It'd be 12.5 wouldn't it? 9 points for the wins and 3.5 for the 7 draws. So 3.125 for the season so far.

Yup, already beaten our total for 2015/16 in the beginning of August.

We do move on and it is a very good piece of business given the big man was only here for a season. But then I see the possibility of Scott McKenna being sold for around £4m ! Good luck Aberdeen if they get that - but if they do then it maybe highlights that had we held on to Kipre then we could have got more down the line.

At the same time we could have gotten much less to almost nothing.  £1m to Aberdeen means a lot less than it does to us, and if we get that sort of offer for a 1 season player (who wasn't looking anywhere near his former self in pre-season), we have to take it.  We talk a lot about the perceived "value" of players, but at the end of the day, every club has a price they're willing to sell everyone at, and ours is lower than Aberdeen's (and most clubs know that).

I'm really gutted to see Cedric go, but he's the first one we've let go in a long time that I actually feel has the natural ability to make it to the EPL, just as long as he applies that talent fully.  Would love to see him bodying Salah in a couple of years.

  3. Not really, but its cool to be mentioned in a video like this.  I just like giving kudos to the young guys whenever I can, I remember my time as a season ticket holder in the mid-late 90s when I was younger in a dreary atmosphere, wishing we had something like what they do now to liven up the place.  Although we sat in the main stand so shit like that was never going to happen there.

Yeah...2 points (1 for each win) divided by the 4 teams. 0.5 points extra. Points for wins/draws are doubled in the group stages.

Yea, don't know what I was thinking there...

During those 25 games Rangers got past Fiorentina in the Europa League semi final and competed in the final. Those games alone probably scored more points than any other club outside Celtic in the past 5 seasons combined so it's a bit harsh to attach too much blame to Rangers, especially considering the nation was ranked as high as it was mainly due to the efforts of two teams. Most of the blame has to go to the other ten clubs who consistently go out in qualifiers to teams they should probably be winning against.

Anyway's... massive congratulations to Aberdeen for advancing to the next round. Them being in Europe this season, from a purely selfish perspective, can only be good for Rangers. One, if they qualify for the groups it's a distraction from the league and two, the coefficient points could help Rangers' seeding when we qualify for next season. Hibs were unlucky but Hearts? well, that's my point, the other clubs aren't pulling their weight for the most part.

The Old Firm have been equally as culpable at that, so let's agree to say that none of us have been pulling our weight as much as we could.  That being said though, if we deride the clubs for losing to unseeded sides, praise must then be heaped on those that overcome their seeded opponents so Aberdeen's 3 years in a row of doing just that should be applauded.  They must be one of the only clubs in Europe to have done accomplished something like that.

Who do we think were the 3 countries above Scotland in 1984? Maybe England, Germany & Italy?

    1. Germany 2. England 3. Spain, Italy were 5th

  6. Because it's a 5 year average, also the reason we're still up their as we got a shit ton of points just for being in the CL qualifiers, regardless of the result.  Its why its good to see Aberdeen making Europe time after time, most seasons its been musical chairs for the teams outwith the old firm for who qualifies, and leads to our clubs having poor club coefficients and poor seedings.  If they make it next season Aberdeen will finally be seeded in QR2, and if they get to playoffs both seasons, there's a good chance the season after that they'll be seeded in QR3.

Hibs would've gotten some club coefficient points for being in the next round, but the country wouldn't receive any, and its unlikely the extra points for them will make a difference any time soon.

  7. Getting all those 3.5 points would have us at 2.75 right now and clearly in 1st place in Europe as of right now.  Every country that's gunning for the top 15 has teams dropping points early to teams they shouldn't.  We're in a much better position this season than Poland and Norway and about an equally good position as Sweden.

Celtic really need to make a good run this year though.  Club coefficient-wise they're about to lose their 12/13 season which will drop them way down the rankings.  The past seasons they're been seeded basically the whole way to the group stages, next year the might not even be seeded in the 3rd round.

Do points count for 90 minute results or for the full extra time? Regarding Hibs

It's the result after extra time that counts.  When Motherwell lost to Stjarnan 3-2 AET, it counted as a loss for the coefficient.

  9. Sometimes when people tell me secrets I tell other people them too if they are higher up on the friendship scale.

Maybe I'm a bad man or maybe Catlin just wasn't as liked as Lyanna I don't know.

Catelyn could have and probably was more liked by the time the show starts but at the time he made the promise, he's only ever really seen her once, the night they got married.  Over the years he grew to love Catelyn, but it would take a long time for her to surpass Lyanna I think, at which point he might have been waiting to tell Jon first.

  10. I've always been a big fan of the theory that Jon Snow = Azor Ahai reborn and the way they handled the finale has me completely convinced that the theory is spot on.

Has Azor Ahai been mentioned in the show at all? In the books with the whole bleeding star, salt and smoke shit it's pretty blatant but prophecy has been barely touched upon in the show, they even cut the valonqar bit from Cersei's one.

  11. re: Sansa and Theon surviving

I've never gotten this fascination people have with Gendry, he's a pretty cool character sure but narratively unimportant. Jon Snow shows how little is thought of recognized b*****ds in Westeros, never mind unrecognized ones, and with his Dad deid, there's no way to legitimize him now. He could maybe show up to get burned by Melisandre, but if it would just be for that, I'd rather he stayed on his boat.

Season 6 casting shit (spoiling just in case people don't want to hear about this):

Casting for next season indicates Theon's Uncle's might be in after all, hope they don't f**k up Euron and Victarion like they did Dorne.
