    There’s no revisionism at all.

He is a very decent Championship midfielder who’s good at breaking up attacks and has a good range of passing. However since we’ve been in the Championship he’s not been particularly useful unless he’s got 2 other midfielders around him hence why he’s been pretty good this season in the 4-3-3. He’s slow on the ball which leads to him being caught in possession and is easily wound up which leads to a lot of wild and out of control tackles.

I’d rather he stayed but out of all the players we could lose he’s not the biggest miss.

I’ve no doubt he’s good in the dressing room but McCall admitted when he gave him the captaincy that he’s not particularly vocal. I had no issue with him getting the captaincy as we’d just been relegated and he’s an absolute stand out in League 1 but it mainly given to him to get him to stay.

Wait a minute, earlier on he was only a 'replaceable, solid, mid table championship' player; but now he's 'a very decent championship midfielder...good at breaking up attacks and has a good range of passing.' Come on, which one is he?

Agree with Mantis that 2-2 would have been a fair result based on pressure and possession. Plastic Whistle set out their store to park the bus, defend deep and in numbers. BUT we just did not have the guile or the finishing touch to punish them. We tried to play like Barcelona but ended up looking like a Sunday League team. That is not the tactics on a frckin freezing, gale force windy, pisssing rain, waterlogged playing surface day. And we NEVER used width or attacked the bye line. The only times that we looked like scoring was from dead balls hoofed into the goalmouth. And Ridgers made 4-5 excellent saves whereas Fox was rarely tested. At Alloa I discarded the Smileys as it was a 3-4 all round performance. I will refrain until the morning !! But put it like this my train has been delayed due to damage to overhead lined. I can be wholly assured that such damage could not have been inflicted by Jordan White but the replacement was as late as Robbo's substitutions.  To me it is when other teams try to play football that we play football against them - and our defence and midfield relish. When we face teams that are defensive and encouraging US to take the initiative - we simply do not have the ammunition to blow the bestards away. Lets face it - Plastic Whistle were there for the taking. We simply have NOTHING up front. It has to be time to ditch White, Storey and Doran ?

Oh and introduce Todorov, McGregor and Walsh (when fit)

But not on chances created. PTFC deserved to win this game:  more incisive, more chances created.  The only time ICT looked like scoring was when they had a set piece. And to add: teams that 'park the bus' don't create more chances than the opposition.

Obviously he scored today and wasn’t awful but I don’t get De Vita. No idea what position he’s (supposed to be) playing. Kakay looked very good today. Never want to see O’Ware in midfield again.

Pretty clear what McCall thinks of Mansell if he wouldn’t bring him on today.

Tam O'Ware played very well in midfield today.  Gave us protection and physically that we have sorely missed .

Imagine telling a Partick Thistle fan 4 or 5 years ago that Ian McCall would be back as manager and they'd be chuffed with it.

All the revisionism in the world won't change that fact you'd all have been appalled.

Nonsense. McCall is widely credited for laying the foundations of one of our most successful periods.  I was disappointed when he left and I'm delighted he's back.

So that’s GC played his final hand. We’re going with one experienced striker who knows where the goal is. If Miller gets a long term injury/when his hip goes, we’re well and truly gubbed.

A squad of journeymen, inexperienced lower league players and duds.

    We’ve been here before.

The sooner GC is gone the better.

Did Archie not get us top six with a squad of journeymen and inexperienced lower league players?

Main concern is that outside Cardle we have zero creativity, the 1st goal came from his blocked shot, the 2nd was a direct assist from the FK, and the 3rd was due to his pass in behind the LB for Williamson. Without obviously seeing Austin if JC gets injured we are in trouble.

Other concerns: we might be the smallest team in the SPFL and at set pieces we are going to leak goals, Joe Cardle man marking a Clyde player at the last corner of the game was terrifying. We switched off after every goal again.  Williamson will struggle against better wingers - and I can't believe Johnston fell as far as league 2 last season unless he's one of those guys that only plays well against us. O'Ware, Penrice, and Palmer all  being / getting injured clearly isn't good although we do have 10 days til our next game.

I've seen Thistle concede exactly 2 goals like Clyde's second in 32 years of going to Firhill and they've both been vs Clyde at Firhill. Sneddon should be in ahead of Fox.

Poistives: I always thought Cardle was an overrated showpony based on one hat trick vs us but if he can not shoot from 30 yards so often he will be key. McGinty won everything he was asked to and kept it simple.  Gordon is an enigma, hardly touches the ball at times then you realise he scored 2 and could easily have had 4 goals  tonight. De Vita will be class once up to speed. Was good for Miller to get a goal at Firhill as well. Also impressed with Callum Wilson's running and ball retention in the last few minutes, I'm not going to be too quick to write him off.

There were certainly one or two of things to be concerned about last night but I'd disagree that there's zero creativity. There were plenty of chances created last night from a number of areas.  Cardle, whilst having a good game overall, at times  impeded our creativity by taking the wrong option:being greedy, shooting when a quick pass was better.

We don't play the same formation every week.

The more attacking players we have in general, the less chance Coulibaly has of playing.

Plus, as in the previous post, he can and does play as a striker, so even if we did play the exact same formation every week, signing Scott McDonald negatively impacts on his place in the squad.

True, we don't. We play two up, or one up front and two off.  They can both be accommodated easily  in either formation.

Thistle once again trying to corner the market in cringeworthy statements?

Considering he was linked with the Falkirk job and applied and was then heavily linked with Partick a few days before he was appointed suggests that most of the teams in the league would’ve expected a team to appoint him at some point.

I think she means he is a relatively unknown quantity up here regarding his tactics and how he will set his team up in contrast to ' been roon the hooses' types like McIntyre and Hughes.
