Likewise my honest opinion, would appear to be relevant. It is a football forum after all.
If you can tell me what 'benefit' it would have, me playing happy clapper rather than air my honest opinion on the deal, then please share and I'll decide whether it would make sense to be blindly optimistic.0 -
Thanks for letting me know its a football forum. Enjoy the close season. To be clear, I support Queens like you do, wish them success at every level, even when they have the likes of Billy Gordon bossing the midfield, but Johnston now has a 2 year contract. It may be beneficial to get behind them, and hope for success. Give@slipmat a kiss night night x
You won't ignore me yet you specifically want me to let you know when I post so you can ignore me and you've the audacity to say I change my view? [emoji38]
It's a football forum, I'm not sure if you're used to the setup? If team do bad - I'll say what's annoyed me. If team do good - i'll give the due praise. My opinions change according to you and yet in your first post you're having a go that I don't like the management team as if I slate them all the time. Would you care to make your mind up about what it is you don't like about my posting before your next random pop?0 -
And you're funny too. How old is that fucking joke.
Hiya AJ! Hiya pal!0 -
I won't ignore you. And you don't upset me. But you're up, you're down, you're black you're white, you love. you hate. You post a lot, and like most amateur and paid pundits.your knowledge, opinions and expertise changes as much as you piss. I look forward to next season and Queens being successful under the current management, or if circumstances dictate different management. That's football.
If I upset you so much put me on ignore. I don't hate the management team. I've already said elsewhere they deserved an extension after somehow keeping us up this year. But given we were awful more often than not this season I still think a 2 year deal is a ridiculous piece of business. Feel free to present your argument of why it isn't. Or just come out with another slavering attack if it makes you feel better.0 -
You really hate the management team, don't you? Please let me know when your vitriol will start during the close season, so I can swerve the negativity before it becomes shall I say nauseating.
Commentary team have been great this season but I'm close to turning off here. The love-in for AJ is nauseating.0 -
When we're we 3 nil down to Alloa, and ended up 3 all. 2 years ago? I'm no statto though. You're the man for that.Think it was at home to Falkirk in April 2016 when it finished 2-2.0 -
That's a fair point. I'm wondering if that makes Johnston a good manager, as he thinks the same or a bad one for signing him in the first place?I'm not knocking him. It's just wrong to say with confidence he's a goalscorer at this level regardless of how much time he's had.0 -
Based on how many minutes in the pitch, exactly? I think you may be knocking the guy, alas.Goss a goalscorer? I'm not knocking the guy but I think that's a stretch at this stage.0 -
Like when Johnston replaced MacPherson...Scotland were a disorganised and disinterested rabble under Alex McLeish. Under Steve Clark they are now a well drilled unit, playing for each other, in a system that gets the best out of them, and where each player knows what their job is.
The players are still mostly mediocre, but it shows the importance of good management and coaching.
Or you could draw on the literally thousands of other examples where replacing a shit manager with a good one has brought an upturn in fortunes.0 -
You missed out doonhammers and tories, and possibly tractor. Not sure how this camera business is going to go. Hopefully works well to see us beat the idiots from the borders4 -
This page is turning into an echo chamber. Same entries posted cyclically, in typical knicker wetting fashion. On budgets Ayr have a similar budget to us but have a far better squad that will challenge for the Top 4 how are we that far behind Ayr .
We will again struggle to stay in the League
Ayr have attracted decent signing with the offer of 2 year deals why have we again got the whole squad out of contract again come May .
My take on league campaign is that after 2 games we are far easier on the eye than any of the previous 3 seasons. Fitzpatrick and Shields both direct, but perhaps lack some finesse and awareness. This will come. The 2 Centre backs are solid, in my opinion, and a threat at the other end. Maxwell is excellent going forward and nortey seems very accomplished going forward also. Both perhaps lack defensive instinct at this stage. Dobbie and East I think will develop a good partnership. My biggest concern in short term is our lack of ability in controlling midfield. I've watched 3 matches and we are lightweight here. Obeleye and buchanan would be more comfortable with a holding midfielder in front of them.
It seems to me that they try to play ball from the back, and occasionally go long, but not nearly as horrific as the recent past.
Whilst I agree that not to have won in 2020 seems untenable, this team is relatively new, and I think patience may pay off.
From what I have read I am no doubt in the minority, but I remain positive. It might be helpful if others did too.2 -
I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on crosses and our ability to defend them?I've been impressed with our new defenders tbh. I don't think they've done too much wrong. Even the crosses/corners haven't been entirely their fault, the goals on Saturday were midfielders failing to track (and Maxwell as well tbf). Our weakness at defending set pieces is down to the whole team.2 -
Well, that's just you I suppose. Friendly.

Apathy. Maybe that says more about me. The only time I felt rivalry was to the fore was when competing with another team for promotion. Dunfermline in the 80's, Alloa, to a lesser extent.
Genuine question: if you didn't have hatred towards Gretna, what were your respective feelings towards them?0 -
Gretna,'s very existence gave us our best experience as supporters, ironically. Tosh, McQuilken, Aitken all came to Queens on the back of Gretna's slow demise, and provided what most fans would say was the best they have seen. My biggest take from being a Queens fan for a good number of years, is that we hate nobody, have no fierce rivals which may be one of the reasons there is a malaise around the whole feeling of the club. Just a thought.

There are a lot of experts on this thread who seem to know everything about the budget the manager has to spend. As well as an inside knowledge of the best players available. I would assume from my knowledgless position that we will have a squad in place before competitive season starts and we will win some, draw some and lose some. Bring it on, so we can put all this close season bilge back to bed.

Carmichael isn't a winger. In his pomp he played a free role so this relentless whinging about him being on wrong wing is misplaced.

Final nail, hopefully

What's that supposed to mean?
It's used to specify something mentioned previously.0 -
When will this form of message board torture end? Don't view QueensMAD board anymore, but does he carry on like this on there?

We benefited from their demise, though. McFarlane, Tosh and McQuilken. One wonders if they'd come to Palmerston if Gretna as a league entity had ever existed. I suspect not. And then one wonders if we'd have had that great cup run in 2008. All hail Gretna, I say, and their demise. Good luck to Gretna 2008.

I assume that response is for parkgateqos and not Tam?[emoji38]
Correct. A timing issue I can only put down to the tinterweb.0 -

Without getting bogged down in original either/ or question. Happily take 3 points, QF victory, followed by 3 further points. Reality may be different, of course , but let's follow managers mantra of the fabled one game at a time.

Should the manager's position become available, I would throw Shelley Kerr's hat in the ring, with Andy Thomson as assistant. Then lazy journalists can have QUEEN OF THE SOUTH, as their headline ad nauseum.
