  1. Surely you weren’t working/volunteering/performing your duties for QoS all the way back then? I do agree with your point though. Would be nice to make a tournament of it and make it something of a tradition.
  2. I’d rather take the payday now than at the end of September. Obviously getting an unseeded lesser team like Forfar, Stirling Albion or Falkirk would be great and something of a cup run would be exciting. But equally, we could get beat by a Raith, Morton or Livi at home in front of a smaller crowd than an average league game which is about the worst outcome possible. One of the Old Firm > prize and gate money > welcome back Mr McInroy
  3. Anyone heading along to Bellshill tonight? I won’t make it but hope it goes well. He is one of Airdrie, Scotland and the world’s best ever players after all. Hope it becomes an annual event and ideally played earlier in the season so we can send a proper team to it. *Announce Chelsea and Newcastle’s participation next season*.
  4. I do love that you hear the Inverness fans cheering as if they’ve scored right after his save.
  5. Has Euan East signed anywhere yet? If he wanted to try his luck elsewhere, presumably for better wages, he’s running out of options and time. Likewise I don’t think Darren/Agent O’Reilly has signed for a team yet? No idea if we were in for him or would be interested but he is the sort of centre-half we could do with. Brody Paterson? Centre-half and left-back has to be the priority although I still wouldn’t mind another midfielder, especially if Devenny does leave.
  6. Looking forward to getting Forfar, getting beat and missing out on the money spinner tie.
  7. Brilliant result and great resolve from the team to stick at it and not let the heads go down. Controlled the first-half, played some nice football, won the ball back quickly and limited Inverness. As @++Ammo - Airdrie++ will tell you , Ballantyne’s goal was lovely. Really good run and shot (and excellent decoy run from McGregor). Telfer’s goal was at the far end so it was difficult to really see it but looked like we did well to take advantage of some slack defending. Looking forward to seeing it back. We did fall out the game in the second-half however. I know we were carrying a few knocks but we do need some more bodies in as lack of subs or depth off the bench will kill us like it nearly did tonight. Frizzell, who I think was already carrying a knock, and Todorov looked fucked at points. I know McCabe was carrying a knock and Devenny is presumably not playing until he’s sold, but don’t understand why Aiken didn’t come on until injury time. That being said, it thankfully didn’t matter in the end tonight! As said above, brilliant attitude and fight from the team to dig out the result and Todorov did well to finish off the chance. Hope everyone enjoyed their trip and safe journey home
  8. I’m lucky because I’m off work and have family up there so going to stay for a few days. Will miss Saturday’s game but we’ll have hopefully more or less secured qualification by then Muhamet Gashi started following the club on Twitter
  9. Saw McCabe possibly hinting at making a few changes to the team tomorrow. Not sure there’s much scope to do that without largely reducing the quality of the starting XI other than Todorov for Gal, O’Connor for McGregor and maybe Telfer for Aiken, assuming Devenny is getting the cotton wool treatment. I certainly wouldn’t risk anyone who’s not 100% fit but equally we should be going up there looking to play as strong a team as possible and win.
  10. Decent enough move for him. Hope it works out and he can finally put a proper run of games together. If you pip Falkirk and Accies to the title that’d be just grand @CoveRangers1922
  11. I assume as well that an emergency loan can only last a minimal amount of time. So if Rae was to get another long-term injury we’d either have to play Hutton or sign a youngster on a longer-term loan (who probably won’t be as good as one available on an emergency loan) or a dafty like Dean Lyness. Neither of which is ideal. I suppose Rae getting injured isn’t that likely but it’s not impossible obviously. Presumably none of the academy goalkeepers are deemed ‘ready’ since we never see them on the bench and it’s Liam Prunty who warms up with Rae + Hutton rather than any of them?
  12. Can’t believe this hasn’t been commented upon but… the steak pies were £4 today.
  13. I’ll be doing what the old boys used to do back in the day and spending one week at New Broomfield and the other at Cliftonhill. When they do it it’s gamesmanship. When we do it’s intelligent play Heard it too.
  14. Back home in Glasgow. Can still hear the echo of O’Connor’s tackle.
  15. Thought the game was pedestrian until Dundee’s penalty, but it did liven up after that and ended up being a decent cup tie. Dundee were more physical than us, though we did compete well, but they never really created anything when they had the ball. Don’t remember Rae having a save to make and the defence dealt with their battles well. Ballantyne and ATS were particularly good IMO. I don’t think ATS has got the legs to play in the Championship every week, but there’s no doubting him brains or ability wise. Tiffoney was kept quiet which is easier said than done, barring his dive for the penalty. GIRUY Thistle rat Agreed with the positive comments on Aiken. He’s clearly raw and there were a few times he took the wrong option or was maybe in the wrong position. But there were other times where I thought he won the ball really well, his tackle from behind on Boateng in particular, and where he progressed play. I think he’s going to be your typical young player in terms of being up and down but I’m looking forward to seeing how develops as the season progresses. Gal and Frizzell both put in their typical shift and had some moments of good play. Frizzell is still a safe bet for being the best player on the park. Not convinced by McGregor or O’Connor yet as starters. They’re certainly not of the quality or consistency of Smith, yet. But there’s facets of both of their games that I like. I think O’Connor in particular looks as if he lacks a bit of confidence. Hopefully that will come with game time. Thought Colin Steven really lost the run of that game towards the end. Some odd booking decisions either way, including the bookings for Todorov and O’Connor. Great to have 6/6 points, two home wins and clean sheets and to be in the mix for the qualifying. Two positive results next week will hopefully see us there. For the first time since they re-introduced the group stages! A money-spinner tie could make a real difference RE the transfer budget.
  16. Good old Jackie It looked a dive from where I was sitting but TBF, Rae’s reputation does precede him!
  17. Think the new home kit is a beaut. Agreed that the stripes down the side look better in the worn pics. I like the neckline too. Friends with Football Nation again
