We could field a team of galaticos and I’d still not be confident of beating Morton regardless of form

The next couple games will be an indication as to whether we’re looking up or down for the rest of the season. Priority is really just totally avoiding ninth and building from there. Early days but Davidson’s recruitment has been really positive. Welsh, Scott and Carse look excellent additions and with the added bonus of Danny Wilson to return and maybe the possible addition of Chris Kane, it’s a really competitive squad now.

I wouldn’t be devastated with a point to keep momentum going but I hope we give a better account of ourselves against Morton compared to every other  previous encounter. We always produce a horror show in this fixture

Not quite every other previous encounter, I was up for last seasons game at Ochilview when Eze's goal was chalked off for some mystery reason when we were 2-0 up.

Hoping we have the required dig/backbone required to compete with Morton's style of play. If we manage to compete with them physically we have a chance.

Welsh was sent off for being silly. His first yellow was for dissent, when the Ref gave a foul against him which it never was. Unless there is VAR  or a Lino intervenes they do not change their mind, so you should just shut up and get on with the game as you are only a bad tackle away from a red card. Which happened.

Your first sentence is undoubtedly correct but can't agree that he should be blamed for receiving the first and it looked more like a yellow for a non- foul anyway.

I hope so considering some of the comments underneath Exeter's post on Twitter. They seem to see him as nothing more than a waste of a wage and all-round sh*t.

As a Exeter City regular over the last two seasons I would say that's harsh! There's definitely a player in there but IMO yes tried too hard to impress and its backfired on him big time. Tried to showboat to much and mostly no end product. It's fair to say the fans have turned on him recently and probably wants a new challenge. When he did get in position he has a fine shot on him. He needs a loan or transfer out of Exeter and i think coming to you would be a great move for him.

  4. Really happy about this appointment, my fear when we lost a lot of ' influential ' people that our funder was losing interest but the new manager,  this appointment, the new signings (more to come) and the upgrading of Lochinch certainly has put that to bed ! Onfield looking rosier but still a lot to do offield !!

  5. Just back in from a very frustrating 98mins of football at Exeter, something like 80% of slow possession and nothing to show for it - where have you heard that before!

Honestly think that Exeter are a mirror image of Queen's at the moment (bar a better performance last night) they too had a good start to the season and have now lost 5 on the trot!

Exeter have Gary Caldwell as manager and he's from the same school of thinking as Veldman! IMO they both have a decent first eleven that they feel can successfully adopt there brand of ' total ' football but each team is really struggling to put into practise successfully and teams have now worked out how they play against it.

Incidently, for those that don't know me I was a QP fan home and away for many years before I moved down here about 3 years ago.

Anyway, hope both teams improve their results soon. Caldwell's job is pretty safe because Exeter tend to give their manager lots of time to get it right. Veldman, not sure, depends how the man with the money feels about the team and  if we're  in a relegation fight.

Tizzard was a complete liability tonight and we were lucky that he hadn't already cost us a goal. Yes, it was really harsh, but I think if you remove your Veldman-must-go specs you'll admit that it was fair.

On the whole a decent performance. Still a frustrating failure to create good chances, mainly due to a combination of poor decision making around the box and a reluctance to get bodies in the box when the ball goes wide - we're missing a proper number 10 and Savoury can't be fit soon enough, although McKinstry will hopefully be the man for that job before too long.

McPherson and Spong both excellent I thought.

While you could undoubtedly make more money from gate receipts on the 20+ match days each season with 800 paying fans than you could with 40 guests, I believe their argument was that the hospitality stand/suite can be used to generate revenue throughout the week by using it for more than just match days.

They also mentioned that it has already helped to suitably impress potential sponsors into putting money into the club. I have no idea of how lucrative that can be on a regular basis so can't say whether it's more financially viable than a stand for more people.

Again, the ideal situation would have been to incorporate the hospitality facilities into a stand that could also seat regular supporters. But if the money wasn't available for that size of build, the decision seems to have been made based on the belief that what we have ended up with is the most profitable option available.

I'm not saying it's perfect by any means, or even that i'm happy with it, just that this is my understanding of why we are where we are.

You normally talk a lot of sense but is it really ' the most profitable option available ' the club demolished  a 400 seater stand, which was just waiting to be extended to a bigger covered stand. This replacement box is just a vanity project, end of!

I've just finished listening to the most recent episode of The Spiders Talk Podcast.

I don’t use Twitter, but I know the guys involved are all on here, so I wanted to say a massive well done and an even bigger thank you to all three of you.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to each and every episode, and look forward to it every week, as I crave some sort of fix for QP content between games. Selfishly, I wish there were more than one episode each week (though obviously I understand that's not realistic).

I dont come into contact with many other Queens fans during the week who I can chat to about the games etc, so listening in to the chats on the podcast feels like the next best thing. I generally find I agree with most of what is said, and enjoy the fact that while it's obviously a QP podcast, the  guys are always very fair in praise their for the other teams, and criticism of our own team and club where relevant.

So thank you so much for giving up your time to put in the effort required for each episode for no reward. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to the next episode.

    👏👏👏👏👏

Agree with everything you’ve said, well done guys, super effort over the whole season.

I read a few pages back that there is a legal requirement for TWO practise events at Lesser before a safety certificate is issued.

    Any update/thoughts on this?

    A couple of pre-season friendlies?

Bit late in the day for this level of brinkmanship.

I'm guessing there must be a paying(?) crowd at these test events surely?

The decision makers may still be on holiday but still very poor from the club, no communication. Looks increasingly likely that we won’t be playing at Lesser next season I’m afraid.
