  1. On the full-time football point: the numbers quite clearly don't stack up. Livi don't look like they're going to be challenging for the title - which would help crowds - but I can't see them getting crowd averages over 600-700 without a run at the title. Presuming 2 home games a month, that's about £12,000 ticket income a month. The money flowing out of the club supporting full-timers would be huge. I realise the rent has been cut, they have sponsors/hospitality etc., but it's still a black hole.

EDIT: And that figure of £12,000 is presuming average crowds of 750; no Season Tickets; and an average price per ticket of £8 (which is being generous as kids, OAPs etc. presumably pay less...).

Exactly mate, the finances are worrying and there is a lot that hinges on these figures i.e crowds which create revenue on match days. The outgoings far outstrip the ingoings and that is the worrying aspect.

  2. Livingston will continue to run as a full time club according to the BBC website. I fear a bit for them because will all due respect to the third division, the revenue is not very good and if Livi were struggling to make ends meet in the first division then how can they afford to pay the full time contracts of their players on such a pittance of revenue and also pay rent towards the council for the use of Almondvale? Messrs McDougall, Rankine and Nixon are going to have to pump in a substantial amount of money to keep Livi afloat. It's going to be a difficult road for Livingston but if they can work their way out of the third division with the squad they have (which they should walk the league...well on paper anyway) and begin to climb the leagues again, then there might just be a chance for a long term future for the club.

It's worrying times for Livi and they are not out of the woods yet. If I were a Livi fan, I would be hoping that the new consortium will be ploughing cash into the club because if they don't then it will be curtains for Livingston Football Club.

A sign of hope however is the new sponsorship deal they have managed to get. This may allow for more trust to return from potential sponsors and investors to put money into the club.

  3. It now looks as if things will settle down a bit and everyone gets back to the actual football. Livingston will now just have to dust themselves down and get on with the task of climbing the leagues again. They did it before, so they could do it again. Mind you, it all depends on how involved the new owners will be, i.e how much money there will be available for Boylan to strengthen the squad in January (wages, not transfer fees) and also how many fans will turn up to watch third division football (no disrespect to either Livi fans or the Third Division)

It now allows Livi a chance to rebuild the club and start afresh. It'll allow both the club and it's fans to appreciate that they still have a club and that playing in the Third Division is not the end of the world, it could have been a lot worse (See Gretna FC)

There is no point for Livi to go to the Courts of Arbitration because it will be a costly and lengthy procedure, one of which would put all of the season's results in limbo and would further add chaos to an already chaotic situation, something which the other SFL teams will take a dim view of if the results were scrapped based on the findings of the Court of Arbitration.

I think Livingston FC will now have to accept the final verdict of their last appeal and get back to playing football.

  4. When Dundee went into admin, everyone rallied around to help the club from bucket collections,to bottled water to concerts and many other events were organised , but just as important it helped give the support hope for the clubs survival seeing the efforts and inspiration by the organisers of various groups. I may be wrong ,but i get the impression that there is a division with fans groups and the trust at livi, i feel boycotting any meetings however stong feelings are wont move things forward, people have to stand up and be counted these are tough days ahead ,we,ve been there , its no fun .

Yes that is true. But with Dundee we did have cooperation with the board to a large extent. Relations between the Livi fans and the Livi board are far from cordial. That's where we had the advantage to push on with our efforts to save our club, but for Livingston it will be difficult and I just hope that they can pull through it.

  5. I'd say that's not what we should do. In my mind, it's a choice of two things.

    1) Go to the meeting and simply slaughter Massone, telling him where tae get to in no uncertain terms.

    2) Protest outside the meeting, showing our disdain for the man is enough to keep us out of a room from him.

My personal preference is the second option.

Good ideas, you have to show them that the Livi fans have a voice and are not going to take any cr**p from the board, because that's what they have been shovelling you in the form of broken promises and warped dilusions. Personally I would back the above, show them and hopefully get them out!

Good luck and I sincerely mean that.

  6. Just when you think you've read it all.

    http://www.livingstonfc.co.uk/news_010709_1.php

With all due respect to the Livi fans, I think that statement is an embarrassment. Livingston fans deserve better and for the fact that the heirachy at the club are asking for a meeting at this stage in proceedings I find quite laughable.

The reasons being why they are close to closure is because of broken promises by the board( and not by the fans) to pay rent and various bills and the buck stops with the board not the fans. I sincerely hope that a solution is found.

  7. The sad thing about all this is most spl and first division and some smaller clubs are basically in a similar position to livi. They are by and large heavily in debt and if called upon to clear those debts, they could not do so without selling there best players or other assets.

Setanta is gone and theres no way will the spl get a deal elsewhere as good as, if at all. Costs are up and income is down so dont think Livi are on there own. More clubs during this season will hit the brakes, some may even crash. Maybe even your club???

This situation will get increasingly worse over the coming months and years unless the SFA and SFL get there stupid heads together and radically change Scottish footbal and its format.

Thankfully we don't fall under that bracket. I am not trying to sound overly complacent because anything could happen such as the economic climate we are in. The big thing for us is that we don't owe the bank anything and we don't have an overdraft. That is the draining issue and with the situation with the banks at the moment, they will be wanting to get rid of all "toxic" assets and football clubs owing the banks thousands will fall under that bracket and they would want to get rid of them by any possible means, even if that meant them shutting them down or forcing them into administration.

  8. All you people who think this is funny, just remember this could mean Airdrie being promoted again <_<

I don't find it funny, it's truly sad what's happening at Livi and I sincerely hope that a solution can be found. I realise that there are livlihoods at stake and such like, I mean we have been through it at Dens. It's a shame and if this comment was partly targetted at me for saying the amalgamation then I take my comments back with an unreserved apology to all Livi fans.

  9. Sky Sports news are reporting that Livi are to go into Administration at midnight tonight. I didn't hear the whole story, also something about the Almondvale stadium hasn't had it's safety certificate renewed (is that the West Lothian Council or Livi's duty to get this done ??)

Sorry if this is mentioned earlier in the thread, I had a look but couldn't see it - but then with 131 or so pages I'm checking the whole thread !

edited to add - just seen it posted directly above

Looks like no one was willing to help out, i.e messrs Rankine and McDougall. If they go into administration will be sad, hate to see clubs having to go down that route and I should know, I have seen it at Dundee and it ain't a pleasant feeling.

If it's true about the safety certificate then that is a complete and utter disgrace on the part of the Livi board.

  10. Livingston in terms of finances have been thrown from pillar to post over the years that they have been in buisness. If it is true that they are in high debt, then there will be a high risk of them possibly going out of buisness. This would be the time for the fans of Livingston rallying around their club and actually going to the games at Almondvale. The last time I was at Almondvale was the day we were relegated and it was a pity sight, there was only one stand with Livingston fans and it was not full whereas we had the three other stands and they were just about full with Dundee fans being locked out of the ground aswell. We at Dundee get around 3,500-4,500 at Dens per home which makes us one of the best supported clubs in the division. When we were in the duldrums we had the fans to thank for saving our team with the Dee4Life program and without them would have gone down the chute. So if the time comes that Livingston are in dire need of held, then the fans should think about helping out their club by going to games and perhaps fundraising for the club otherwise if the owners of the club don't get to grips with the financial situation at Livingstion then there might not be a Livingston say in the next couple of years.
