think we will start seeing some rotation against Stenhousemuir can see us resting some players like Watret, Reading, Dowds etc personally i think we might end up lining up like this

Bench: Russell, Devlin, Reading, Tomlinson, Murdoch, Henderson, Murphy, Dowds, McKenzie

Doubt we’ll see much if any rotation tomorrow tbh (with the exception of Rus) as to progress we’re probably looking at two rather substantial victories.

Failure to win tomorrow night and I’d think we’d see changes for the Buckie game as we’d be pretty much out.

There's no bitterness against Devlin on my part. Disappointment, yes. I was delighted when we signed him and he looked like a rolls Royce in the first couple of months where we picked up 10 points in a tough run of fixtures. Then he got injured and our season fell apart. I felt sure we'd settle once he returned from injury but he came back as if he'd aged 20 years. Perhaps the added responsibility of the captaincy put too much pressure on him or maybe it was a confidence issue, he was never close to being the same player. Thoroughly nice guy to talk to. Story is he was offered a deal with us but claimed he felt he was better than a championship player....that turned out well

So he’s that bad that he was offered a contract with yourselves?

The manager has built half this squad just by being Scott Brown.

When Scott Brown knocks, it’s a different type of knock.

Still feel like we need a defensive midfielder, would imagine loan market will be the only place you'll find one of them now.

Bosun Lawal come on down, we'll sort you out with a nice flat down Ayr Beach to sweeten the deal

Given Lawal was a standout at League 1 in England last season means it would genuinely mental if he ends up at Ayr. Surely the English Championship or at worst a top end Scottish Premiership club would be the natural step.

Going by Rodger’s comments a few days ago it does certainly sound like will go out on loan somewhere though.

He wanted us to play 3 at the back and we ended up being quite sparse there due to injuries. Didn’t really have much of a choice. He was also made captain when he signed so there was an expectation that he would play if available. As I say, it looked like it was going to work to start to start off with, despite warnings from Aberdeen fans that he was done physically. It did not end well.

    Temper your expectations.

Where’s the fun in that? We’re winning the lot.

do wonder if thats Hamilton out the door or maybe still the potential of signing both?

Can’t see us signing Hamilton now as we’ve got Musonda/Stanger/McMann/Devlin and at a push McAllister to cover centre back. Think we’ll possibly see a centre mid come in and that will be our lot. That would take our squad up to 28 and we can obviously only have 20 in a match day squad so think we’ll see a few go out on loan

I mind their fans wanted to scrap with a bus full of pensioners and children after a boring 1-1 draw up there a few years ago and one of their fans kept shouting "ahve goat nuffin tae lose" over and over.  Very funny.

There was a video of that doing the rounds but I can’t find it.

Utd on Saturday, what we thinking folks? Did anyone catch their game against Stenny? I didn't think much of them, watching their game against Falkirk. I can see a 1-1 stale all the way through to pens!?

If we get a draw even if we lose on pens you’d fancy us to go on and win the group as we should be beating Stenny and Buckie.

  7. I feel Falkirk got a bit of a reality check last night. While going a whole league season unbeaten you have to caveat it with the fact they were playing Plumbers, Joiners and guys that punt Herbalife on the side most weekends. If they want to establish them selves as a championship club again they will need to improve.

As far us we weren’t brilliant but were really solid against a gutsy Falkirk side. We’ve made 9 new signings over the summer with a couple more rumoured and they’ll take time to gel however the signs are positive.

Falkirk were quite impressive and deserved to win that. Obviously they are a settled team and look more organised than us. Early days yet and squads can change dramatically with a few quality additions.

I hate the “deserved to win” patter. They didn’t deserve to win, were they the better team throughout the 90 minutes? Quite possibly but they failed to score and we did score so they deserved nothing.

Not quite getting the negativity - created plenty in first half and look good on the ball.  Rus is a player, and Watret for McAllister / McMann for McGinty and Oakley for whoever was playing as the 2nd striker behind the one up front last season all massive upgrades.

Centre halves defended against a lot of crosses well - I was also actually really impressed with Falkirk - they play at some tempo and get bodies forward.

We are obviously still a bit light squad quality wise, although if we could have had for example Murphy instead of Bryden and Dempsey avaliable so McKenzie didn't have to play CM in 2nd half it would have been better - really hope we can bring one or 2 players in who will be improvements to the XI rather than the squad.   Was nice to see the last 2 or 3 mins pretty much all played in their corner too.

Rode our luck a bit although strangely more in the first half which we played better in.  2nd half we seemed to be under more pressure and didn't attack much but didn't really have any massive let offs that I can think of.

No idea how it finished 1-0 BTW.  3-3 could very easily have happened.

Massive win group wise though, means the last 2 games almost certainly mean something even if we lose on Saturday

Aye I came on here expecting everyone to be fairly positive. Beat a fellow championship team heavily fancied to at least push for the playoffs. We’re clearly still a couple of bodies short but im delighted with the result. If we take anything from Dundee United then we’ve got to be strong favourites to win the group.

Why would you expect to put 3 or 4 goals past a team that the bookies have finishing above you in the league?

I believe England were favourites for the Euros, must of been some celebrations down south last night:

Mondays always better after they get put in their place, was kinda hoping they losts on pens tho.... always feel that's sweeter! Anyways, on to Falkirk. I've woken up feeling less confident about tomorrow. We owe them a doin but I've got that AUFC fear we're going to get embarrassed and put in our place. A new stand and a pretty decent pre seaon so far, hasn't stopped the fear apparently!

Tomorrow night will be a good test to see where we are. A team newly promoted who are expected to at very least be in the playoff chase.
