  1. I personally think Oliver is ahead in pecking order of Shanley for striker role in McGlynn's thinking. Yeats performance in midfield may have cemented that if MacIver is out but obviously I hope he is fit. I called it that we would struggle when he went off on Sunday, so important to how we play.
  2. Yep my biggest concern I said at the time in albufeira's biggest Celtic bar that we are fuked without Ross upfront as soon as he went off. You need your best 11 or 10 sometimes 9 to get close to teams higher up especially a team that's head n shoulders above anything in Scotland. I wanted a good performance today, I got that and with a bit of luck we may have got more. #proud
  3. I'm not convinced that Collins has the credentials to do what Murray could have done that's by the by but you have not helped his cause employing him post transfer window closing. Murray's last interview pointed to fitness of the players, 2 games under collins and you've fell apart 2nd half Obviously you have players due back from injury but momentum is a big thing in football, winning becomes a habit...losing too
  4. A transfer windows too Still have the limited loan market but as said way back wild sacking a manager and not getting one in to a least getting some of the open transfer window. Our soccer manager Rennie at least had a little new manager bounce before being utterly clueless.
  5. He always had stinkers against Airdrie home and away. I cant see him playing on Saturday looked very ring rusty on Saturday in his first start of the season and the left back role is Mackie's to lose for now our back line will be our starting back 4 of Adams Donaldson Henderson Mackie unless injuries change that Tait and MacIver will start with Spencer if fit, the rest is anyone guess with injuries and having options of who has the jersey this week. I could see Agyeman and Miller in the wide roles
  6. Common sense says the manager has final say but we had Holt bringing in his son on a 2yr contract and various others that were rumoured that it was his decision. A few top clubs also have the coach aka manager to work with players signed for them See Chelsea
  7. He booked a hip op rather than manage the game today will tell you his feelings on it. I'm obviously not overjoyed at the defeat but mirror thoughts that it's not the league. I've never been one to look out for Stennies results but have this season and chuffed they have started well
  8. A very Donald trump statement I suppose you got your seatbelt on future USA Back on football, I thought it was refreshing Falkirk went after Martin Rennie soccer manager, tho he did make his previous Paul Sheerin look like Alex Ferguson. Football management with the novice managers is very topsy turvy Some ride the storm, some don't...this is where Collins is at. If he starts with a 7-0 win v Pars he will be a legend It's the latter form of Barnsley I'd be concerned with Rookie managers don't have plans b or c I said previously a lot will depend on what he has learned from his Barnsley period, USA not a jot. USA is not football
  9. Still very much Mickey mouse countries call it soccer Where old footballers go for pieces of silver/gold to bow out. Are you telling me woman's soccer isn't bigger than mens ? Soccer will never take off in the countries that use that term, mainly because it's way down the pecking order in popularity with other sports. Though I still like to think it's because they call it soccer firmly with my fishing rod in hand
  10. Your point is ? I await USA having its own world series of soccer with only them competing in it, for all I know they probably already have it Woman's soccer is bigger than men's soccer...... I rest my case
  11. Anywhere that calls football soccer is small time That's the rules Full season in English league 1 ? Some serious heavy defeats in the season he got sacked in for Barnsley. It's a question of learning from that, I can't take soccer experience in the USA as a plus to actual real football.
  12. Are you taking in his time working at the local leisure centre aka USA football leagues as his journey within football management? Docherty started his coaching career at Falkirk, the best part of 20 odd year ago, followed by 15yr as assistant to McInnes The comparisons of Collins and Docherty are pretty stretched albeit every manager appointment is a risk. I can't see any link between one with less than a year in real football management and one with a case study of 20 or so year mainly as an assistant manager
  13. The master plan arrives ! Collins may have been on a short list but no way he was the first choice, Id seriously be worried if he was The reality is he has never really managed as of yet, his time in USA for me isn't worth the paper it's on with the franchise league. The jury must be more than out on someone with less than a year of real football management and a 3yr contract is a bit wild
  14. I thought a manager appointment (if they can get this one over the line) would be made this week. The challenge cup is a free hit that will probably see new man in stands. I'm sure we have appointed a few managers pre challenge cup game
  15. The ref made millions of mistakes according to Imrie. Serious heads gone when he reverts to clown in the pub lingo I don't think the Morton penalty is conclusive either way but the Falkirk one is, refs view is his shirt being tugged albeit soft its a pen. The game was a great advert for the championship, ref wasn't great but he didn't win or lose the game for either team. The game might have been different if Morton scored the similar goal to ours to make it 3-2 but that's football. The invincibles roll into another ground near you soon
  16. Why not throw Ten Haag in the mix too Zero chance of McInnes getting the bullet soon and zero chance of him dropping down to the championship anytime soon also.
  17. Take more fans and you won't be there Old days of Morton pre they Clydebanked the terrace was great. 5-0 Falkirk prediction
  18. I remember back in the day Celtic used to offer the RV tickets cheaper, I take it's not the case now ? I remember being forced into that area one point years ago, it's not too bad but it did involve angling the head where I was whilst at times watching a dodgy tv pic I can't recall having that issue at any other ground I have been in all over the world though
  19. Some tech savvy folk also struggle too I'm sure he got double figures playing the 10 role, don't think he is a lone striker or a striker tbh. I'd like to see at least a loan CH come in, I don't think we will see Lang this year and Donaldson and Henderson will get injured or suspended as the season goes on. We have cover to some degree but don't have cover for the cover. A CF would also be good loan but I'd bet McGlynn would push Oliver forward before Shanley in the event of no MacIver. The problem with loans is a lot of the ones that are highly rated come with a price tag and/or wage that differs if they play. I don't think we can guarantee a loan player that they will play, so we would be looking to loan on basis of play when required which brings a dislike from the loan club. CH still very much my main concern tho
  20. It's a squad game and the team seem to be buying into that. Some of our players could be starters elsewhere but perhaps know they are subs with a point to prove weekly, though I think a few of our players are better subs to improve us and McGlynn does too. Ross probably won't start on Saturday if everyone is fit, he is a superb impact sub with his pace to stretch a game. Shanley does similar in stretching play with pace but if McIver is out we would have Oliver starting in his role 99% of the time, I'm not convinced McGlynn would use Agyeman there as I don't think he's started there for us....that can change though
  21. Football employment world is not just like any other job. Football and other jobs you indeed can just walk into another job, I'd say in football it's normal for being tapped up before the person in the job has left. I think we sacked Davie Clarke after one game but that was in the days of no transfer windows, taking that into consideration you'd think you'd want someone in sooner than later with Raith still having money to burn.
  22. I don't think Raith could afford him for starters, Aberdeen and Hibs recently enquired and Hibs were looking to pay him less than what he was on previously, Aberdeen came nowhere near what he was looking for too Id guess a knockback or two has happened, It really isn't a good look to sack a manager after one league game. Future managers will take note of that
  23. Personally thought the ref had a decent game and all the yellows were deserved. Personally think Spencer made the most of the shove like most players do in that scenario, only idiot refs send players off for that. I've also seen players sent off for the challenge Mackie made for his booking Extreme nit picking faults for the ref who for me was a Bobby Dazzler
  24. Win the home games always been my go to in any league, the invincible mob tho win every game I picked Partick as my favourite for the league pre a ball was kicked, a long long way to go but hopefully you leave with no points on Saturday tho
