  1. No Ecrepont? I'd like to see him get a run out versus Queens Park. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ayr-united-starlet-finn-ecrepont-13056785.amp Scary to think he was born in 2002. Makes me feel ancient!
  2. ^This. Adams has the armband and is playing out his skin. There is no space until we play Alloa, Falkirk or QoS away (due to the artificial pitches).
  3. Talk about tinfoil hat stuff from the Dundee fans... Dundee fan 1 "We don't want Shankland he's rubbish" Ayr fan "Sir Lawrence doesn't want to join a crud premier league team like you, he can do better" Dundee fan 2 "We're five times bigger than Ayr, what a silly little part time club. Shankland should be thankful we are interested." Ayr fan: "We're not part time and I thought you weren't interested in Shankland?" Slience... Now jog on and discuss your latest attempt to stay in the big league and leave us provincial clubs alone!
  4. What's the cost of relegation? Home fans in Champ - 1800 (maybe optimistic) Away fans in Champ - 500 (average) Total = 2,300 Home fans in League 1 - 1500 Away fans in League 1 - 2 men & their dog Total = 1502 In my scenario, a loss of 800 fans. Give or take £15 a skull (the price would drop as well in L1) that's a cost of £216k to the club. Retaining Shankland doesn't guarantee survival but it makes the job easier. Why risk it for £250k? It makes no sense!
  5. You won't get offered anything close to £1m for him. I don't know about Ayr's financial situation but I'd be extremely surprised if they turned down anything over 250k. Prepare to be surprised.
  6. Laugh all you like! He's contracted to Ayr, hes happy at Ayr, we don't need the money and we have no motivation to sell that I can see. He won't be going unless it's a silly offer - in my opinion it's £1m.
  7. Double that again! If a club wants him in this window it will be £1m. If Scott McKenna is worth £4m I don't see how Shankland is worth £150k that's an insult!
  8. I'm going to chain myself and @Roxanne's manto the crash barriers on the North until something is done.
  9. Yeah, the realist in me thinks the same. Although the idealist is with @diegomarahenry.
  10. I reckon it was Adams that killed the one up at Forfar during McCall's post match interview. Using the power of his mind!
  11. No, you're right. It's murder on the North terracing when folks throw chips on the ground or abandon their food.
  12. You'd be surprised how ineffective a real hawk can be. They did that at my work and the seagulls attacked the hawk and it flew off. I don't think the Falconry guy ever got it back either!
  13. If Geggan can stay fit I'd be happy to stick with this squad to Jan, but a right sided defender would be the icing on the cake. ^My thoughts exactly Yeah, he signed a one year deal. I honestly can't see the club selling him for less than £1 million (laugh if you like...). I also don't think Shanks wants to leave if he keeps playing as he is he'll get a good move at the end of the season (like Devlin did). I reckon we just need to wait 5 more days as the English window closes which is where the risk lies. Outwith the Old Firm and maybe Aberdeen (if they sell McKenna), the Scottish teams don't have the money.
  14. Can't we all be positive and optimistic about the season ahead? Without the pious 'where are the McCall out gang now' and the equally frustrating we 'haven't achieved anything yet and McCall isn't that good' gang. For the first time in a long time there is a positive atmosphere around the place. The atmosphere at the game today was electric, you could feel the positive energy. Let's keep it going, this team deserve our full support.
  15. Don't be silly, Jamie Adams doesn't use a tractor he does it by hand!
  16. That would be ironic... although not going to happen! Tbd I'd rather win the game and the flag unfurling to go a bit haywire. The flag looked enormous on the flag pole. I take it the flag will be flying from the pole next to the hospitality for the Dunfermline game?
  17. We were great today! Everyone did their bit, Robbie Crawford was ace. Much better through the middle than out wide. Credit to the defence, Rose & Adams look like a great partnership. Big Adams is playing really well in there, I didn't think he would get much game time this season but the Farmer's doing well. What a buzz around the place with so many fans. Hopefully today's performance keeps them coming. We are definitely a club on the up!
  18. I very much doubt we would take £250k. It would have to be a ridiculous offer for us to sell. As mentioned the drop off in attendances and those of us who specifically joined the 500 club as the club got Shankland would cost the club more than that. Also the feel good factor surrounding the club would disappear. Just read the statement from McCall as well. Pleased he's ruling it out unless it's a ridiculous offer! Admittedly, English Championship clubs could make a ridiculous offer fairly easily given the financial disparity in football.
  19. Fantastic result. Felt we were by far the better team. 3-1 was justly deserved, it could have easily been more. Murdoch & Harvie look like very good acquisitions. Doohan looks fine his distribution was good and he looks big and strong. Roll on Albion Rovers...
  20. As promised, just sent an email to the AU500 club. So chuffed that Shankland has signed. Just need to buy my season ticket now!
  21. In the Championship I'd take tried and tested over potential any day of the week.
