  1. I understand contract law just fine thanks. Okay - let's just keep this factual then.
The enforceability of a pre-contract will depend on the specific terms of the agreement. Pre-contracts are generally not binding under English law as they are usually marked ‘Subject to Contract’ and are simply a commitment by the parties to enter into a later contract. The difference between a pre-contract and a contract is that the parties to the pre-contract have not agreed the essential terms and so the pre-contract does not reflect the final agreement. However, if a pre-contract contains all the essential terms that have been agreed, then the pre-contract is effectively a final contract and is likely to be binding.
To sum up - only if the Pre-Contact is effectively a Contract with all the terms and considerations agreed with just the inception date deferred then, just like other contracts, is is enforceable.
If it is just a commitment to contract it's not.

Are they binding under Scottish law?
  2. If he had taken the gig last time around we might not be in the mess we are now.  Ellis seems to be a decent coach and tactician who interacts well with the players; that’s exactly what we need at present.
I can understand concerns over lack of experience but we’ve had experienced managers too with poor results.

One of if not our best player thinks Ellis is a dick.

  3. Am I right in thinking that our four signings so far are Stuart Murdoch, two guys who will not be fit to start the season and a LB who only got a game towards the end of the season because a CH/CM/RB who was ahead of him had to be deployed elsewhere?
Mike Martin should change his name to Aldous Huxley.

Think Fyvie will be fit for the start of the season.
  4. I'd expect United's decision to charge full price for the 2nd attempt at playing a game at Tannadice after the first match was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch wasn't something that endeared the Arabs to the Rangers fans.
I think we charged half price for the game and that was including home fans so you actually paid for a game and a half
