Noticed that Joel Sked was at Tenerife v Ibiza today. Look out for a big Saltire flag at the halfway line in one of his photos. Then noticed the Tenerife club crest. Looks familiar!

I looked this up on Google Maps too in order to check for proximity to the Dundonian Trinity: allotments, cemeteries and oil rigs.Was very, very close to heading to Craigie Park but instead stayed on the bus for a few more stops to go to Fairfield Park.

Chose this game because I'd thought it'll be close!
It was men against boys from the first whistle, obviously Harp have recently lost their manager, but they really did not look like a side in the Top Half of the Division - they looked woeful. It was 4-0 at HT, and if St James (who I was impressed with earlier in the season when I saw them play as Fintry against Ferry Athletic) could have scored 10 if they really wanted.
First time visiting the decent wee set up at Fairfield Park, a nice enclosure and it would be a very tidy ground.
None of the above located. But what in the name of Paul Hegarty is that big asteroid crater thing beside the park?

Was trying to figure out what the greenhousey things were in the background and then I realised it was a lot of greenhouses. Is it a Dundee thing to have allotments right beside a football ground?East Craigie 8 Downfield 0
Trip to Craigie Park to see what the league leaders were all about. Having seen Downfield put up a decent display against Blantyre of the WOSL Premier, I knew that they couldn't score goals, but soon found out they couldn't defend either. Could have been far more, including a missed pelanty at 6-0. Thought the standard was pretty woeful but much of that was down to the bumpy park. The Shipbuilders did get a decent passing game going especially second half.
Having a wee Google Maps visit to East Craigie I see they have an enormous cemetery down one touchline (like Pittodrie (ish), East End Park and Parkhead, and no doubt a few others), and lots of oil rig type structures down in the Tay.
Right up my street. I'd scarcely be watching the game with all that going on around me.
Added it to my wee list of grounds I need to visit.
Tell me the pies were good?
No games for me today alas, perhaps next weekend!

By my reckoning Edinburgh College v Pumpherston will become only 4th game in Scottish senior football history to be played indoor, following Spartans v LTHV (2016-17 EOS Qualifying Cup Final), Heriot-Watt Uni v Stirling Uni EOS and Heriot-Watt Uni v Leith (both 2017-18 EOS League - latter on Groundhop). There have also been some youth games plus matches in the womens and old west junior grades.
The Tennents Sixes (holders: Partick Thistle) were irrefutably played indoors, involving a dizzying array of Seniors teams. I once saw Manchester City play there. A different time indeed.
I did see Heriot-Watt University play a touring team from Northern Ireland called Michelin FC in a friendly at Oriam Spacedome. It was on a hot June day, about 30oC outside, and wonderfully cool inside in the shade.
More football games should be played indoors in June, as I cannot bear heat.
I might pop along this weekend, Storm Eunice dependent, this time I will bring my big coat.

Ventured past Lesser Hampden today. There's some sort of structure clearly taking shape now.
Trying to be positive about this stand, and the best I can come up is that it's definitely much bigger than the stand at Caledonian Braves.

Just bumped into Pele and Andrew Watson whilst having a wee coffee and slice of cake in Shawlands. There was a pigeon marking Pele.

Later that same season Airdrie beat Hibs in the Scottish Cup at Easter Road. (Random matches I went to 30 years ago...)I have always had a sneaky suspicion Airdrie would have beaten Hibs in the Final. Here's the Hibs team in the Final:

I remember on the day after the election, having pulled an all nighter watching LAB GAIN after LAB GAIN and the Tory big beasts getting beaten one after the other, I had eventually fallen asleep. When I got up, to get the results in full I had to wander down to the shop and pick-up an afternoon edition of the paper which had all the results in a "special pullout".
No 24 hour news channels to check in on, no Internet to find the results on (at least none in a wee device in my pocket).
By the time of the next election, post 9/11, clearly the Internet had fairly taken hold.
So 1997 might be the last time I bought two different editions of the same day's newspapers in order to give me information I couldn't otherwise get immediately.0 -
I remember it vividly! Some things which came immediately to mind (dates with the help of Google!):
Hogmanay 96 - the first seconds of 1997 saw me hopelessly separated from my pals, and caught up in the massive Princes St crush at the Mound. Over 300,000 people attended what was the last ticketless Hogmanay. It was very different to what passes for Hogmanay now, absolutely punk/drunk festival in comparison to the Instagram moment the modern thing has become. Pretty scary looking back. Was fun at the time.
2 March 1997 - Mansun supported by Travis at The Venue. Could pick probably dozens of gigs at that place in that very year, but this one stands out as the absolute peak. Mansun were a superb live band, and Travis were raw and raucous (at least back in their early days).
2 April 1997 - Scotland 2 Austria 0, Celtic Park. Went to most and perhaps all of the France 1998 home qualifiers. This night was up there with my favourite Scotland games ever. (Closely followed by Scotland beating Latvia to qualify 11/10/97; and Scotland beating Estonia at Rugby Park 29/03/97).
24 May 1997 - Killie win the Scottish Cup. Mentioned by others here. I went through on the Killie supporters bus from Mauchline. Massive day for my Dad, a huge Killie fan. A trip to the rugby sevens at Commonwealth Games besides, my last trip to that bloody place in Govan too.
12 July 1997 - TITP, Year 1 at Balado. Many fond memories here, but I'll go with The Longpigs in a packed King Tuts tent on the Saturday night as my moment.
19 August 1997 - Mogwai at the Jaffa Cake. The first Mogwai gig I went to, possibly. I've seen them more than any other band in the 25 years since, and I've already got one gig lined up for 2022.
31 August 1997 - Teenage Fanclub at the Jaffa Cake. The hottest gig ever. Absolutely packed. Epic. Prince Diana died that night.
2 September 1997 - as the nation mourned Diana, I scandalously attended U2 at Murrayfield and drew the ire of the tabloid press. The Pop Mart tour was gloriously understated - giant glitter balls, ludicrous stage etc. Not really a stadium show kind of person, but this was wonderful.
That lot besides, I was in first year going into second year at Uni, and I will have definitely spent every Friday night with my pals in Smith's Bar playing pool and feeding the jukebox. All converging on there after watching TFI Friday at a pals house with a carry out.
I'm not sure life will get better for me than 1997, but I did it in some form of style hopefully!2 -

I was going to Twilight Sad and some other shows, still no word from Celtic Connections on any of them.
James Graham has put this tweet out, I can't really fault him in any way for this point of view under his circumstances. Hopefully they'll be good to go for the Barrowlands in April (cancelled show from 2020!).

This isn't the league trophy?Does anyone have a photo of Aberdeen with the 1955 Scottish league championship trophy? Every picture I have seen including official club publications shows the team with the second eleven cup claiming it’s the league trophy always found this strange.

Watching this for the first time over the holidays. Onto Episode 3 and the opening section where Ringo and George work out Octopus's Garden is just wonderful.

Was also at the Edinburgh University v Spartans game. Big turnout on Futbology tonight, 13 checked in so far, including a guy who seems to have travelled from Italy to watch the Stoneyburn and Edinburgh University double header. Even the Romans never got as far as Stoneyburn!
Two good goals tonight. Was worth risking frostbite for that alone.1
