  1. Widge

    Fifa 23

Third free pack opened and I packed a tradeable Cannavaro, that still won't be enough to convince me to buy the game properly I don't think!
  2. I assume that Cammy Ballantyne is never going to make it with us now?
  3. The thing with Bair is he looks lethargic even if he's coming on after 70 minutes against tired defenders. I know that's his style and we've had "lazy" players do really well for us before, but I think he needs to apply himself just that little bit more when he gets the chance. He could easily use his bulk more effectively by peeling on to smaller fullbacks and making them scared. Even his presence should be creating space for others, even if he does nothing with it. But we're not quite seeing that just yet. I think he can still be a useful option in our squad, but you've got to weight up the cost/time/reward of it all.
  4. On the evidence of yesterday, Liam Gordon gets dropped from the defence once we’ve a fit midfielder back, with Mitchell playing centrally and McGowan going right and being asked to play a little more like he did in midfield. Guess the issue with that, is Wright gets caught and you’re totally exposed down that side. I thought we looked ok yesterday with some neat play and touches, but as others have alluded to, it broke down all to easily at the 18 yard line. I think Carey would have helped and I’d liked to have seen Max on for Murphy a lot earlier rather than Crawford.
  5. Slightly different stopping a counter attack against doing it in the box before the ball has even be n delivered.
  6. Our defence isn’t rubbish though? If anything it’s the best part of our team. It’s our lack of attack that’s the issue.
  7. What part of Perth is in Aberdeenshire? If you’re going to make joke, don’t make a rip roaring c**t of it at least.
  8. I said the same thing yesterday during the game. He’s no world beater, but he’s solid and cares and actually much like the other defenders will stick his body on the line if require much like the other defenders.
  9. I think it’s a sad indictment of where we’re at at the general apathy around saints, that despite winning 3-0 at home my father and I still came out the ground moaning. We still didn’t see the result as a good one, as there was so many things that we were still guilty of or the manager wasn’t doing. Ultimately the team winning is the most important part of it, but even after a convincing win we didn’t come out eulogising about how amazing we were, it was the exact opposite.
  10. If we need to lose 9-0 for Davidson to be jettisoned, then it's short term pain!
  11. Ralph Hassenhutle has lost 9-0 twice as Southampton boss and hasn’t been punted, so it’s not like it’s an immediate death sentence as a manager.
  12. For a team that doesn't score goals if we did sign Snodgrass, we could realistically field a team with 6 players in it, who'd all class being an attacking midfielder/number 10 as their best role! Even Davidson isn't that stupid....ohhh wait!
  13. The one thing we may have in our favour was Godwin’s fascination with matching up to us when he was at St Mirren. For whatever reason he always changed their shape to play something that didn’t work and the players weren’t familiar with. Either way this is my first competitive game for a variety of reasons this season, so fully expecting to be disappointed once again.
  14. Aye but John Robertson was 20/21 at that point and we didn't have any other options. Taylor Steven is only 17, so has a good number of years on Robertson.
  15. I agree; however there's signs albeit small ones that this squad might be a bit of a different animal to last seasons. There's still fight and application that wasn't seen last season and for all we can moan about not having a striker, our attacking players are already contributing more than they did last year. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy, far from it. The football is still negative and boring for the most part and I don't want Davidson as our manager long term, but there's a little more optimism than last season.
  16. These are my thoughts and sentiments too. He's still only 22 and is exactly the sort of player we should have been signing all transfer window. Fair enough Murphy has contributed and Carey looks like he has moments of real class about him, but young guys hungry to prove themselves should be our aim. I suspect he'll end up with more cards than Liam Craig did last season, but for a while we've been a soft touch and not had anyone to effectively put themselves about in midfield since McCann left, so it's a welcome addition. Especially if it frees Hallberg up to push further forward as he's being wasted deeper.
  17. Thing is and I wasn’t at the game so can’t confirm if this is correct. We were actually on top in another first half, similar to the Ayr game and for some inexplicable reason come out after half time and play worse. You’ve got to wonder what the hell the management team are saying to the players in the changing room!
  18. The real question is, what minute with Paul McGinn inevitably score against us in?
  19. Could never fault Middletons ethos and passion for the game, you just questioned his end product at times. Not tonight though, a simply excellent goal from back to front. He just needs to perform consistently now and United have a great player. Levitt is the stand out in this team though, terrific player.
  20. Why are we constantly bottom of every table right now!! Either way, these tables never take into account the actual lowest ticket price you can get in with.
  21. And there’s Ross Sinclair off to join Montrose for the season. The reasoning behind Parish playing has become a little more apparent I guess.
  22. Presumably we’re letting him leave for nothing and not paying him a severance, so you’ve got to imagine he’s on a pretty decent wage. Hopefully that lets us spend it on another more useful player and his replacement is a cheap back up on loan.
  23. If he's decided Mahon isn't good enough after 4 games and no run of form and Cleary wants away, then you can once again add this to another long list of f**k ups that Davidson has overseen. You've got Cleary (assuming he stays), Mahon, Gordon, Considine, McGowan, Brown all capable of playing centreback, there's zero reason for brining another one in whilst just ignoring the obvious and gaping holes in our squad.
  24. I think a lot of people, including myself were seeing Max as the shining light of pre-season; however I don't think he's quite ready to be thrown in the deep end. It was probably based more on the rest of the options at the time being shite. I 6 month loan to the Championship would be ideal, somewhere like Inverness or even Arbroath where we can keep an eye on him from. Crawford being punted would be ideal, as would O'Halloran. Neither are god enough and are only going to sit gathering a wage. Ideally we'd be bringing in a wing back to replace O'Halloran and another midfielder to take Crawfords spot. Spooney isn't far away from being in squads, albeit with no match fitness. Then it's just a keeper and striker that we need.
  25. The worry is, he’s 28 and been a back up keeper for the entirety of his career. There’s usually a reason for that!
