  1. first half a carbon copy of last weeks first half, playing into the wind and couldn't get over the half way line. Morton completely dominated and Cadden had full back on toast (both Mercer and Lyon). Can anyone tell me who won the toss and whether Morton (and Dundee) decided to play with the wind or was it a case of Queens wanting to shoot into Portland Road end in second half as always
  2. I meant to ask - hope the person who fell in front of main stand yesterday is OK. Never nice to see first aided and ambulance doing what they always do so well
  3. First half we were battered constantly and couldn't get out of our half due to the strong wind. I couldn't wait for second half when we had it behind us and lay siege on Dundee goal. It didn't happen - did the wind die, were we just awful first half or did Dundee play better into wind than us
  4. Thought the team was set up today not to lose rather than try to win the match. We were crying out for a change before they scored and I know Oliver was ready to come on was too late as damage was done. After we went a goal down I actually thought we pushed forward more although there was no end result.
  5. Any news on Mercer injury? Defence hasn't been the same since he was injured
  6. It's a tighter league (apart from Dundee Utd) so what do we need 5 wins would take us to 41pts - would this be enough and can you see us getting them. The last 4/5 matches were winnable and not only are you winning 3pts you are taking points of your direct opponents. The next 4/5 games are against the so called bigger clubs. knowing Queens we may win one or two of these
  7. My thoughts exactly - what else is there to do on Saturday in the winter. Even by the time April comes I have other things to do on Saturday and I give going to football serious thought.
  8. Agree both in an attacking and defending sense. Everytime pars got a corner I just thought here we go again but never felt the same confidence when we got a corner
  9. I think you are right apart from the first 5mins when they were at sixes and sevens. Both grew into the game
  10. Restarts - we get plenty of practice but is there actually have a plan. It seems to be pass back to centre half and play long into the corner before any of our players get anywhere near. Maybe idea is defender has to head ball forward and pick up second ball. Compare that with pars restarts, by time ball gets played forward attackers are there to compete. 1st goal - worse than I thought at the time as we failed to respond 3 times as ball was there to be attacked, seemed to be on the backfoot each time and not quick enough to respond 2nd goal if Lyon hadn't left near post he would have blocked goal 3rd goal - any kind of jump from Holt would have made it more difficult for Ashcroft Defending corners - our keeper has no chance coming for the ball as blocked by an attacker and usually a defender right in front of him
  11. The et up defensively for a corer is shocking, everyone in and around 4 yards of the 6 yard box, just invites a short corner, possession to pars if cleared, pars time to run onto the crossed ball while our players are static. The second pars goal was comically the distance he came to side foot the low corner into the near post Then check out set up when we get a corner, it just feels as if it's a ball into the middle in hit and hope fashion, that's when Dobbie does beat the first man. Could have been 4 goals in the first 2 mins but afterwards corners apart thought Wilson and Devine did OK. Devine got better as the game went on
  12. For the first goal I thought dobbie tried too much on the ball and once beat Alloa broke down their right. Brownlie had to play the ball as there was a forward behind him but he didn't need to head it straight to Alloa. For the second everyone could see Mercer was struggling having took a sore one a minuet earlier. Alloa played a long diagonal ball that Mercer couldn't cut out and due to his injury was well beat for pace. Third goal came about because Paton got bundled off the ball in midfield and instead of getting up and getting back into position stayed on the ground. When ball was again played out Alloa right Dobbie was easily beat when he should have tried to stand up to his man or delay his progress, he didn't track back and there was no Holt or central midfielder (Devine) available to cut out the cross into the box. the rest is history
  13. We needed a keeper for Saturday - who is to say the new keeper won't be on the bench with Leighfield starting. Or dId we have a No 2 at the club this morning?
  14. I would have been happy with Dobbie playing off Hamilton. That is what worked with Dykes partnership and I think gives him more time and space than playing sole role up front. It didn't work today and I thought at time his first touch and lay off were awful. It takes time to form partnerships and I though Hamilton did OK. He didn't gave centre halves time to settle - just take time to forge that partnership
  15. Pybus got booked today agin... really doing well in midfield, a bit like Bowser, a box to box player and not frightened to put in a challenge. What is new ruling on bookings, is that 5th booking and now due a suspension or do they get wiped after half a season? Also though Lyon done a great job in midfield today, good positional sense and good passing options
  16. Do Queens players get a bonus for playing? Are things so tight that we couldn't afford to bring on any subs today. I thought after 65-70 mins and as the game went on the game was dying out for change. Maybe Paton in midfield or Hamilton up front to offer some height and a focal point. Even when we went 2 up I would have put a sub on to rub down the clock and break up the play
  17. Any news on injury front for tomorrow - will Pybus or Dobbie be back
  18. Queens and Ayr United have both been served a notice of complaint by the SFA for allegedly failing to control their players during the ill tempered championship clash on 9 November. A principal hearing ahs been set for a week on Thursday.
  19. Meant to ask last night what are the rules of the game surrounding the use of the match ball? In second half each ball boy had a ball and when ball went out of play they would throw ball back they were holding to speed up the game. The ref and Queens Park players insisted the 'match' ball was used. Do you have to the use the match ball all the way though the game or can you use a multiball system at teams discretion? Are there different rules for different competitions - sure at International matches they use multi ball system? I realise if ball goes out the stadium then another ball can be used
  20. It's the fact both games over lap rather than no game being played. Nothing you can do about UEFA scheduling (that's another issue all together and that also reflects dwindling attendances at International match along with success) but why not move it to 4.30pm give supporters time to get from pub or home to the match or the Friday night, sunday option
  21. A fair few Queens supporters away to Cyrus this weekend so will miss the trip. Why oh why do they have a Scotland match on Sky at same time as all lower league matches. That is not going to encourage extra crowds with premiership games being postponed. I know Scotland aren't doing too well but I guess a number of supporters of all teams (specially away teams) may just decide to have a afternoon in the pub instead of going to a game TV wins again
  22. How many attempts did Dobbie have tonight - 11?? I'm sure he would have taken some of these last season. Thought all threat went in first half when Hamilton was pulled out right midfield and Pybus went centrally and when Hamilton went off.
