  1. Devonshire Cat, Sheaf Island and Golden Lion looks like my plan.

Possibly Royal Standard after the game.

Do you know there's a 'ring of steel' going up around the outside of the away end, right outside the Cricketers?

Not sure exactly how that affects access.

Alright mate, just seeing this now. We were in Sheaf Island for one, intended going to the Crown but there queues outside and ended up next door in the Barrel on London Road.

Unlucky last night, done us proud.

  2. Sheffield United v Spurs this Wednesday.

Alright mate, where you going before the game? 14 Morton going down to this game. We're hoping to get to Sheffield for about 4pm and will probably head into town for a bit before settling in the Cricketers Pub. If you're about be sure to say hello.

  3. I'm all for compromise now, the SPL/SFA want them in SFL 1 and out the top league for one season, the fans want them in SFL 3 and out the top league for at least 3 seasons.

I say stick them is SFL 3 this year, reconstruct the leagues to 2 x 16 and 1 x 10 next season and this gives them the chance to be back with the big boys in 2yrs, nowt wrong with splitting the difference. :)

  4. Nope sorry. There will be many posts on here where i categorically stated that Rangers are a Scottish Club and it up to us all together to improve the game here. I was always against going to the EPL...I just don't see the attraction for Rangers...OK we get more money but less than the top 6 or 7 will be getting.

When there looked like a chance it might go through a couple of years ago and the OF said they would leave a reserve team North of the border i said there and then i would follow the reserve team in the lower leagues rather than watch some franchise in the EPL.

Fair enough, I'll take that one on the chin.

  5. I obviously don't want to see Rangers/The Rangers expelled or suspended from the league set up...Who would that benefit? Certainly not Scottish football.

Ive not read all this thread but in what I have read you have came across in the main as being decent and pretty well balanced for a Rangers fan but can I ask, were you in favour of your club packing it's bags several years ago and heading off to ply their trade in the English leagues with Celtic? I suspect you were, therefor I have to question exactly how much of your concern for Scottish football is actually driven by your concern and willingness for Rangers to survive.

  6. Not sure what's happened to the stand, but the players Allan Moore let go were all replaced by players with lower wage bills.

The stand is in the same place it always has been, the steel work can be seen from the car park and the seats etc are all in 4 weather tight containers in the same area. I believe in the last month or two the club has had engineers back in looking at the plans etc.

  7. Spot on.

In Hugh Scott's last season in charge (with his hand up the bum of the adminstrator puppets) we got relegated to the 2nd division and nobody gave a flying f**k - having a team and ground to play in the 2nd division was more of priority. New owner in charge, team clubbed together, we got relegated to the 3rd - and still nobody gave a toss.

Starting from near scratch is not the most difficult thing to do, unless your support is reared on unrealistic ambitions.

and that season in the third division goes down as probably the best Ive had in following Morton FC, winning the league that year was something really special, after what we had been through that title meant more to me than all three of the titles I watched them win to get to the Premier league.

There was something about the Morton support back then that had everyone of them signing from the same hymn sheet and I think that pulled us through those dark times, something I just don't see amongst the Livi support

  8. So ST sales will be down significantly for the coming season........of that there is no doubt. Attendances will be lower too. The club will generate (on crowds of 1,500 at an average of £20 a skull) somewhere in the region of £60k a month. .

Does anyone else not think those figure are crazy, there is no way the average can be £20 a head on crowds of 1,500 and thats including profit on hospitality, If my memory serves me right last seasons prices were Adults: £16, Concessions £7 so lets say you raise the prices by a pound you average would be around £13 and thats me being generous, that would give a figure of around £39k which for arguments sake we will raise to 40k. That is still 33% short of the 60k a month you are hoping for and in reality I think the monthly income from the gate will be closer to the 35k mark than the 40.

  9. Just spoken with Angelo Massone, Neil Rankine and Andy Gemmell (ex-Airdrie) as they went upstairs for a meeting to discuss the future of the club.

I got some nice shots but it's hard to hold a camera and keep a tight grip on your wallet at the same time

I half expected to see Trotter's Independent Traders' three wheeler in the car park

Are you serious Andy Gemmell? Does Andy still drive the wee Punto? He is usually court jester at whatever club he is installed at. He was the Asda style greeter at Dumbarton, after his failed attempt to convince anyone at Airdrie he had more than tuppence of his own. He really is a genial wee guy, but save a club?

Edit. He claimed to be a pal of Hugh Scotts as well.

 him tell me your kidding

My jaw dropped when I saw his name mentioned in the first post, surely this guy has been sussed out by now.
