The club decided that only those with the Highest rate mobility were to get a free carer ticket. So basically Wheelchair users, the blind and deaf. You know "real disabilities"

Not quite sure thats the correct statement to use. As my son is Epileptic and whilst not going in to the "ins and outs" of his illness doesnt fall in to your categorising. However he is entitled to the Highest Rate Mobility, if they didnt have it set at some level, as someone has said earlier, at what disability would the club then set it at? (Loss of a finger etc). Unfortunately disabilities as you are no doubt aware are still grey areas, however things are improving but still there is room for improvement, not just at football level,  but also ministerial level.

However that is a different conversation for a different part of P&B :)

That’s a pretty serious statement for the club to make while providing no evidence for the claim.

If Pars had done similar I’d have definitely been asking questions as it would have looked like a pretty desperate money-saving manoeuvre.

Again my memory might not be brilliant but i think it was to do with the fact the "carer" was getting in for free and then sitting somewhere complete different to where the person they were supposed to be with were.

It was more than likely a money saving move as, i say pretty sure it was during Drysdales era which probably falls in with what you say. Outwith this i do think the club need to do more for the disabled supporters side of things, however it will probably take time and maybe lessons can be learnt from other clubs.

“I think it was a couple of years ago but I can’t be arsed proving it”

That’s barely a reply, never mind an answer.

Not quite what i typed, as i said i remember something being said about the system being abused but cant be arsed finding where i had read it. Might have been on the official site or it might have been on Fannytalk.

I do apologise though that i wont scroll through all the chat pages to find it for you and will try better next time.

How do they know that the system was “abused”? Did they publish details about this for supporters to see on their website?

Yes, think it was a couple of years ago that they said it. Although don't ask me to find the relevant article for it as can't be arsed trying to find it. Think it might have been towards the Drysdale era, so make of that what you will.  Appreciate everyones dealings with this isnt as good as each others but guess the only way to change it is to interact with the DLO and ask to meet with them to discuss what could be done better. Bearing in mind that i believe this role has only just been set up and is being dual hatted with another role.

Think the issue is disabled prices are age related.Anyone disabled over 21 but under 65 its £20.Yes carer goes free if required but thats been the case for years

The carer ticket is the ticket that can and the most likely one to be abused as theres is no proof required

All ticketing is "age related" whether disabled or not though. As has been said you have to prove you are in receipt of the PIP to be able to enter the ground. The club has openly stated that the system was abused for years by people, hence why they have to add an extra level of checking to be done. I'm sure there can be improvements made to the system but pricing i dont think is one of them based on what they are offering at the moment.

Maybe sounds like the website is either needing updated or is put in such a way that requires a supporter to get in contact with the club directly if there are any disability requirements. Although it's a small pain on the arse it's probably fair enough really.

Its literally written on the website https://www.raithrovers.net/disabled-supporters.

Unsure what else the club can do when it comes to explaining about disability requirements, maybe do a door to door for people as well?

Personally i think that if the carer is getting in free then pricing isn't an issue as you are getting 2 people in to a game of football for maximum of £20. Or do people expect everything for free?

Good to hear, although equality wise all fans should really have access to the same booking method though. Phoning, no matter how quick and easy, is an additional barrier being placed in front of fans with disabilities. If there’s concern about abuse then it doesn’t really help as presumably someone at it can just as easily bluff over the phone. The turnstiles is the place to carry out checks.

Sorry should have added that IAW the Rovers website i have to take the proof of his PIP to the ground with me when i go. This was told to me on the phone as well as reading it on the website.

    Carers still go free.

But you cant buy these tickets online either becausectge club haven't bothered taking into account disabled fans on the ticketing site either.

On the flip side of this I've just phoned the club up and got a disabled ticket for my 20 year old son and me and its only cost £12 for the both of us. So not sure how people can complain about the pricing as this is the price for U21's. Even if he was over 21 and i had to pay the £20 for a ticket it still means that both of us are getting to go for £20.

It takes 5 minutes to phone the club and the personnel on the other end of the phone couldnt have been more helpful. Maybe if in the past fans hadn't abused the disability ticket system then they would have it on the website but i genuinely cant see the issue with having to phone the club to get a ticket.

If we can’t afford a development fee then why are we going Full Time, we’ll just get the usual journeymen. With the Hybrid system and the stock we held last season we could’ve gotten some great part timers. Or the pick of the best. Money Talks right enough!!

You do realise that Aberdeen offered him another contract that he has turned down and clubs like Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland are looking at him. Don't think there would be any clubs in Championship (possibly exception being Kilmarnock) that could afford him.

Maybe so but if clubs are not paying HMRC and other major creditors whilst spending money on other things/or not cutting their cloth accordingly  they,ll be aware what direction they,re heading in

Not the fans fault though is it? And like every club its the fans that are left to pick up the pieces. Is it right that clubs have done this? No,  however as i said its not going to change what has happened in the past.

You could go as far as blaming the banks during the 90/00s as they were quite happy to throw money at clubs.  You could also say why does the HMRC wait until its nearly the final nail in the coffin before chasing the money? I think the majority of clubs within Scotland have learnt their lesson (some the hard way) from the era where there was a lot of money within the game to where we stand now.

Rovers are trying to clear debt, does it help we have someone who has money to bridge the gap just now, yes of course it does, but doesn't make us perfect or any better than other clubs who have suffered.  In an ideal world all clubs would be run perfectly and all post profits, however what would we then moan about on here....

We'd all heard the stories. That's not up for debate. My point is what did you expect us to do, bearing in mind it's 7 years since we went into administration but like I pointed out most of the damage was done between 2000 & 2009 when fans had little or no say in the running of football clubs.

You admit you need more income relying on a generous owner & fan donations, which reading between the lines means you're losing money. So, on a smaller scale, what's the difference between where you are & where we were?

You & other Rovers fans act like you would do & say differently, like footballing pillars of society, when in reality you'd lap up the relative success we had hoping those in charge knew what they were doing.

You're lying if you say otherwise.

Think its more a frustration from Rovers fans that we did the "honest" thing and are trying to clear our debt. When we were in a real bad way maybe if we had taken administration then we would be in a better state than we are now, but we'll never know that. At the end of the day i don't think clubs deliberately set out to get enter administration but as i say i think its frustration, maybe even jealousy, that clubs who did take administration option are now in 1/2 leagues above us. No point dwelling on it though as its happened and nothing can be changed about the history just got to hope for promotion and back to the proper derbies again with decent crowds to help both clubs financially.

Why do the club need money now? For more players? We are top of the league and have plenty of registered players between  the first team and development squads.

As far as I’m aware the Trust don’t give an annual donation at a set time and when they do it’s not a donation it’s in return for shares. As a Trust member I’d be completely opposed to a knee jerk donation because some in the support want a bigger squad. Especially at a time when the structures and share make up is totally up in the air.

I'm guessing that he is part of the McMillan who have just donated and thus having a dig.  Hoping I'm wrong though....

I just don't understand how we can all suddenly say that without Vaughan then we can't win this league. Given the fact that we've got the best 2 strikers at this level from last season.

He's a good player, he's also an injury prone player. Does his mean if he gets an injury in the next 3 weeks that we won't get promoted? Smith had recruited well so far and I'd trust him in bringing in the type of player that he knows he needs for his squad to work. Vaughans good but to start declaring him the only hope we have of promotion is madness. Having the club in a stable position for the next 5 years is a priority and financial stability will do that. If we let Vaughan go now then at least we can get something for him rather than have him walking away for nothing to what could potentially be a league rival.

If Vaughan stays then he would be doing his own career damage as well.

However all we have to do is offer him the same contract that he is on just now for us to be entitled to a development fee. So no matter what we would get something for him, or at least thats what i believe is the way it works.
