  1. I forgot about Gus MacPherson. Is there a chance that if, and it’s a big big if, we sack Davidson then we could end up with Gus MacPherson managing us. In normal circumstances I’d be petrified of that thought but surely anything is better than what we have right now.

I’m not going back to another game until Davidson is gone.

    Gus MacPherson’s blue & white army…

  2. Think I must have been sat behind Callum Davidson’s mother / wife as they seemed to be very angry every time I got frustrated at how shite the team was. Which was a lot.

I don’t think we had any shots on target at home to a terrible Ross County side. Absolutely brutal. The players we have aren’t that bad but the way they are being set up is so depressing.

Ideally I won’t be back until he’s gone but no doubt will be at tannadice 🙆🏻‍♂️

Breakdown of our league results under Davidson.

Only scored more than once in 12/76 games.

How do you think the board / his boss assesses his performance? It must be at the stage where he just brings in a picture of him holding the 2 cups and points at it.

Everything else is just utterly depressing reading. Lack of points, lack of goals, lack of shots on target, ridiculous turnover in playing staff, regularly booed off the pitch now. How much longer does this go on?

Not that anyone cares but I'm one of the ones who didn't renew, I don't expect us to win every week but I was naively hoping we might occasionally set up to try and score goals and maybe even win the odd game, but it's simply the most soul destroying set of games I've ever sat through, I was genuinely coming away from games absolutely miserable.

Can't imagine I'm alone in that

I also haven’t renewed yet and don’t think I will. Similarly, I know we aren’t going to win every week but I’ve always enjoyed watching Saints on the whole, until last season.

Off the top of my head there were 2 full games in the league (the 2nd Hearts and 2nd Aberdeen fixture) that I  enjoyed watching. The first half against Dundee in the 3-1 and then a couple of isolated moments like Hendry’s goal against Motherwell and the 2 late goals against Inverness. The rest was absolutely hopeless stuff and not worth the 2hr round trip from Edinburgh.

I’m very anti-Davidson and struggling to find any motivation or excitement for this season. And there’s not really been anything from the club to generate any excitement either. It’s like they’re all just going through the motions and are happy enough to be there and plenty folk are happy enough with that. We won a fucking cup double and it has just completely passed us by - there were a couple of photo ops here and there, they maybe had them out on the pitch once or twice early in the season but it just feels like nobody really gives much of a f**k about trying to push St Johnstone above the “wee team that’s just happy to be there” mindset.

Maybe I’m being overly harsh and hopefully some excitement will come back if we manage to make a couple of decent signings etc. No doubt I’ll still pick and choose to attend plenty of games next season but it’s hard to imagine right now.

I know we've said it all before but Saints PR is absolutely fucking terrible. The eve of the start of the new season and the club have managed to create a fog of negativity around McDiarmid Park that only we could manage.  No promotional tweets, hardly any videos on social media, no creativity and no buzz.

I'm fairly sure even if we managed to sign bloody Stevie May and big Danzell it would appear on the footnote of an article about Liam Craig getting injured or something.

Maybe I'm being harsh but they make absolutely no effort to get the fans interested.

Couldn’t agree more. The club do not have a clue when it comes to this. Ross Cunningham laid some really good foundations but those who followed him in the role have undone all his good work.

Look at what Motherwell do. The difference it can make having someone who knows what they’re doing is huge.

  6. There is one main reason that our crowds are suffering - the club has done absolutely nothing to try and get people to come. The family deal is arguably the best deal in Scottish football, yet what do they do to try and sell it to people that aren’t looking for it? You walk around Perth and see no mention of St Johnstone.

What are the club doing to engage with schools? What about the college / uni thing which is literally 2 mins along the road? What about any of the towns and villages north or Perth?

Ross’ replacement seems to be an imposter as there’s been zero original or exciting content since he started. We’ve had some shoutouts to sponsors on twitter, a really shite #decadeofachievement thing (can’t really call it a marketing campaign or anything as it was really bad), a magazine (which would have been a shit idea 10/15 years ago) and nothing more than the usual post match interviews and a few ill-informed articles. Does this guy actually have any ideas? What is his marketing background? Is his creative freedom being restricted (I doubt this since Ross was so innovative).

Engagement on social media is huge, we have 27k people “Like” the club on Facebook. 33k followers on Twitter. 7k followers on Instagram. What are we doing to entice these people to engage with the club? f**k all. Our social media game is boring and predictable. In Tony Watt we have a guy who is very active on social media and interacts with fans of our club, other clubs, players etc. Surely there’s plenty of things we can be doing there!

The people who run the club have got completely complacent and it seems there’s nobody with any fresh or positive ideas since Ross left. The cost of getting one or two people in who can run marketing campaigns, create exciting online content, increase engagement must be minuscule in comparison to the playing budget.

Bit of a rant here but f**k me it’s infuriating to see the amount of missed opportunity by our club and the blame lying with lapsed fans or apathy of people from Perth when there’s f**k all being done by St Johnstone. (Out with our exciting new magazine!)

  7. I think Kane was unlucky last season with the injury that kept him out of the last few games. He came back from Dumfries a completely different player and finally looked to be getting to the level that I think a lot of us had hoped he was capable of. He’s definitely not a natural finisher but his hard work and more physical style was getting him in some good positions.  Based on the 2nd half of last season I’d have been happy going into this season with him as 2nd choice.

He’s now fallen behind Watt and McMillan, with Hendrie keen to play his way into the first team rather than a loan it leaves you wondering how much game time Kane will see this season.

  8. I've sat and watched the majority of Arrested Development series 1, all day.

Oh my god, we're having a fire... Sale.

Arrested development is by far the best comedy series I've seen. Curb your enthusiasm comes close actually, but they are both miles ahead of anything else.

  9. Right

Going for a call centre job with Brittish Gas next week. Need some advice.

Should I be honest with them at this stage that I failed a probationary period in my last employment (anyone that reads the depression thread will know the sob story).

I am thinking I could possibly cover it up by only giving them the companys HR office for a reference (surely they would only confirm employment dates). Should I try this and hope for the best or be honest that my last job ended badly.

Say it just didn't suit both parties and you mutually agreed it would be best to start afresh elsewhere. That way you are being honest (ish) and are covered if they get in touch. I doubt they will even ask for a reference, I recently got a job with a large insurance company and they didn't ask my previous employers for a reference.

  10. Class tv. not sure how I feel about the ending but really hope there's a second season

There will be a second season however it will have a different cast and story but follow the same genre. There's talk of having female leads this time, although there's been nothing concrete yet.

More and more huge actors are realising that TV is a viable option now (McConaughey, Harrelson, Spacey, the guy in boardwalk empire who's name completely escapes me) so hopefully the next season can pull in an equally strong cast. Personally I would like to see Sam Rockwell in it, think he's pretty underrated as an actor.

Really enjoyed the series, the highlight obviously being that end scene in episode 4. Epic TV. The last episode was pretty tense. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.
