  1. The first week he was here Davidson was in the papers describing him as an energetic box to box midfielder. A few days later Butterfield was in the paper talking about how he couldn't get around the park as he used to. Butterfield, Gilmour and Crawford was the midfield three against Kelty six months after we won the double. Anyways, massive yes to Holt.
  2. Watching back I was too generous to Rae; he's got to do better at the first also. Losing games when opposition have lots of efforts is one thing, United had three today and we've lost two goals.
  3. That one was quite funny. I panicked at the second one not realising he'd somehow escaped a booking for the one before. Thought Saints were decent for 60 minutes and marginally the better side. Whilst not wanting to be overly simplistic, you need to take your chances and you can't gift goals. Rae has to do better at the first and the second is a disaster. Someone earlier that with Mitov in goal were probably win that and it's hard to disagree. Not news we need a senior midfielder - worrying that Levein left that out post game when talking about centre halves, wingers and cover at left back.
  4. In the shed, "Drinking in LA" playing and vouchers for TopShop as a prize. Like stepping back 30 years.
  5. Decent away crowd looks like. Under 100 tickets available in that last section before the fair play stand. Not sure if the last section beside George Fox is to be opened yet though.
  6. Not a shock about Max or Parker but leaves us very short of numbers in central areas. Assuming he doesn't rate Olufunwa, that only leaves 3 centre halves and centre midfield is only slightly better. Neilson and Keltjens' versatility helps a bit but think these moves suggest that a centre mid and centre half are close.
  7. With May leaving, it's the first time since 2014 we've no one on the books that has won a trophy with the club. It took 10 years to have no one from the 2014 and only 3 years from the double. Crazy turn over.
  8. Wright and Raymond are good wing back options but Wright in particular looks iffy in a 4. Hardly surprising though. Agree we look okay though. Couple decent center midfielders and back up a centre half and think we'll be fine. Carey is a bit of an affordable luxury sometimes and MacPherson isn't good enough to be the main middle man but, again, that's not really news.
  9. Can feel the enthusiasm for this, eh? From a saints PoV hope it will be a similar line up again with Carey in at LWB if Raymond doesn't make. I'd love him to drop Macpherson but it's not likely to happen. Horrible feeling he'll over think it and go to a 5-2-3 or put Clark in as a number 10 in place of Kimpioka or Sidebeh. Hard to say how we get on in this. Back three looked better at Killie but weren't really tested that much . The first half against Aberdeen showed the weaknesses and the worry here is the midfield aren't competitive enough at the moment to get any control at any point of the game. The flip is we carry a real threat now that's suited against teams that defend high. Read that sales have been disappointing for this one? Shame as a pay day felt like the consolation for this draw
  10. Maclean and May got 37 between them in 13/14 but struggling beyond that. Jackson and Deuchar in the championship probably the only other recent time I can think of when more than one striker got to double figures. ETA - May and Maclean took 14 games to get to 11 although only one of those games came against a lower division side and that was Hamilton in the championship. 4 of the games were in European competition
  11. Watching it back again I can't get over what a stupid second booking that is. Never getting there and no threat either. We've been good. Smiths looked good again and the two wing backs and strikers are carrying a real threat. We're a couple of centre midfielders and a centre half away from being fine in this league. As an aside, we've been far too nice over the last couple of seasons so it was nice to see Smith being a bit of arse at both bookings.
  12. Enjoying saints tv doing everything to avoid mentioning it
