I thought as soon as Albion Rovers v Talbot came out that will be the BBC game as two names well known to Scottish football fans with what should be a close game with potential of higher division team losing out although upset would be a bit strong if Talbot were to win.

Aye, putting all politics aside, that is the game that grabs you by the throat....on reputation at least.

Thought a draw was a fair result, but Bo’ness still not up to speed. Was not impressed by Smarticus. Two shots he got off, one just wide, and second hitting bar were fine, but he just looked totally out of place otherwise. Hopefully game time will tell.

Have to disagree there.  He made some fine arcing runs around the defence that were not picked up by his teammates.  More training and playing together should sort that out.  Oh and he had a third shot, on target in the first 45.

Any truth in porteous to bonnyrigg ? local to the area and a step up of course ?

Ignoring the lame fishing attempt, any club would have to fork out at least 10k.

Fin Malcolm signed up for another year. Slightly surprised but his second half of the season was an improvement and hopefully with Mitchell there won't be as much pressure on him to give us the goals.

I'll admit to being a critic of his but I think we forget he still qualifies for a game with our U-20's.

He did show promising signs towards the end of the season and hopefully will improve further.

I was thinking about this , upgrade to 300 lux lights , more covered area , doctor etc , would be 10s of thousands of pounds .

All this on a pipe dream which most fans don’t want anyway .

Where would NPA get that money from .

Could take many years to be in a position to go up and by that time the goalposts will have moved again , costing more money .

With SFA and SPFL the goals certainly do move !!

My suggestion would be for the 2 clubs to finance along with NPA .

Have you any other suggestions ?

    I agree it's all a pipe dream.

I am sure that the mythical 'hub' will suffer the same fate as the infamous 'marina' of a few years back.

I, for one, have no interest into entering into any deals with the parasites.  They have shown on many occasions they are not to be trusted.

In a form of utopia, I would leave Newtown and have a new ground, purpose-built from scratch but money and space are a problem, I know.

Can the football club not pay for improvements if thats their home?

Why would we pay for suchlike when we pay a rent?  Any improvements we made would only benefit the parasites too.

  7. Unfortunately, the NPA do not care for upgrading the ground.  They see it as a community facility not a football one, ignoring the fact that 99.9% of current activities are football.

  8. So it's Stranraer who will face EK in the play off.  Not sure who I want to win though but I expect EK to just pull through.

Distance is a pain but at at least it's only one match there.  Better be a Saturday fixture though.

  9. One other point whilst we are reviewing our season, is the vast improvement in discipline.  Obviously, Jamie McCormack being away has helped but it's good to see the old poachers, Hunts and Gemmell, have turned gamekeepers.

    So is it;

League Cup: EK and Bo'ness Utd

SPFL Trophy: EK, Bo'ness, Cumbernauld and Tranent (plus the B teams)

Not necessarily.  It depends entirely on the old pals act.  Cowdenbeath got in last year without merit.  It is shameful that it isn't clear at a season's end.

  11. The big difference this year is that we HAVE signed up our existing players and seriously looking at the few who will need to be added.

Previous years under Max had been a last minute dash and we ended up with players more concerned about their pockets than their football.

Think there was a bit of a fall out between the clubs around about then too, united initially thought there would be some link up between the clubs and they would work together but it became clear athletic wanted to be there own, I think that will prevent any future merger too.

athletic need to keep a bo’ness identity as that is why they can play at newtown as the land was donated to the people of bo’ness

Not a case of thought, actually a case of promises broken.  The owner 'promised' that his side had no intentions of challenging United and wanted players to step up from them to ourselves.  Every promise made at a members' meeting was broken.  They don't need a Bo'ness identity, all their owner is interested in is the size of his ego

f**k off and learn some basic social skills. The idea that there needs to be one rather than two Bo'ness clubs for there to be the maximum chance of further progression is nothing more than basic common sense.

I need social skills?  I didn't resort to swearing at you.  The basic common sense here is that there was one club, until a bunch of interlopers copied our strip, badge and installed themselves outwith the town of their origin.

Red dot for that? WTF is wrong with some people on here.

A red dot for possibly the daftest suggestion you've made and there have been several to pick from.  The 'parasites' are not welcome.

    A merger makes perfect sense.

At the moment it looks like one club with drive and ambition and then you have United stuck in the 80's.

I don't often post these days but for you I'll make an exception.  You are a shit-stirring ****, with the brain of a pea.

    You are very welcome!

Only good thing about the Derby is the 6 points we are guaranteed.

Dunderheid, I know you are trolling but here are the league stats between the sides

Bo'ness United Won 55, wee rose won 51, with 27 draws.

So even in your wildest dreams you'll be a while catching up.

  17. I thought the rules for 'B' teams were 5 games in the first team and you are out of the B's.  Is that correct?

Because if so Hearts flouted the rules on Saturday against Bo'ness, by playing Lewis Neilson, who has already made 10 league appearances this season (4 starts & 6 subs), as well as games in the League Cup and Europe.  Don't they have enough of an advantage already?

From their programme it also looks like he played against the Shire and Stirling Uni recently too.

  18. Back to big team business (the only type this thread should contain).

Absolute nonsense , if you don’t win the league or get relegated the position you finish is pretty irrelevant especially if it’s half way down the league .

I am a BU fan from an early age , no pretending , can you say that ?

Note you were quick to get back with my comment there but never answered my last one to you .

    You wrote -

The clubs with low running costs can greedily take the money but we have to pay extra rent for having these three in.

I asked how that could be ?

From your knowledge on this matter, it seems apparent you are part of the NPA committee, as you know the rental side.

Trying to boast you are a fan of many years doesn't cut the mustard when all I have ever seen you write on here is criticism of the team.  Not once have you praised them for a winning performance.  Why is that, oh super fan?

I feared this type of thinking would come to the fore if a change of manager managed to get some favourable results .

All this wee run has done is paper over the gaping cracks that will still be there if this squad is not vastly improved.

It is not advisable to get carried away with wins when it matters little.Players these days down tools early, signing pre contracts for next season at other clubs etc.

We must improve next season when it really matters by being far more consistent mid season especially when all teams are at full throttle.

The standard of the Lowland league this season has dropped off and that includes the hated B teams who have shown little quality so ninth place is poor Jambo in my opinion.

I feared that this type of fan would never be happy.  Because you can't criticise Little for his start and end to the season, you jump on the middle for your moan.

You think the squad needs vastly improved.  Who exactly has overrun us this season, outwith the gruesome twosome?

Of course we want to do better but please, some credit to the guys instead of all the moaning.

Wow , we will be talking about that in years to come surely !

Why do you bother pretending you are a BU fan.  It's not a celebration but an acknowledgement that we have reached such a position, when we are punching above our weight financially.
