I'm still very wary of getting too hyped up over this team. If we are still competing at Christmas ill start believing. Stung too many times in the past.

To hell with that. Live in the moment and lap up the performances, post match interviews, highlights etc. We finally have a manager and team worthy of the navy blue after so many years of utter dross, enjoy it.

After years of the team being jeered off the pitch at fulltime in every game, that felt significant for me.

Another sign that maybe, finally, we've hit rockbottom and are now on the way up again.

Cracking pic. Two of my boys are in it 😁. Wee things like that make it all the more special for them.

  3. Fantastic performance from the team today, apart from a double save from Hogarth following some sloppy play we were totally dominant. Could easily have scored more especially Morrisons open goal miss at the end.

We have finally got a team worthy of the jersey, epitomised by Donaldsons lunging block when it was 2 nil. Also some impact from Carroll. Shout out to Burrell and Lawal for letting a few of the youngsters take some snaps at the final whistle.

    A great days work.

Your not factoring in progression in the league cup or the additional sponsorship that’s been brought in. These were incomes that were not budgeted for so will help close the gap, any sort of cup run or further new investment brought in will obviously also help close the gap. They new BOD have obviously taken a bit of a calculated risk to try and support the manager with a healthy playing budget, I can get on board with that provided there is a plan B. The club has been running a deficit in a majority of the previous years and the over spend is always covered one way or another.

We gained an extra £26k (£50k less £24k minimum) for the cup, I doubt the new sponsorship deals will be earth shattering in terms of money. So we're possibly looking at a £350k + shortfall based on available information. Worrying times.

Folk can't afford to feed their families and heat their homes so they are striking for a living wage and you're complaining about possibly not being able to get to the fitba? Really?

So to hell with the many people who rely on rail travel to get to work to be able to earn a wage? Idiot

  6. Bought tickets for myself and 2 of the kids and now regretting it. Had a rough idea the experience was going to be poor but having watched the fifer highlights and then realising we'll be standing on grass with the forecast of rain, this is going to be rough.

Tbh a facility like this shouldn't even be allowed in the professional ranks.  Absolutely zero consideration for the spectator.

I had kind of hoped John would've changed tact a bit this season and gone heavily after more good league one players like savoury, brown, ballantyne and perhaps some of the Airdrie players etc and persuaded them Falkirk was the place to be. We seem to have again gone down the route of signing players from higher leagues which so far hasn't been very successful.

We were in for Savoury, QP offered much more money. Source: One of my kids knows his cousin.

In addition we were also in for Easton and McCabe: Source: My nephew knows Easton.  Was close with Easton until Murray moved to Raith. It was also mentioned on the Falkirk Daft podcast.

Don't know the ins and outs but I assume that as Kennedy was injured with us we don't have the option to return him and pay nothing.  I expect we have to pay whatever fee we've agreed with Rangers until the end of the agreement regardless of whether he's injured or not.

Rangers are paying his wages whilst he is unavailable. Info came indirectly via Kenny Jamieson.

Major coverup that. How can telling us what happened add to the speculation for god's sake? What's the point in having a fans organisation of they wont tell you anything. What next? The clubs going bust but with respect to the board we didn't tell anyone. Feck me.

As per the BoD update 12 May 2022, which is in the public domain, it states that we require £300k additional income to ensure financial stability.  I'd like to know what progress is being made to reduce this deficit and has the projected figure changed for the better or worse.

Hopefully the BoD along with the FSS board are discussing this on a regular basis rather than burying their heads in the sand, and that there is a plan in place if the shit hits the fan. Imo this should be the number 1 agenda item.

Surely in that case you offer a programme that is affordable rather than just shutting it down entirely? It’s odd that people who rightly criticised the decision to shut the academy before seem to be quite happy to do the same now with barely a whimper.

I find it very hard to believe that £90k plus SFA grants was going to be enough to fund a full academy with lots of age groups, yet it’s somehow going to cost a ‘six figure sum’ to run one youth team.

Where was the money coming from to fund it up to this stage? As it surely can’t have been club funds if it was a secret team?

Good point about offering a watered down version. And the £90k sum for one 2010 team doesn't add up either.  A shame this wasnt publicised before the roadshows then perhaps a bit more info could have been shared.

Apparently when Kieran Kozary left the club he took his little black book of contacts with him and left no paperwork or any sponsor contact details. Sammy spent the first few days in his new job sitting in the main stand copying down the sponsors phone numbers printed on the advertising hoardings.

    That's just rubbish.

You’ve got a red dot for this from BPM who appears to be red dotting any post that’s not fully supportive of the board or Rennie.

Now I agree with BPM that the board inherited a mess and need and deserve time to fix it.

Where I disagree with BPM is that Rennie isn’t the answer. I don’t know what is, but Rennie has been a terrible appointment.

Tbf to BPM he did post after the Montrose game that change is needed.

So, the story of the season so far.

We recruit a manager who has little or no experience of managing a first team in the Scottish Football League system, despite much concern being voiced on forums such as P&B. The previous season’s squad had badly underperformed so we have to sign about 7 – 8 players to bolster the squad. It soon becomes clear that even with the expense of this badly need recruitment that the results and performances are way below what we should be experiencing: the manager is so far out of his depth and needs to go. We bring in a new manager who has to try and move on some of the underperforming players and again sign another 7 -8 new players in the hope of scraping into the play-offs in the 3rd tier of Scottish Football.

    My prediction for next season:

We retain a manager who has little or no experience of managing a first team in the Scottish Football League system, despite much concern being voiced on forums such as P&B. Deja effing vu!

The only differences between the Sheerin scenario and the Rennie scenario is that with Sheerin we didn’t really know how he was going to perform. With Rennie (I reiterate, I was pleased with the appointment at the time), he has had his chance already and failed miserably so we know how next season will go if he is still in charge.

It will just be another case of us having to shell out more cash that we don’t have. The board have a great chance to stop our usual manager and player recruitment roundabout and us continuing to haemorrhage money by getting rid of Rennie at the end of the season and bringing in somebody experienced in the Scottish game to start the new season afresh.

Your prediction for next season will be wrong imo.

It must just be me but I actually support the opposition against Rangers and Celtic when they play in Europe. I don’t recognise either as representatives of Scotland, both would leave our leagues if they had the slightest sniff of an opportunity to do so and neither set of fans particularly identify with anything Scottish.

This was taken from a Scotsman article back in June 2019:

'Yet, data revealed by the digital manager of the SFA shows that Rangers have the biggest percentage of fans among Scotland Supporter Club members.

They are followed by four of the other 'big five' - if you will. Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts and Hibs, in that order.'

Previous boards really have treated young footballers in our area like shite in recent years. They have left the new board with an absolute c**t of a job to try and persuade  youngsters to even consider coming to our club. We probably now have a terrible reputation at youth level when in years gone by our academy was held in extremely high regard.

Is that last sentence a bit of an over reaction considering we've just announced 14 new academy players?

We’d struggle to field a team at all if that was a criteria for signings- the majority of players will be Rangers or Celtic fans.

Personally I couldn’t care less what team players or managers support- in reality they are here doing a job.

Agreed. It's no big deal. I'm sure I read on here K Miller was part time which would allow him time to do his media thing

Article on the COYB facebook page. Reading between lines Ian Fergus pulled a hard and fast one. Brought in a bunch of kids at U12 level, promising pro youth and the world, then he left without telling anyone, New board had no clue and doesn;t have the funding for it so cut the team.

IMO writing was on the wall when he came to us, gutted boys clubs from Edinburgh, and presented them as a new squad almost instantly scouted. Sure, it was enjoyable for us as we benefitted, but one day he'd do something dodgy to us too. Only took him about 6 months it seems!

Wow, that's bad. Hopefully someone at the club has contacted each family personally to apologise.

We've seen Martin play and I don't think we have to see Holt play given Gretna sent him back from his loan.

But either Martin's injured or he's had a falling out with Rennie as he's not been in any of the match day squads for a while.

Apparently his gretna teammates nicknamed him 'bagel hands'

Sorry, but why the f**k is Rennie staying even a conversation piece?

No chance he'll be here next season. The BoD may have blundered by appointing him, but they are not that stupid that they'll renew his contract.

They are watching the exact same dross as us and will know that hes not the man to mount a title challenge.

He could wear a bloody dress and I wouldn't give a feck if he got us promoted.Im not a fan I'd just take him if available. It's a no brainer if you ask me compared to the other options that are about.

Agreed, you'd be insane to turn your nose up at mcglynn. Ticks all the boxes in terms of producing winning teams, good recruitment etc. If Murray was unobtainable then mcglynn would be my next choice.
