  1. I'm sure that there was a case in the dim and distant where a team went under (or were expelled) and the replacement team took on their results and record for that season.

Found it - season 1897-98. Renton chucked it 4 games into the season and Hamilton took over their "lot" for the rest of the season.

Back when things were done between Gentlemen on a handshake!!!!!

Can you imagine that happening today?? The legal shit storm that it would create!!!!!

  2. OK, I can get my head round that - but the same question to you as to celticfootballclub.org... IF Charles Green overcomes the obstacles in his way, and his team takes to the field at Brechin... what will the match programmes say, what will the newspapers print the result as, what will Jeff Stelling and Soccer Saturday read out the result as being?

If it's as per the ticket that I posted, it'll most likely be Rangers. Doesn't make it right or correct though.

  3. Are you lot still banging on about this pish?

Sevco bought the business. That includes the assets, the brand, any intellectual property, the goodwill etc. There are no issues about trading as Rangers, using the crest etc. because they own all these things. Similarly there is no problem with them using the trading name of company which is about to be liquidated because these circumstances (buying all the assets or substantially all the assets of a business from an administrator with the intention of continuing to trade as that business) are exempt from the general prohibition on the re-use of company names/trading names.

This story generates enough genuine intrigue without flogging this particular rotting carcass for more cheap thrills.

So why are Sevco called Sevco and not Rangers Football Club?????

  4. Brechin likely used that name and badge due to Sevco not giving out the new ones?

But as a copyrighted image and a trademarked name, prior permission would need to have been saught from the owners, Duff & Phelps??

Or have they been a bit naughty and not got permission????

Costly re-printing of the tickets or a large 'donation' to Oldco - Rangers Football Club in the offing methinks.

Might be additional costs for Ramsdens as well, as sponsors of event???

So much for all the benefits of having them in the SFL,

Brechin won't be getting any for this.

  5. They would all lose different numbers of points though.

    Celtic (31)

    Motherwell (21)

    Dundee Utd (20)

    Hearts (17)*

    St Johnstone (17)

    Killie (16)

    St Mirren (14)*

    Aberdeen (14)

    Inverness (13)

    Hibs (11)

    Ross County (10)

    Dundee (10)

*assuming that totals are rounded down for X.3333.

    So :ph34r::ph34r:

Even if Celtic were the only team to do this this season, going on last seasons points totals and deductions(see above), they'd still have won the league, or be on the same points as Motherwell but no doubt would have had the better Goal Difference or the better results against 'well.

  6. Loads of 'Rangers' fans wanting Uefa/Fifa to get involved!!!!!

Maybe they should watch what they wish for???

UEFA will want to give them a good doing for the sullying one of UEFA's 'Jewels in the crown' @

    .

FIFA will want to give the SFA a good doing if they don't give Rangers/Sevco a good doing after the SFA sided with the FA over Blatters election.

  7. Sure it's been mentioned before that the criteria for entry are guidelines rather than unbreakable rules.

It's crazy to suggest that SFL3 chairmen would rather have a Spartans or a Cove in the league if they could have Rangers

Do/can they satisfy any of the guidelines then??????

Is it really that attractive to have the Sevco hoardes descending on SFL3 grounds, no doubt incurring increased costs through being all ticket and increased police bills? For only one season.

How much will they really make 'on the day'?
