Keir Starmer is the sort of person when they go to the pub they leave just before its their turn to buy the round.

I thought that the CWC as we knew it was simply morphing to the bloated new format.
I did not realise that the existing format had actually been spliced off into a new tournament that comes across as even more pointless then before.

I'll stand for much but don't you dare ask Sean Dillon to debase himself like this
This sounds like those websites that you can buy a star or a plot of land so you can become a "Lord" or "Lady".
Think they missed a real trick by not using buzzwords and technology like NFT and blockchain.

A family have spoken of their ordeal after their seven-year-old son, whose middle name is inspired by the Star Wars films, was refused a passport due to copyright issues.
Christian Mowbray, 48, is a serving soldier in The Corps of Royal Engineers at the Rock Barracks in Sutton Heath, near Woodbridge.
He and his wife Becky, a former serving soldier, booked a holiday to the Dominican Republic at the end of October, the family’s first since 2014 due to their demanding work schedules and Becky’s struggles with Complex PTSD.
However, when they tried to secure a passport for their youngest child, Loki Skywalker Mowbray, the Home Office refused it on copyright grounds, telling the family to either change his name or get permission from the copyright owner, Disney.

What percentage of folk who will attend the game would actually go to an event or mark the day in some significant manner if it was moved to a different date or time?
I would imagine it would be a tiny percentage. However the folk who love licking boots and chugging off to anything military related seem to have unusually loud voices in the realm of social media.

Brazil lost again last night. I would love it if they failed to qualify, however given that 60% of their confederation qualify automatically and there is a play off spot for the team that finish 7th it does seem massively unlikely they'll be in the bottom 3. I live in hope though.

Scottish alcohol deaths at 15-year high
QuoteThe number of people in Scotland whose death was caused by alcohol remains at a high level, with the largest number of deaths in 15 years.
The latest figures from National Records of Scotland, (NRS) show 1,277 people died from conditions caused by alcohol in 2023.
This was one death more than the previous year, which was the highest number since 2008.
Male deaths increased to 861 and again accounted for about two thirds of alcohol-specific deaths. Female deaths decreased by 24 deaths to 416.
Those aged 45-64 and 65-74 continue to have the highest mortality rates.
Alcohol-related issues were listed as the cause of death for 140 people between the ages of 60-64, while 128 people between 65-69 died.
The youngest age group to record any deaths related to alcohol was 20-24 - this age group had two deaths in 2023.
Areas such as Inverclyde, Glasgow City, North Lanarkshire, and Dundee City saw deaths above the Scottish average.
Glasgow City continues to have the highest mortality rate by some margin recording 184, although this was down from 202 on the previous year. North Lanarkshire saw 115 deaths, up from 107.
Phillipa Haxton, head of vital events statistics, said the rates of deaths had "generally risen" since 2012.
She said: "If we look at the average age at death, that has risen over time.
"The mortality rates for those aged 65 to 74, and 75 and over, were at their highest since we began recording these figures in 1994.
"At the same time, for age 25-44 the mortality rate has been fairly stable over the last decade.”

It really is amazing how poor the BBC Sports website is these days.
I really dislike how many of the pages are turning into timelines where your only navigation options is to scroll downwards with little clue as to what awaits.

Japan 7-0 China
It's pretty incredible that despite having 1/3rd of the global population between them that neither China or India are capable of mustering a half decent international side.

ScotRail's old high-speed trains to be replaced
I'll be glad to see the back of them. Had a number of journeys on them where they never managed to leave the station and you had to switch to a different train. I remember one trip from Aberdeen to Dundee there was an announcement saying there was no working toilets on board so if you need to go then you'd have to get off at Dundee and wait for the next train.

Happy 30th birthday The Holy Bible.
Things like this make me feel old now as I remember going to HMV and buying the special 10th anniversary edition of it which came with the US mix of the album.

So people are thinking Deryck will be doing the Chester vocals. Although it could be a case of putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

Chelsea have thankfully signed a goalkeeper as they were looking a little short in that position (although they are staying on loan at Genk).

We almost got Sky Stream a couple of weeks ago to replace our ageing Sky+ box. However we were going to have to pay a £40 "setup fee" and our monthly cost would still be practically the same as the Sky+ box so we ditched them and are moving to Virgin.

Víkingur Reykjavík like TNS will be their leagues first representatives in the group stages (I keep saying group stage but I see all the competitions have moved to this Swiss system so its more of a league) of a European competition barring a second leg collapse after smashing 5 past Santa Coloma.
Larne lost 2-1 to Lincoln Red Imps but with the home leg to come its still very much in their hands.

TNS with a 3-0 win away from home so barring a spectacular collapse in the home league that's a Welsh club in the group stages.
I almost put "proper Welsh club" down but then I remembered they are based in England. What a minter Welsh football is.
