  1. In the midst of all the squad news, just thought I'd post the latest news  link re. new strips: https://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4516

Really sorry for this delay, but hope people will understand the situation. Our sponsors have been amazing, but it proved very difficult for Turnberry in the end, due to their commitments and the financial squeeze. We and they tried until the last hour to see if something could be worked out, but in the end it wasn't possible. They are still committed too DFC and we'll see them back in due course, I'm sure. Meantime we're cultivating new sponsors, as well as being massively grateful to existing ones - not least C&G Systems and Signs Express, who've been incredible.

As soon as we can update on sponsor/delivery, we will. Obviously we want this sorted as quickly as possible, like you. Thanks a million to those who have pre-ordered. That really does help!

Never realised that next season is 27 games rather than the normal amount (36 I believe) Here’s the question - will the season ticket cost change to reflect this amount of games or stay around the same price as last season?

I wouldn’t mind paying the same as last season, I know it would mean the cost per game goes up but if it’s another way to give the club money then happy to do so.

The price will be adjusted, of course.  Announcements will be made as soon as possible. (We've mentioned the 27 games in all the web articles on STs, and in various other ones, too.)

The FAQ will be up shortly... just making sure we've got all the main questions covered.

    Cheers!

Dropping that news when I was almost done with the sports pages and ready to clock off on a Friday afternoon wasn't what I was after DFC.

We do try our best for you, but life can't always be perfectly scheduled! ;)

Thanks. No, the numbers didn't start at 1. I paid up a couple of minutes after posting the story on the website. But it has been initial great response. Around 120 last time I heard. We'll update... emoji122.png

I picked up this was happening from pie and Bovril, but I didn't get an email... does anyone know if season ticket holders were mailed?

Yes, an e-mail has gone to all season ticket holders (I double-checked tis morning) - and the pledge has been publicised on the Club website, on Twitter, on Facebook and on Instagram, as well as here.

If there's any problem, please just drop a note to: office@dumbartonfc.co.uk

(Don't forget to check you e-mail spam file first, though!)

Thanks for everyone who's made the pledge so far - incredible response!  We're well on our way. 👏

Did the order numbers start at 001? If they did then I was #202 when I paid for mine at 10 to 1 which is a fantastic effort.

I like the idea. It makes a lot of sense given the unpredictability and gives the fans another target to try and smash. Hopefully we can build on the 300 total and get a really strong number of season tickets sold this year.

Thanks. No, the numbers didn't start at 1. I paid up a couple of minutes after posting the story on the website. But it has been initial great response. Around 120 last time I heard. We'll update... 👏

Should we get email confirmation? I’ve pledged my tenner but not got any email.  Tenner has came out account. Thanks

If you used the link, a confirmation should be automatic. Worth checking your spam file!  Any problem, drop a note to office@dumbartonfc.co.uk

(The response I got, instantly, looks like this.)

  7. Hi all... as you'll see, we've just launched the #SonsSeasonTicketPledge, with 100 days to go before the planned League One re-start. https://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4472

Until now, following questions from fans and our announcement back in May, we'd been holding STs for all existing holders and a few others who'd said they'd buy one when the restart happens. Now we're asking for what is in effect a £10 deposit. That will help the Club with the costs of preparation for 17th October. It's non-refundable, but will be dedicated from the cost of the ticket when the campaign starts.

We obviously can't announce prices yet, but the hope and aim is to keep them in the same price bracket as before.

Note that we can only release 300 tickets to start with, because we have to assume at this stage that if we are playing in front of fans (as we desperately want to), social distancing and health precautions will be required.

The Sons Season Ticket Pledge is in response to all those (huge thank you!) who've said they'd like to help out. But, as before, we don't think it's right to take the full whack off people who are probably struggling with their own bills until everything is tied-up re. the new season.

    Cheers everyone!

Have the club given us a definitive date for the release of the new kits? I would hope we'd be afforded the opportunity to see it with the sponsor prior to placing a pre-order.

On another note good to see Clyde embracing technology in light of current circumstances, with their Digital Season Ticket/Card. Hopefully we can do something similar...

On kits... news coming as soon as possible.

On digital Season Tickets. Noted. It's an idea worth investigating - and the costs involved, of course.

    Thanks. 👍

PS. The first batch of DFC face coverings going like hot cakes (though don't try one of those on yer face. Horribly messy.) More ordered... https://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4458

With Jim being 61 now you have to wonder if he might be thinking of chucking it after his health scare.

We're in touch with Jim, of course, and both he and the club are positive about the future. But health needs to come first. 👍

This has a very long way to go before the lower leagues can even think about returning.

We're already thinking about it (very hard) at DFC, and in conversation with others. You'll hear more about this soon. But you are absolutely right to identify these huge challenges. No-one should pretend that this will be easy or quick... and the difficulty is magnified for smaller clubs. So we remain realistic, but also as positive as we possibly can be...

  11. On restart issues, signings etc (the subject of a number of recent posts). This is what we can say right now. https://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4448. Not as much as you or we would like, but it's where things are and there's no point pretending otherwise.

More on what is going on to prepare for a new season soon, however... Though of course it all depends on what gets decided, something in which we are one voice among a number.

I assume we do but I don't know who it is.

We're in the process of talking to all our sponsors, who need both assurance and encouragement. We might need to restructure some deals, too, in the light of changes and uncertainties brought on by the pandemic.  As you'll appreciate, this is a tough time for many people, but everyone connected to the club is being as supportive as they possibly can. We are grateful to every one of them. Announcements as soon as we are able to do so.

(As a general rider to that -- I absolutely understand that people are impatient for updates on many things. We really are giving those updates when it's possible, bearing in mind commercial and other factors. No one is sitting on information unnecessarily! Meantime, I'm coming here to tell you what I can, or to explain as much as I can.)

We definitely need to buy our strips, the club need our money, and buying cheap replicas elsewhere, regardless how good they are, is pointless when we want to compete at the top of our leagues. Dig deep everyone.

Thanks! Really appreciate that. We know it's financially tough for lots of us right now (not just the Club), so none of this is easy...

I wouldn’t want to see the club do anything daft financially but I think we need to start thinking about getting some of the basics done, mostly getting a manager sorted at the very least.

Don't worry, there's plenty of necessary thinking and talking going on, but what we can say publicly is limited right now.

Also, our manager has made his intention to stay clear - that's been recorded both on the Club website and in the press.

We will be updating on all this shortly...

Might be a question directly for @TheFarPost but does anyone understand the conditions that come with this bundle of money that's just been donated to the SPFL? Originally it was reported that this guy was donating money so that clubs would see themselves through the crisis, but when it was reported the other day I seemed to read a bit which said the clubs can apply for up to £50K in funding but they need to prove community benefit. I'm a bit baffled as to what that means. Can we simply argue that the community of Dumbarton needs DFC and thus we can take the money and spend it on staying alive, or do we need to have some sort of community project on the go that those funds can only be used on?

Sorry for the late reply, Moonster.  The money is for Clubs who can demonstrate community engagement and activity. We're happy to do that. There will be more on the Club website shortly - but we welcome the fund, and we are applying.
