HR Departments are usually full of half-wits.
Hoi! We're not all bad!
Especially my old work's, it would seemGaz you could try phoning your previous manager/HR dept and ask them to complete it as a matter of urgency as it's holding up the recruitment process. Unfortunately it's your responsibility to chase up your own references.
Mind you, give them till the end of the week, it's not unreasonable to wait 10 days or so on a reference. Although, that doesn't help your money situation obviously!

Go to:
Start
Control Panel
Regions and Language
make sure it's UK and NOT USA
Ahhh what the computer geek told me. Thank you! B)

Hold ALT and press 64I can't remember how to fix it, but in the mean time, SHIFT + 2 will give you your @ sign back.
I don't think i trust you two - just been told to go into control panel and regional settings....

The 'at' sign seems to have disappeared from my keyboard since my dad had to put the laptop back to factory settings.
It comes up with " instead.
Anybody know what could fix it?

Awwww Chris...i'm gutted!!

RiG, how the f**k do you manage to send 1600 texts in a month? That's over 50 a day you sad b*****d!
I sent 1700 texts last month...though that will be curbed as I deleted a lot of numbers the other day in a bid not to speak to them so much, especially when drunk!
It's shocking, although I blame texting a boy non stop
Crap goalkeepers with ginger hair who make a hash of the most basic defensive play, costing your side two priceless points. He's entertainment.

If its anything like it is in Glasgow, you'll be lucky to make it to the train without a life jacket and coast guard assistance.
It can't be as bad as it was on the 29th...it was like a river trying to cross Buchanan Street....made more sense to stop for cocktails than continue shopping anyway!
It was wet and horrendously windy earlier but appears to have calmed down, no doubt that will change by 5pm

Aye, I hate that too. I start my new job tomorrow as well, but I fell asleep watching the Carling Cup final today so probably won't sleep at all tonight.
I've had about 5 hours sleep last night, had a hangover, been in the gym, walked home from the gym and then went out for a run and I still can't sleep, despite being knackered!! It's baws!
Good luck tomorrow!

I hate Sunday nights. The thought of going back to work tomorrow does not appeal. And to make matters worse, I'm having to mark essays.
I hate Sunday nights because i'm knackered due to a busy weekend, but can never get to sleep early because i've not slept till at least 3am for a few nights.....it sucks

I'm bopping around at my desk to that "A Punk" song or something that's on radio 1 - quite a catchy wee tune!

My cleaner does all that on a Thursday.
I want to actually do something, I live in London and can't think of anything to do, how sad is that?
Go out running? Gym? Lunch out? Pub? Cinema? Bowling? Go Karting? Shopping?
Tons of stuff to do!

I cried in the cinema earlier at a chick flick. It's just wrong!

I don't have this Nike malark but went out running for the first time since August last year. By god, i've missed it!
Felt i could have just kept running for ages! Good for a change from the gym/class

I don't know Hazel, it looks not too bad here at the mo lol!
Actually, what's it like in Perth just now?
Absolutely fine - just chilly!
Guess i'll just have to have a day in the pub instead...

Bloody weather.
I was looking forward to Dingwall.

My legs are fucked from football yesterday and going running today
My hamstrings are gubbed - and was killing me so much sitting at my desk that i ended up doing squats at my desk whilst sorting out some paperwork to loosen them off a bit!
Serves me right for being a gymaholic this weekend!

I could possibly hate PRI right now.
I spent the majority of last week in an utterly foul and distraught mood due to finding out my grans scan in November has shown up that she has a growth in her liver and likely to be her 2nd bout of cancer in as many years - but she got a phonecall today asking when she got a breast implant and it turns out they got her scans mixed up.
Utter disgrace.

The ref tonight is blatantly cheating for the home side. That was never a penalty/free-kick/drop ball. Saints have clearly paid him off beforehand. It's the west coast bias again. Wait, no, it's the sort of west of Fife bias.
Disgrace.
He's a shocker, but get over it and get on with it. He's as bad as every other referee around just now! Just think, my brother might end up reffing SFL games in a year or so - then you would know about it!!!

Just wait till the next Raith defeat comes along and he'll start hitting those numbers again.
Hopefully tonight

Isn't going eight days without alcohol being an achievement somewhat worrying for someone your age?
It's more the prospect of going so long - but i have a pretty active social life in which i am out on at least Friday/Saturdays and frequently Sunday's drinking...i think i've only missed out one weekend in at least 8 months with no alcohol. It's a rare occasion.
If you look at it again, I think you'll find it's a month and eight days. And yes, it would be an extraordinary achievement for me.
It will be, when you put it like that i might bring forward my planned end date. That is an age. Yes, i may have developing problems, but i guess i will grow out the party scene in a few years.

I'm off booze for a bit, probably a RTBC to be honest.
I've not drunk since 2nd Jan! An achievement for me, and i am meant to be off it until 9th Feb - will be an achievement i think as i was close to sticking the corkscrew in a bottle of wine last night...!

I think yesterday could possibly have been the shittest day of my life so far. I feel total miserable and didn't want to actually get up this morning, i am a total misery sitting at my desk, and have everyone asking what is wrong with me cos you can usually hear me giggling quite often.
Oh, and one our Service Managers is a p***k, and cause i am in a shitting bad mood i had to restrain from telling him so. W'nker.

My wisdom tooth is growing in behind my jaw bone, I'll have to have them all out. Probably cost me a minimum of £200.
Chances are they will have to chisel out parts of my jaw bone to allow them pull the tooth out with pliers, can't wait
I'm scared of that nonsense - today my face was really badly swollen that when i talked i kept catching it...think that's what's been causing sore heads too, but too scared to get the wisdom teeth out.

My nag: My inability to hold a conversation with the guy at work who is the only bit of talent we have in this building. I seen him out on Sunday, and couldn't speak to him and then i just met him when using the photocopier that he chatted and i ended up going all red and giggly like a wee school girl. I'm a disgrace.
He is incredibly hot though, so i can be forgiven can't i?

Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

I think it’s probably half the battle though, people put down HR depts. for references when in reality you should put your previous line manager down. They should then phone the HR team to ask for the dates to complete it. It makes more sense to do it that way, when we receive one we have to find out where they work, send it in the internal (snail!!!) mail and ask previous manager to complete it and return it to the requesting office. It’s so annoying.
When people receive references they generally put them to the bottom of the in tray until they are chased for them anyway!
Fingers crossed indeed.
