Always Arbroath isn’t for me. Iv no issue with folk putting in and it will obviously benefit the club but for me personally I’d rather use that money for away games and supporting the club all over the country.

I'd held off the Always Arbroath, probably due to the fact how shit the football had been going since it's conception.

Now the dust has settled and some positives ahead, I'm with @1320Lichtie and going to sign up. Mainly, because the few ways I can help the club, apart from the odd game I can attend, is through these initiatives, buying a shirt, being part of online lichties who sponsor a player, etc.

Yeah absolutely understand everyone has their own preferences and thoughts on it.

Posted because it was something I had been considering since its inception but had only just bit the bullet there and a part of it was because of what was going on with Caley.

It would be good to see what the uptake was like as it stands and what that actually meant to the club in regard to extra budget for the year etc.

  2. I have went and signed up to Always Arbroath for £10 a month. I figured that I would regularly chuck that on a random bet most weeks so why not actually try contribute a little extra to the club.

In a weird way I think it was listening to Inverness fans talk about how pissed off they were with the people running their club and the dire financial state that they are in that maybe pushed me over the edge to actually go and do it.

Listening to the recent Ewan West, Brian Cargill and Paul Reid interviews kind of made me feel like we are actually extremely lucky to have good people and genuine supporters running our football club and bursting a gut to try and bring in as much support as they can to try and help the club achieve success.

I really hope we’ve got a good season ticket uptake again this year and we hear some good news on that. I think 1k plus would be a success. Would also be good to maybe get an update on the uptake of the Always Arbroath scheme too to try and gauge how much of a success it’s been. I notice other clubs even including the likes of Annan are all trying to add additional funds to help so I think it is a really good scheme overall although obviously understandable why it went down like a lead balloon at the time it was announced.

Understand that we all have to fork out a lot of cash as it is with getting season tickets etc and it’s not something everyone can justify doing but for me I just thought it’s one bet less a month or a couple of pints less.

Down to 18 days before the first pre season training session so hopefully more news starts filtering through in regard to players.

It was one of the announcements last year (I think?):

Its the same company who released the managers bunnet stuff.

Cheers, it’s a great touch and fkn lovely to boot. Chuffed with them.

So now that we know the biggest sponsorship in the clubs history is not for the kit I wonder if Gayfield name will get sponsored? Not that I would be arsed in the slightest this is common practice now and everyone just calls stadiums their names anyway.

Unless Paul Reid meant the cumulative sponsor money amount was the biggest and not a one off deal.

Heard on the grapevine that the experienced decent keeper we were signing from a full-time club has now "stalled" as he is speaking to other full-time clubs which will be a big set back if this signing falls through.

I still maintain Gats could have easily done a great job for us in League 1.

Hopefully we have a plan B to move onto.

Yeah keeping Gaston would’ve been the safest option anyway. Suppose we will just have to sit back and see what happens.

  5. If it’s a pitch for the use of the local community and maintained by Fife Council you’d have to think they’d be looking for a lot more cash stumped up by Caley to help with that.

The community would also have to be put first when it comes to its use as it will be in effect their facility no?

Might be wrong but that’s another big can of worms opened up by the look of it

Bonnyrigg away at the weekend would be the gem please SPFL 🙏.

Only need - watching Arbroath -

    Kelty

    Bonnyrigg

    Motherwell

    Livingston

    Spartans

    Ross County

I had typed St Johnstone but my dad took me way back in the Division 1 days. Will get two of them ticked off this year if we get Bonnyrigg away.

Our next manager will most likely go back to 1 up top, but in the various interviews, there's been a couple references to "two up top", so I would assume thats what our current incumbent will be doing.

I noticed on the East Fife thread they were talking about budgeting for a squad of 24 in league 2.  I think a squad of 20 is too small considering that we dont have a youth team, and considering bench sizes and 5 subs.  Other teams will be able to bring on half a team of fresh legs, while we'll only ever be a couple suspensions and injuries away from a crisis.  The game has changed, and we need to adapt.

Pretty sure they’ve got a group of (4 or 5) under 20s who will be going out on loan within that number.

On paper Gallagher is an upgrade over McIntosh

Might be controversial but I would go as far as saying Gallagher is an upgrade on McKenna, different players I know but McKenna would be taking one of they top 2 positions on the park in the 10 and Gallagher got 4 years on him and a f**k load of goals. Not sure everyone would agree

Would think so. Need at least 1 more striker then as backup.

Aye absolutely. Loan and a punt on McGrath would maybe be decent

I know , think Tids might be holding out to see if Lyon , Oware, Corbett sign on again before looking elsewhere ?? Get those 3 resigned then build from there maybe , who knows 😂😂

We’ve got a situation with a player Leighton McIntosh who has been offered terms but not accepted them yet or confirmed to have accepted them yet and feel like I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that he will be away.

  10. Listening to the Wyness Shuffle while I was doing some mundane work earlier on, don’t usually listen to other clubs podcasts but was interested to see what the thoughts of the fans were.

Was expecting to just find it an interesting listen but actually really found myself feeling sorry for the fans after it and being a bit emotionally invested in it.

Really do feel for you guys, it’s going to be some shitshow to look on to from the outside.

    Pot 1: Motherwell

    Pot 2: not arsed

    Pot 3: Us

    Pot 4: East Fife

    Pot 5: Bonnyrigg

Would be my picks, with the Motherwell and Bonnyrigg games away selfishly as I haven’t been to either.

I like this - agree on Pot 2 - looks terrible and can’t be arsed with anybody. Be harder this year now we’ve dropped a pot.

I see Clark Robertson is trying the P&J route into trying to get a move back nearer to his family in Aberdeen.

Now he would be a great acquisition. 30 so unlikely to get a move to Dundee or Utd given what they are after, surely we could be more attractive than the likes of ICT or Arbroath?

Getting a bit of stick on social media but if I remember wasn’t he pretty open about his OF allegiance? Could be come here? Would be an outstanding signing if he did ……

I mean we train in Edinburgh and Inverness train somewhere that’s not Inverness, can’t quite remember where, mind there was a big furore and uproar when it was announced….. 😉

So absolutely not a chance of ending up here. If he’s going to be living in Aberdeen then you’d imagine Cove would be the only place suitable for him unless he fancies a load of travelling or going PT with Peterhead.

Guy seems to have brought a whole lot of money into the club and seems to have done incredibly well.

Obviously been a few hiccups where people have not been happy about certain things including myself but overall he seems to have done really really well.

It is a really good interview anyway

Spence now confirming he’s left the club. Not too sad to see him go, thought if nothing else, he’d have been a squad player but wish him well for the future.

He is probably one of the players that disappointed me the most at Arbroath over the last 10 year. Had come with a bit of a reputation but was clear to see he was living off past glories at Alloa. Just ended up being not really much use at anything and I felt like I was waiting and waiting to see it happen for him but done absolutely f**k all by the time he left apart from score two goals against you guys in that 6-1 League Cup game.

Could actually maybe see East Fife take a chance on him.

Is your manager announcement really expected today? If so that’s quite a quick turnaround, must’ve only been advertised 10 days ago. Will be interesting to see who it is.

You have got a great solid and reliable keeper in Gaston. Even though there are a few mistakes creeping in but imagine they’ll not be as noticeable when he’s in L2 and not in a team getting pumped in the Championship every week. Best of luck to him - would’ve happily kept him on for this upcoming year

And if its determined to be the club's fault...if it is indeed a thing, then will we be allowed to talk about it on on here?

    We will never know!!

If the club have done anything wrong then they’ll have to rectify it, it would be very simple to do and make very little difference in the grand scheme of things.

And you and anyone else can talk about whatever you like but nobody has seen any contract or been involved in any contract discussions - so it’s all just pure speculation that’s putting the club in a negative light for no reason whatsoever

    Good work 👍🏻
