  1. Mind get well wrapped up. We went there November about 7 years ago to see them play Swampy's team, Duisburg. It was feckin freezing. Baltic by name and Baltic by nature. Its a great city though, and we'd love to go back later in the season. From our own experience, April is the best month, as we've always been in shorts n t- shirts every time we've went then. I managed to get to know one of the blokes in the ticket office on our visit and he helped us secure tickets for the world cup the following year.

Our best bet for German tickets over the years has been to actually phone the club up in person. You'd be amazed at the amount of people within the clubs who can speak perfect English. If you've got skype on your computer, it'll cost penny's for quite a long call. Well worth it.

The guys in the Hamburg office have been brilliant, emailing back and forward a couple of different folk then eventually phoned them and he spoke perfect English and was very helpful, even understanding a couple of my shite jokes.

  2. The consensus appears to be the Hamburg - Bayern Munich game on the weekend of 2-4 November. Now, to obtain a ticket we require to take a travel package from them which consists of guaranteed match ticket in second best zone, one night in a hotel (checked it's about 135 euros per night in one of their linked hotels), guided tour of the stadium, free entry into museum and 17 euros to spend in the club shop for 189 euros. We're planning on staying another two nights and that would cost 50 euros extra per night with them. 289 euros before we book a flight which is looking like £160ish from Newcastle. Checked a few hostels and cheaper hotels, can get private rooms for a group for less than 20 euros a night so we'll probably do that.

Anyone have any experience of getting a ticket over there? I understand the profile of the opposition is making this more difficult for us to do this on the cheap.

  3. Took us about 45minutes from Brandenburg Gate to the ground via the U Bahn.

The searches at the turnstiles are a nuisance especially if you have various cans of lager hidden as my mate did. He even had a can under his Russian style fur hat.

I thought you could buy beer within the stadium...

  4. You said October. Do Munich and squeeze in an Oktoberfest trip while you're at it. Be very early in the month and you'll catch the beer festival. And the legendary erotik messe (google it).

See that's been mentioned about Oktoberfest, I was definitely up for that. The beer festival is at the start of the month? May aswell do as much as possible. Erotik Messe - a sex fair. I like sex and I like going to the fair, I think I'll like this.

Obviously waiting for fixtures to come out before booking anything to make sure we catch a game.

  5. Aren't the two Berlin teams utterly shite though? I mean, if you wanted shite football but a city piss-up in Europe, you'd be just as well going to Prague.

Presumably the point of going to a German match is to see something at least half-decent.

Fair point about the standard. A few of the boys have been to Barcelona for a game and piss up the last couple of years but fancied a change and Germany was suggested. A good team with a decent stadium will be a main reason for going but obviously a decent city with plenty boozers required too.

  6. Myself and a few mates are looking to travel to Germany to watch a game in October and stay for the weekend. Would like a decent standard of football and a decent place for a booze up aswell. Any recommendations?

Flights to Munich and Berlin seem reasonably cheap as well as accommodation in either city.

I'll get these two jokes out of the way for you. "Oh a h*n wanting to travel to his homeland" and of course "because your team wont be in Europe/will be extinct next year".

  7. I've been looking to read some Oscar Wilde for a while now. After a quick search on Amazon recently it seems there are many 'complete works' and was looking for some advice on what is best to buy.

I didnt want to start a new thread for a trivial matter such as this, thought some of the bookworms would perhaps have a look at my post and be able to point me in the right direction.

  8. I watched "Get Him to the Greek" yesterday. It was a good film. But P Diddy was fucking hilarious, I damn near pished myself laughing at

    .

    Overall I'd give it a 7/10

    And P Diddy a 9/10 laugh.gif .

Some cracking scenes in this film and as I had low expectations, it turned out to be decent. I think if I read your post prior to it I would've been disappointed.

Watched The Other Guys last night.

Pretty good film, not outstandingly hilarious but funny throughout.

    7/10.

Again, some really good funny scenes in this film. Will Ferrell often makes it what it is, same goes with this one. Eva Mendes' filth talk makes it all the more watchable.

  9. Rennies for nervour tension? Now, I'm not a Doctor but.....

If it's just the heartburn Omperazole are good. You need a script for the industrial strenghth one I take, but you can buy a scaled down version at the chemist.

NB: I think you've got two different things going on there.

Nerves can cause indigestion and heartburn.

Does anyone wipe their knob after a piss? I was taking a dump in the cubicle the other day and someone came in for a piss and I am pretty certain they wiped their walloper with bog roll after they had finished. Surely a couple of shakes would suffice.

Perhaps the boy pissed the seat and was giving it a wipe.

  10. Pretty sure that the responsibility for the frequency of direct debits lies with the company taking the money, not the bank. My bank certainly offers me four-weekly direct debits should I wish them.

You may be right about the responsibility but can you not change the date the company debits the money from your account with your bank and cancel them from there?

I have a standing order that transfers money from my current account into my savings account and I was informed by the clerk(?) that this would need to be done monthly, i.e. a set date every month, as they dont or cant do 4 weekly to coincide with the date I am paid. I dont have many direct debits mind you but the standing order is the most substantial of any of my 'outgoings'.

The bank is Nationwide and, to be honest, I haven't read up on policy and have taken this girls word for it really.

  11. Part of my job involves taking payments for people for their Council Tax, Rents and Rates. The amount of people who don't know the difference between "four weeks" and "calendar month" is staggering in this country.

Yes and I find it equally frustrating that I am paid every 4 weeks by my employer, who happen to be the Council, and the bank only being able to set up direct debits on a monthly basis. I'd quite like for everything to be taken out on payday.

  12. We Own The Night.

Eva Mendes and Joaquin Phoenix, plot line didnt look too great but with some big named actors i thought it was worth a watch. I expected a few more twists and turns in this film but they never appeared. Not a bad film but not a great one either.

7/10, same as a previous poster, couple of extra marks for Eva Mendes. The opening scene involving her is rather interesting.

  13. The Godfather Part 2 ( 1974 )

If ever there was a perfect example of perfect epic movie making, this is it. Everything from the way it was shot to the amazing acting was inch perfect. The first was over-rated to the high heavens but this movie is every bit as good as people say it is.

    10/10

    It insists upon itself.
