  1. Managed to get a couple bottles as birthday gifts this week.

An Arran amarone cask finish and a Highland Park 18.

I tried the Arran at a distillery tasting and would have bought it there and then if I hadn’t already picked another bottle to take with me.

The Highland Park 18 may sit for a while before i eventually open it.

  2. Another question for you lads that I think might spark a little debate.

I've been invited to a Whisky tasting at my mates house. It will be a blind tasting with marks for nose/palate/finish deciding the winner of the prize. There's a £50 limit on the whisky you can bring.

My question is. . . If this was you, what whisky would you take?

Bunnahabhain 12 was a fantastic shout. Had a few last night and really enjoyed it.

Was almost like treacle, found it to be very sweet but I actually enjoyed that and that bit more strength was quite welcome too. Didn't really get much smoke off it at all though if I'm honest.

  4. Picked up a few bottles recently and received a few as gifts from clients, built up a decent wee collection, isnt Whisky great

    Nice!

I notice you've got a bottle of Tomintoul. I received a wee gift pack of 3 different Tomintouls fir Christmas which I'm looking forward to trying. 10, 16 and 25 year olds so should be a wee treat!

  5. Thanks very much for the advice gents!

I've been keen to try Talisker but will be headed up to Skye with the Mrs in March so I've decided I'm going to visit the distillery and let that be the first time I sample it. May be a silly idea but that's what's came into my head.

Decided to pick up a bottle of Bunnahabhain 12 tonight to try over the weekend.

I shall report back with my verdict.

    Cheers!

  6. Awright lads looking for a bit of advice.

I've started to drink Whisky in the last year and have tried a few which I have liked to varying degrees. The one which I have really enjoyed though is Highland Park 12 which I'm reliably informed is a "Good all rounder".

I've enjoyed the slightly smokey flavour and was looking to branch out in to slightly more peatier whisky, although I'm conscious to add that I have tried an Arbeg 10 at a whisky tasting in the summer and it was far too much for me.

Any recommendations that anyone can think of?

  7. First of all, wouldn't you do the same? Secondly, I think it's a great advert.

I'll second that. When I saw this opening night I thought it was a fantastic advert.

Also backed up by the fact that he actually did play pretty well when Brees got injured.
