  1. I can understand the reluctance of some sides in the West to seek promotion to the Lowland League - the LL would involve significant amounts of travel and the costs associated with this for many WOSL sides especially the Ayrshire ones to the likes of Dalbeattie , Cowdenbeath and Berwick. I don’t think for many WOSL sides this cost would be offset by significantly higher home crowds or larger travelling supports- I have no doubts that the likes of my own team Clydebank , Talbot and Pollok’s travelling supports would also probably be higher than that carried by many LL sides if not nearly all of them.

I recognise as a Bankies fan I  can’t talk from a position of strength giving our recent form and the likelihood of us blowing our best chance of potential promotion for some time but am worried at the potential for no WOSL sides participating in the LL for some time to come

There are many current sides in the WOSL Premier who I feel could more than hold their own in the LL but worry that we won’t get the chance to see this anytime soon

    Worth while friendly....

I am assuming you'll all be down to watch the title decider this weekend when we play St Cadocs

Pretty sure we will have representatives there watching the game - and probably at other fixtures taking place

I’m based in West Lothian so will probably head to a game around here - likely to be Armadale Thistle v Easthouses Lily at the moment

Right about Darvel’s financial position ahead of statement being released.

right about JG leaving before it was announced.

right about Pollok financial position before the asked for £200/member.

right about Riley going/right about mcshane/right about needing to sell players.

And mark my words I’ll be right about JGs band of merry men being straight out the door once he’s away and they realise it’s tough without money.

some people want to deny I’m right as too far up the arse of JG.

Five year plan was a fail, 1 trophy to show.  Let’s be honest time will tell when finances are released after JG leaves how self-sustainable we are like we’ve been told we have always been.

bear in mind JG went on record to say he wasn’t funding buying players or paying their wages, so why the budget shortfall?

I was right about the committee member at regarding the sweep sweep of the golf club money.

And I maintain that the way forward is to get the previous committee and true Darvel people back involved.  Not the glory hunters, who I am sure will fade away to obscurity anyway, they have never had any interest in the the club just wanted to jump on bandwagon.

Never mind any of that Rhubarb I want to know how you will successfully blame Matt Bamford and Clydebank for the Assassination of JFK and Global Warming 😉

If a vote took place at the league AGM to only allow teams to participate in the league if they have their own ground and ban ground sharing would it be voted in?

On the grounds of financial fairness, teams operating their own grounds are at a disadvantage to those who rent either community facilities from the council or share with other teams.

    “Financial Fairness” and Darvel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Went to Cumnock with a friend who has no real affinity to my club, was a day out on the train for us.

That boy in the middle has to be the worst referee I've ever seen in the WoS. I can't recall the last time I saw both sets of fans gathering to bay for his blood.

The game slipped away from him in the opening minutes and by full time, it felt like he had slipped away with it.

My mate can't wait to see him strutting his stuff at a higher level. Neither can I.

Can’t disagree with any of that

This incident here summed up his performance

Someone had mentioned this morning QTS are pulling out anyone else heard anything about this? I know Alan and John are good friends so I would have thought Alan/QTS involvement was more to do with friendship with John than as a fan of the club itself. Not knocking QTS as they have been a great sponsor and provide good jobs throughout the valley. But i can also understand if because John is away that they are no longer willing to put the money in.

That would make sense if true why they released looking for shirt sponsor, main stand sponsor etc...all where the QTS branding is currently in place.

Hopefully more local businesses can help out, not unrealistic to expect another Brownings/QTS size company to come forward however the likes of Beith, Talbot etc...seem to manage with a lot of smaller sponsors rather than 1 or 2 larger ones.

Unsure how much demand or income could be brought in in making the Kier White suite more of a social club and open more often. Cumnock, Bonnyrigg Rose, troon, Kelty Hearts all have busy social clubs which help fund the club.

    Draw was fair result imo

I’d agree with that DL - Darvel better first half Bankies better second half. Two poor goals conceded from our pov but no argument that Darvel were worth a point- although Bankies could have nicked it late on

Despite the recent issues Darvel have had they still have some excellent players- very impressed by young Aitken up front and thought your left back had a good game too.

  8. Perfectly understandable the Schadenfreude that is evident at this news tonight.

Clubs like Beith , Auchinleck Talbot , Pollok and my own club Clydebank have strived hard to build good quality squads able of competing on several fronts and in a way that is designed to be manageable and sustainable in sharp contrast to what Darvel have done but the fall from grace has been quicker than many would have anticipated

In the past the likes of Bathgate Thistle , Ballingry and Maryhill have burned brightly for a limited time after becoming overly reliant on cash injections that were unsustainable long term before falling away

The fixing of budgets based on an extended Scottish Cup run was absolute lunacy and has now come back to bite Darvel squarely on the arse

There will be committee men , coaching staff, fans and players of many other WOSL sides chuckling away tonight and I don’t blame them one bit.

    Scorers?

Jeanfield went 1-0 up through Scott Struthers after 36mins. Bankies equaliser came from a Lee Gallacher free kick on 40 mins

Second half Bankies were much better but game was heading for a 1-1 draw after a raft of substitutions on both sides before Bankies Trialist and young striker Ben McLernan combined well down the left and the Trialist saw his cross sliced past the keeper for an OG in the 90th minute

Larry McMahon added another deep into injury time firing home at the second attempt after the keeper saved his first effort.

Ye from what I seen he had loads to offer, unbelievable turn of pace and lots of power, didn't realise he was injured , that explains it . But ye Bankies going for it in striker department, might be hard keeping them all happy as all will expect to be first choice, deservedly so with the calibre of all

Weir was poor and his departure is no great surprise tbh. Expected more from him but didn’t work out

Hopefully not jumping the gun but do feel Calum Graham and Thomas Collins are a definite upgrade on Weir and McKinlay
