It’s a bit dull, but we know what we’ll get from him in that position. Which is more than we’d get from Alston or Lyon. So I think it’s a perfectly fine signing. Dull, but fine.

With that lineup I think the ten goal swing could be in play.
I’m basing that almost entirely on Ross Stewart.

Assume still no update on Rob Roy’s ground situation?
At least we’re approaching another election season where politicians can hold a banner and pretend they care for five minutes to get some votes. Not that it will make any difference as soon as the polls close…

Don’t want to trawl through multiple pages since I last read an update - any new news on where you’re looking for a stadium?

Lovely headed assist from McBeth.

Hmm, could (still) really use a winger and a solid holding midfielder.
On the former, wouldn’t be surprised if Dom Thomas would be keen to join us - think our style of play would suit him - but (rightly) can’t see us paying a fee.
On latter, can’t even think of anyone who fits the bill and is available / realistic.
Would prefer no additions to wasting money on additions that never get a game.

How does relegation from WoS Prem work if Clydebank (say) got promoted and Gretna got relegated to SOS? How does the league fill the space - less relegation or more promotion?

Utter woke pish
Worst thread ever.
This thread is like opening a pack of fruit pastels and only getting green and yellow.
Such a weirdo - if you don’t like it just leave it and don’t comment.
In the meantime the rest of us can be happy that a Thislte team played good football, pumped Hibs and got to a cup final.

Great result for the ladies - and they played really well, especially in the conditions. Two good goals, but some really good play (and grit) throughout.
Its poor regardless that they ever thought to make it a Saturday - making fans of both clubs choose between following men’s or women’s teams. Having women’s on Sunday helps grow the game - the final should always have been a Sunday, and for the three reasons already mentioned I hope it’s moved.

I actually think a model where we use Petershill for ladies / reserves / youths, and Firhill for men and occasional high profile games from the former, would work well.
the main gap is therefore training facilities - do we still use Garscube? From photos / videos we appear to be all over the place for facilities.

Potentially daft question, but why were Clyde wearing their away kit last night - especially when it’s red which meant Aberdeen also had to wear their away kit?

I doubt it's the Hockey Centre you'll be getting, it feels far more likely that Scottish Hockey and local Clubs like Kelburne will receive sportscotland funding to re-open it.
Plus the optics of it would be awful with it being the 2014 Commies venue - especially since Scotland are rumoured to take on the Games again.
What seems more likely is that you'll get a plot of land from the football centre next door.Think that would be a good solution all round.
“local clubs like Kelburne” though? Paisley c***s that have focussed on their playing squad for years and so still don’t have a suitable pitch anywhere near home and need to share Glasgow Green? Plenty of football analogies there…

I’ll not hear a bad word about Sean Welsh. Lovely footballer. But yes, it’s a shame he’s made of chocolate.

I can see him leaving QP - he’s looked a bit pissed off in telly games recently and might not like being part of a “project” / feel he can do better than a relegation struggle. But I can’t see us beating DU to his signature unless there are non-financial reasons at play, eg location, likelihood of playing time etc. And nor should we - either on fee (shouldn’t pay one) or wages (shouldn’t push boat out beyond what we would do for any other player) - but he’s good, and would fit our style / system well.

And Milne is playing every week, unlike the other two. Can’t imagine he would be unhappy.

I expect this allows Mitchell to leave with Stewart brought in on a lower wage - given he’s been without a club for so long. So Sneddon remains #1, we have a respectable backup option, and we free up a bit of budget?

I think Andy Halliday would be pretty much perfect for what we need and are realistically able to get in this window - a game-smart dirty b*****d that has people to run off him. Would be pleased with him on either a 6 or 18m deal.

For those of us not there, what did Sneddon do?

Saying you “flew too close to the sun” implies that this season problems stem from last seasons relative success. Which they don’t - they seem to stem from yet more shambolic decision making by the leadership of your club - choice of manager, player recruitment, and ultimately “the project”. An arrogant belief that a player development project can also be competitive at the top end of the Championship. And that’s ignoring all the off field stuff.
Not having a go, and I empathise, but the way you posted almost suggested you were giving them an out.

Interesting indeed. Can’t imagine he’ll be ready to walk into the team - low cost punt, loan him out for 6months in League 1 and see if he can cut it next season?

We can’t defend crosses, we can’t tackle in central midfield, and we can’t string two passes together. Not sure how this is still only 1-0.

Hockeys a stupid game. In my day if you didn’t play football there was something wrong with you.
I played football too - was just a bit shit at it, so I found other things I was better at. Maybe there’s a lesson there for you…

Bit surprised the hockey centre would be potentially up for grabs given the development there and from what you're saying the level of usage, but that's the reality. Out of interest, you say it was fully booked up until COVID. Is that not the case now, and if not is there a reason for that, or is it GCC who just decided not to re-open it ?
I stopped playing about a year before Covid (kids) but at that time on a Saturday pitch 1 was booked 9-5 (schools then league matches) and pitch 2 from about 12-5 (league). Sunday was less busy but still both pitches in use 1-4, with pitch 1 used a bit outside that. It was booked 6-9 every evening for club training. Scottish schools played on it, and all Scotland games. Four clubs played their home matches there - men and women, two for full club and two for 1st XI as pitch was National League Div 1 compliant. St Aloysius used it too - during week and Saturday morning for school matches.
Not sure it could have been used much more, and that was in spite of facility being badly run - mainly the refusal to do anything decent with the bar area which otherwise would have been full after matches for match teas, pints while watching other matches etc. Which was the model they originally wanted to create (works at most European clubs)
Since Covid they’ve not reopened it so you need to change at the five a side pitches - including the girls / kids. I imagine that put some people off. The cynic in me thinks they may have deliberately tried to reduce usage over time to make the final closure decision easier.

I hope you get sorted, but as an ex-hockey player who played at GG for a number of seasons it would be the piss cherry on the shite pie of Glasgow Life’s management of the national fucking hockey stadium if they transfer it to a football team. It’s a great facility, shambolically managed because they clearly give no fucks about the third biggest participation sport in the country - a facility that was fully booked every weekend up until Covid.
