward to support the lone striker and he remains just that for the full 90 minutes even against the shittiest teams in the division that are there for the taking?

Everyone was glad to see the back of McPherson. I've not seen enough of Accies to judge how Billy Reid set his team up each week, but he did take them to the SPL and brought on players like McCarthy and McArthur. He did this with a team with similar if not inferior resources to Queens. So he's actually proven at this level.

  7. I think Goram is a Dick as well. I'm embarrassed Goram was ever associated with Queens and wanted Colin Scott to play in the Challenge Cup final. Unfortunately when we're dead and buried and the history books are checked, Andy Goram's name will be on that team sheet as Queen Of The South goalkeeper when Queens won the Challenge Cup for the first time. No mention of the Arbroath wondergoal or the two stoppage time goals he lost against St. Johnstone when Queens led 2-0 or any of his bigoted lifestyle.

  8. Regardless of the morals' of Goram, surely a legend is someone who has contributed to Queens in some remarkable way ie. Played in a large number of games, Played in a Chamionship or Promotion winning side, Played in the Scottish Cup final (or helped them get there), Played in the Challenge Cup winning side (or helped them get there) etc. Goram fits into these categories as does John Stewart. For instance George O'Boyle scored a late winner against Cowdenbeath that imo kick started our 2nd Division Championship winning run. Does this make him a legend as well? Remember Jimmy Glass!

  9. Faith No More last night - WOW!!

Best and sweatiest gig i've been to in years. Bursting into From Out Of Nowhere was expected but still a huge thrill. A good mix of singles, album tracks, slow and fast songs too. Surprise! You're Dead! was my highlight, along with I Started A Joke. No Digging The Grave or We Care A Lot though.

Much, much better than their Download appearance. Patton's voice was on the money the whole gig, never thought i'd hear his amazing range live in ma puff!

    In conclusion - EPIC!

I was there too and really enjoyed it. Surprised/disappointed that War Pigs and We Care A Lot were not part of the set, but the gig was great. Agree about sinister Mike Patton's voice. The Midnight Cowboy intro had good comic value also. Caffeine was my highlight. A great sing along and headbang.
