Curtis Main's aerial ability, strength, pace, work rate and attitude is superb. I like him and really want him to do well.
His ability to kick a football is not good though and unfortunately that's a pretty important part of football.
Paul McGowan couldn’t kick a football either. Decent player for us though.

If we play 4-2-3-1 they could both play in the same team, Kiltie on the left and McGrath through the middle.
Would also suit Jay Henderson more…and a resurrection for Kyle?

Subs were all wrong for me yesterday but that's the managers call. He has lost players he wanted due to budget constraints which will continue unfortunately until we can up our income. Booooing is an individual choice personally for me it only makes matters worse if fans don't think boooing affects players then they never will understand.
I’d disagree on the budget element. He’s brought in a number of players, all of his choice. I don’t see his hands being significantly tied behind his back on that one.

Last three games we have had a player sent off in each game that's very concerning. Last two games we have had perfectly good goals chopped off due to bad refs . Is Mrs Fate going to give us a bad season. Last seasons hero Jim Goodwin fast becoming the point the finger and blame culprit. Seen this all to many times in the past it will soon lead to players being shouted at on the park . That leads to confidence seeping out the team that ends up struggling. Did I hear booooing as our players walked off the park yesterday. Its all building up to a c**t of a season 4 games in.
I don’t think there was booing of the players, I think the frustration was directly aimed at Goodwin and for good reason. 0-0 is what you’d expect playing 6 defenders plus Ethan, who’s not exactly famed for being forward thinking. Ethan wasn’t having a good day. Goodwin completely stubborn and didn’t change it.
He just made like for like changes too, but what use was that when you still don’t get the ball forward?

Hopefully we can improve the squad this week
Definitely think McGrath will be away in the next week.

Where does he live currently?

For me the problem isn't 3 at the back, it is 2 strikers closely supported by 2 midfielders and 2 wingbacks leaving 1 sitting midfielder and 3 CBs to cover the rest of the pitch. Last season we played with 3 CBs and 2 sitting midfielders and had one of the best defensive units in the League. We also played football on the deck through the sitting midfielders. It was maybe too slow but this launching the ball straight up the pitch leaves us woefully exposed when we lose it.
Very much this. Kiltie and McGrath are too similar, and neither is ‘box to box’ to play in a 3-5-2. Two wingbacks start really high, so we just bypass the middle of the park and don’t really build anything.
It can work, as the Jonnies have proved, but have to have logic and personal to deliver.

Sifting through shit will still leave you with shit on your hands, even if you find a penny in that shit.
After reading the “stewards” thread on BAWA, I’d take a daily RG post over that…

I've said it before and after today I still feel the same. All the separate parts are there, we're just not putting them together as a whole.
Agree with this. Don’t think we’ve got the players to play that system and it leaves Kiltie being pretty ineffective. Also think McCarthy is our best centre back, don’t think he deserves to be missing out.

Anyone who has been successful in a ballot so far able to shed any light on this for me? At the turnstiles, did you waft a mobile phone or iPad at the automated ‘card reader’, or did you print out your ‘ticket’? Ta.
Phone is fine.

Looks like Chris Wreh impressed on trial.

Although you had to wear one to get in to the ground yesterday and if you moved about the stadium, very few people sitting watching the game were wearing masks. Rightly so, as we were all at least1m socially distanced, and sitting in an extremely well ventilated area.
The ticket did imply that a mask was to worn at all times. It’s never going to happen, especially in that heat.
I listened to Fitzy on the radio (had to fill the time) and was quite surprised by his response, seemed almost defensive. We’ve lost seats as they are using the main stand for the players during the week (ralston being done up) and that’s why. Can’t understand why, it’s not like they are using the same entrance.

Glenafton had 1000 people in at the weekend for a junior game go figure.
Yes, heard similar at junior games close to us. And no masks for supporters.

Jim seems to have decided we do not need a midfield this season. Tactic is long balls from the back three either straight up top to two strikers or out to the wing backs to throw in crosses quickly. I understand what he is doing. We were far too slow last season getting the ball up front with too many side and back passes. And even if the strikers do not win the headers then Kiltie and McGrath are there for the second balls. Problem for me is it is turning into hoof ball and McGrath's talents are wasted. Would have preferred if we had mixed it up more and at least tried some passing through the middle. If we keep this up we won't need McGrath this season.
Slightly concerned yesterday that McGrath was very deep at points of the game. A couple of times Fraser overlapped and McGrath dropped into his space to take the ball. I’d rather McGrath was the one breaking the lines and making that movement.

Lewis Jamieson - talk to me. I know he had a decent wee loan spell at Clyde last season. The rumour mill has us taking him on loan to help pad out the squad as Dodds shifts to playing two up front and we only have Mckay and Duku there with the former being injured at the moment.
Highly rated and appears to have done well at Clyde. Not really seen much of him in a Saints shirt to comment, but has had a good reputation coming through the various youth levels.

200k is an insult. So much for the utter tripe spouted by our vice chairman about nobody leaving on the cheap.
We’ll see on the £200k. However, we are talking about a club that can’t run a ‘fair’ ticketing scheme for the cup games - literally a 5 minute job on excel.

1,039 allowed in for the Thistle game. Ridiculous.

Hope springs eternal with Kyle and he's still young but the detail of his appearances the past couple of seasons speaks volumes:
19 starts (substituted in 17 of them) and 44 appearances from the bench.
On the flip side, and I’m sure a statto out there can confirm or not, that McAllister created more ‘key’ chances than any other player in our squad.
Found this on Twitter…would need to see the numbers though.

Ethan will play at a higher level, question of when not if. Can see him being a regular for a lower end EPL team / top end English Championship and be in and around the Scotland squad within five years. He has represented Scotland from u17’s to u21’s and is highly rated within that set up.
As with all 20 year olds, he has a lot to learn and improve on. Would be a bit odd if he didn’t.
If he doesn’t get his move this summer it will surely be before his contract ends in two years.
Think Cammy is playing at his level and can’t see him pushing on much more. He’s a good squad member for a mid table top flight team and I’d be happy to keep him for the long term.I don’t think anyone is doubting his ability. As you say, he’s represented Scotland at youth level and played a lot of games for his age.
However, it’s about moving to that next level and having the desire and mindset to do so. Plenty of great youth players have come and gone without reaching their potential and don’t want Ethan to be one of them. It’s big season or two for him - with us or a ‘bigger’ club.

im never ITK so here is some goss I heard yesterday …
I’m hearing that Erhahon is pretty much off and that we’d do a deal at 300k (I’m guessing / hoping add ons would be on top of this). Apparently his attitude is pretty shite and have someone else lined up if he goes!
Erwin also likely to go and again have a replacement lined up.
Dunne has been flying in training and if we can keep him fit he won’t be around for long, and that we are generally delighted at our transfer business so far after seeing players over first couple of weeks in training.
I’d be ok with £300k up front for Ethan plus a load of incentives in there. There’s a player there, but needs to move on from the ‘daft laddie’ tag that’s kinda hung over him. Perhaps a move away will bring maturity.

McGinn counts as he's a former St. Mirren employee.
As does Stevie Mallan, as does Lewis Morgan who he loaned in from Celtic for Sunderland, as does John Potter.
Forgot about Morgan to Sunderland - did he say something about them and their fans kicked off?

Count them up and tell us how many then. It's not 38 but have a wee count up.
Fowler, Samson, some sorta analyst, the kit man, Paul McGinn, Magennis, JDH. Not counting Stephen McGinn as we’d freed him.
Might be one or two more from a back room perspective, but can’t think of any other players. Happy to be corrected, but it’s definitely miles away from 38.
