  1. Just ensure you get as many exam papers as possible in order to get half price drink!

Don't really go to the union as much as i used to, missed having a few pints between lectures, now it's just straight to the library <_<

It's also amusing going out afterward and having to explain why you have a calculator and assortment on pens on you whilst being searched!

I haven't been for a drink in either union outwith exam periods for years now :(

  2. You don't need to pay for membership to either Union nor should you be required to show ID to buy drink; I've never had to.

Need to renew my QMU membership soon actually to become a life time member or something; not that I will ever go back after I graduate

Also Beer Bar after your last exam is one of the best occassions of the year! After last exam last year, on a Saturday, I can remember my first pint in there and then its all totally gone apart from waking up in my aunt and uncle's spare room in a different part of town!

  3. So I only managed 10 minutes of Toronto-Montreal before I fell asleep but what I seen I enjoyed.

The opening ceremony was a bit long and it took forever to read out the Toronto team and then the old greats.

The match though was as frentic and fast as I had expected which was good. The fight surprised me, I expected this to happen very infrequently and after a big hit or something, instead it just seemed like the two decided 'f**k it, lets just fight'.

My only problem was keeping track of the puck after shots or when it was at the camera side boards but I think I will make an effort to watch a full game when the next is on.

PS: Who won btw? I was wanting Montreal to win just because the opening ceremony annoyed me so much

  4. Planning to watch my first NHL game on ESPN on Thursday with Montreal at Toronto which I believe is quite the rivalry!

I bought NHL 09 for the PS3 recently and have absolutely loved playing it and getting to know the sport so looking forward to watching it live

I found the rules simple to pick up on the game so hopefully I should be able to understand the jist of what is going on

  5. I'm hoping to get to Inter - Juve in April next year. It's the other half's birthday, so she'll be treated to a trip to Milan. Happy coincidence, this game is. Anyone been to similar games know how to go about getting tickets? Their website seems to suggest they're not selling anything of any description just now. Any help hugely appreciated.

Because I've no life, I've seen games at Inverurie, Banks o Dee, East End, Montrose and Cologne so far this season. Only seen my own team once :(

I went to Milan v Inter a few years ago and was able to order online and collect at San Siro on the day easily enough. This was for Milan's home game though so Inter may be different.

It will be a cracking gamewith a wonderful atmosphere and I'm well jealous.

I'm hoping to see Bayern Munich at the Allianz sometime in February.

  6. So who is Gavin Rushford then, and where is he now?

Played for us and made his SPL debut aged 15 or something

He was then caught doing something naughty and was sacked before I think signing for QP where it didn't happen for him; don't think he has been seen since

  7. City of God

Had the DVD for ages now but for some reasong never got round to watching it till last night

Really enjoyed it, the characters were all very well written and performed and the backdrop of the Rio favela was excellent. Also loved the way it was shot and the pace was perfect.

It managed to live up to the high expectations which I didn't expect and certainly deserves the 9/10 only losing a mark because you feel a lot of the dialogue is lost in the translations; would loved to have been able to understand Portuguese whilst watching!

  8. This series has been pretty boring, they really need to freshen it up again as its got pretty stale. Its the same old thing ever week, either they have a race which were brilliant at first, but now, not so much, they wind up james which is obviously scripted, its just getting tedious. Last night the thing with the cool wall and hammond on the lifter you could see coming a mile away, when the laughs are expected, you cease to laugh at them anymore.

Ive found myself watching some of it and then wondering whether to watch the else or switch off.

I thought this series was pretty poor as well actually; no really funny or exciting episodes.

I quite liked the guests they had but other than that it seemed a bit tired.

  9. Stay Alive

Absolutely dreadful film with Frankie Muniz and some guy in Saving Private Ryan. Its about a computer game which kills the person playing the game in the way they died in the game. I truly is awful though

Saw The Van last night as well, the Roddy Doyle one, which is a good film

    Stay Alive - 1/10

    The Van - 7/10
