Seeing a team like Sweden make the QF of this World Cup gives me hope. They don’t have particularly good players, but know their job and do it very well. That is the template we need to follow.

A lot of Falkirk supporters coming across as absolute arseholes on this thread (and others). It is embarrassing to read.

All you old kents are boering
Agreed. But we got to see Simon Stainrod play for Falkirk. You will never see his like in a Falkirk strip again. Never.0 -

One of my favourite games was in the 91/92 season when we beat Celtic 4-3 I think Liam Brady, who I'm distantly related to his brother is married to my mum's cousin or something, was their manager at the time Peter Grant snr scored an og and Simon scored with a diving header Paul Mcstay scored a belter from about 20 yards too. It was the first time I"d seen us play Celtic and the result gave me unrealistic expectations.
Was that the same season that Celtic also beat us 5-4 at Brockville when we were 4-2 up? Liam Brady was the manager then I remember that much, and John Collins scored their winner. There were Celtic fans sitting on benches behind the goal in the away end. The atmosphere at that game was unbelievable. I was absolutely gutted at the end of that one.

I'll meet you before the next one. Platform 1 Grahamston.
It was surreal last time I was in Falkirk and went to the station and Brockville was a supermarket. That's how long ago it has been since my last Falkirk home game.0 -
I haven't been to a Falkirk game for 20 years, but reading the last few pages of this thread suggests the fans haven't changed a bit.

Do you still get Wham bars in Scotland?

I'm not a huge Andy Murray fan, but this is an outrageous achievement. Anyone rubbishing this needs to understand that he is now the no.1 ranked player in the world. No.1. Not 35676 like most Brits\Scots.

Not if Long's touch to beat Hanley was so far in front of him that he'll never get to it before Marshall even if Hanley doesn't bring him down. It's not a goal scoring opportunity if Long was never going to have control of the ball after his initial touch.
Got to admit whe I saw the replay I thought he was lucky not to see red.

Ireland were shite, no denying that, but should've been a different game if Hanley got sent off early on like should've done. Even with Ireland being as shite as can be, Scotland didnae create anything & draw would've been fair if that stoppage time own goal goes in. Literally nae idea why Keano wasnae picked, lacked any kinda movement or spark up top without him.
I would say look forward to the return game but its no till June. Belting.
You were watching a different game from me if you think Scotland didn't create anything.

First time I've seen him play and I was really impressed. I didn't realize he was so attack minded. Everyone talks about Seamus Coleman (who to be fair is also very good) but he was overshadowed by Robertson today.

Despicable Me 2. Eldest son chose it as a reward so the whole family went along and all of us thought it was great. Very funny movie. I find animated movies much funnier than real movies nowadays.

Our kids had a great time. They are the perfect age (7, 4 and 2). I loved it when my eldest came up to me at about 2.00 and told me that this was a great day that was about to get better with dad's christmas dinner!

I'd like some advice on buying a bike.
I haven't owned one for a while. My last one (a Raleigh Grifter which was great) had three gears, so I'd be looking for at least 3 gears. None of this pissing about with levers, a 5 gear bike where you could change gears up near the handlebars would be awesome.
It also has to be sturdy. I dont want to be pulling a wheelie and have the front wheel fall of - I've had that ball-buster happen before.

Thanks for the response Gaz. Maybe not a bad thing that my memories are from a golden era!
One other thing I've picked up on when reading through threads (this site is a godsend for those of us living in a different country) is the small away supports. We used to take 2000+ to most away games when I followed Falkirk - it seems that is almost unheard of now.

I have a question for the older Falkirk fans amongst you. I haven't been to a Falkirk game since the early 90s, and was intrigued to know how the standard of the first division compares now to then (think of the Stainrod/jeffries era as my reference point).

My son is 2 year old n 1 month n still hardly speaks. Keep getting told once he talks you wont get hin to stop but still kids at his age i know of are speaking very well.
My middle son spoke ridiculously well at 1.5 years old (more fluently than some 4 year olds). He is now 4, has a stutter and is probably less fluent in his speech than he was two years ago. Don't compare your kid to others - he'll get there in his own time.

Scottish left back is a disaster. Constantly out of position.
