The first World Cup I remember well is the 1978 one in Argentina, so yes, I did.

How would that impact on how I define "heroic"?

    Ah that explains it.

I asked that as ive only really experienced this twice before (3 times now) and all else I remember re: qualification groups is failing. So just getting to the groups is like winning the thing in my perception .

    Bit of a stretch.

Heroic at home against Spain. Poor in Norway, but for a crazy couple of minutes.

    Competent elsewhere.

Curious as to what generation you are from. Did you live through 1999-2020?

  3. I cant understand being underwhelmed with qualification. I don't know the average age of a p and b user but I'm 35 and lived through 1999- 2020 where we never qualified for anything. From the age of 10, all the way through my teenage years and 20s (Bar that terrible playoff performance in 2003),  Our biggest achievement was failing on the last day in 2007. This was a sustained failure for what seemed like eternity and qualification became folklore and memories for the older members of the TA - not something for my generation to enjoy. A whole generation of Scottish  people missed out.

To not get excited beyond all comprehension about even taking part in the group stages is something I cannot get my head around and I suspect I wont ever understand such a thing.

Is he the greatest Scotland manager of all time?

yes. to take a national side from having no hope , belief or any semblence of a team who could qualify for anything and hadnt done for 24 years and qualify for the euros, world cup playoffs and then another euros, this time at a canter. He's without a doubt our finest.

He is/was the one we craved during all those years (outside a purple patch under mcleish) . He destroyed "glorious failure"

if he gets us to the 2nd round, its a huge paradigm shift for the scottish national team

  5. honestly could not care less if its a draw or a win for spain tonight. As long as we qualify as soon as possible. Remember in 2009-2019 when it felt like we would never qualify for anything ever again ? Well anything but that is a success to me at this point.

  6. ?! Either you have had one too-many or really need to consider the benefits of to writing in legible sentences.

The reads as a bunch of randomly jumbled together words. However in terms of the squad, going by Clarke’s previous, I don’t see many changes afoot.

Goal there aside, Robertson has been in sparkling form for Scotland for the last 2 campaigns so no idea what this post was even about.

i was probably just reacting to the fact i was shiting it pre kick off as watching scotland for 30 year has made me a cynical b*****d. I didnae half get proved wrong with the assist there.
