Accies vs Staggies
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to Rosscubed's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
This game is already a Must Win as if Ross County go eight points in front,we will never catch them even at this early stage. Thus,a big incentive for the Staggies although I don't recall us losing three in a row under Rice and expect a battling performance -unlike last Saturday. Rice probably had one eye on this game judging by his team selection on Wednesday and there will be a few changes as is always the case. -
Accies v Aberdeen
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to FuzzyBear's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Relegation would be much worse. We have to hang in there until January and get bodies in who can play midfield and one for right back. No excuses for having no back up right back and the midfield or lack of it which helped to bring down Canning-will be the downfall of Rice as he is making the same mistakes and playing powderpuff players who can't dominate any form of possession ensuring we are creating very little and putting pressure on the back line. That game should have been an easy 3 or 4 goal away win and our only hope was a half chance once Davies came on it a free kick. There are ways of losing games and that wasn't it.Poorest Aberdeen away support I have seen here although that is understandable due to Sunday and the fans attitude towards McInnes. Not that long ago they brought more on a Wednesday night than a Saturday here and they always used to bring good numbers midweek,so their fan base must be right pissed off. Must win on Saturday if only to delay the inevitable for a few more weeks.Rice talks the talk and says all the right things but then does the opposite in games. -
There are three certainties in life:death, taxes and Accies losing in Perth. Decided to take the dog to Linn Park,Glasgow instead of the game (mostly due to being skint at the minute) as I knew what was coming having witnessed many demoralizing defeats in Perth over the last 42 years-deserved or undeserved. Never checked any scores/internet as wanted to do a "Likely Lads" and watch the game on Alba unaware of events when I arrived back shortly before six.Sadly,no surprise as the midfield is -like under Canning-the worst in the League by a country mile and lets the rest of the team down. Some bizarre subs by Rice:bringing on a past it McKinnon and Moyo a guy who makes Bingham look prolific. After looking like sneaking an undeserved point,it was no surprise to see ball watching for the winning goal. A lot of anger on Accies forums but I take a more philosophical view as we always lose in Perth and it will be typical Accies to win versus Aberdeen on Wednesday night. The way we were bossed about in midfield was more concerning than the inevitable defeat and there better be a backlash as to meekly surrender bringing the bottom sides back into it is typical Accies.

Hamilton v Hibernian
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to Wee-Bey's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Derek Adams and his Dad trying to sit inconspicuous in the Accies end...the vultures are indeed circling it seems. -
Nothing to worry about as you are our eternal bogey team since the late 1970's,so expect your first home win.

Hamilton v Hibernian

Accies to do what we usually do and give a team/player in need of a boost a lift or a goal...cue Doidge then us to equalise for another 1-1 which seems to be the Hibs scoreline of choice these days. -
As soon as I saw that team I knew what was coming and Canning has been slated for less for that. A game where you need an outlet from the constant pressure so what does Rice do...only plays the one striker we have who can't hold the ball up and this Steve Davies stuff perhaps could have some truth in it as why would you have a guy doing the media build up for the game and then have him nowhere near the pitch? I would rather do what Livvy did at I Ibrox a few weeks ago and have a go as you are going to get beat anyway and the Rangers central defence don't like it up them as Dykes has proved,so at least give them something they have to work for. That game was lost as soon as Livvy beat Celtic and it is the manner of the defeat which is a disgrace allowing a glorified training session which wouldn't have happened under Alex Neil who would have made them fight for the three points rather than that pathetic surrender.

Away Ticket Pricing
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to BC1888's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
After a couple of decent results for Accies, was tempted to go to Ibrox until I saw the prices for next weekend,so Hesgoals.com it will be for most- unless they buy the reduced price tickets which are also a rip off. One of my neighbours-Celtic Season Book holder of many years- was telling me Saturday cost him £32.This madness must stop and it doesn't help when idiots on Social Media lambast small away supports from whatever team without looking at WHY many fans refuse to pay those prices and don't travel. A boycott by Old Firm away fans sadly for them won't work as there are too many idiots who would jump in and pay the prices. Perhaps if this campaign fails it may be time in the future to think of more extreme measures but that is a conversation for way in the future. -
My brother was in the reserves under Iain Munro who tipped him for the top and like me was/is Accies daft.A terrible knee injury against Maccabi Tel Aviv in a closed doors match ended his pro career at 18 and he was in the same Lanarkshire youth sides as Barry Ferguson,Lee McCulloch,David Lilley,Paul Hartley,Jamie McAllister,John Paul McBride and others. The pride my Dad felt watching him in the reserves(he was still sixth year at Holy Cross)would have been 100 times that in the first team.He made a comeback of sorts playing occasionally for Cadzow Accies and The Bruce(now Mrs Milsy's) with myself and it was a case of what could have been sadly.

Away Ticket Pricing
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to BC1888's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Tynecastle was £29 for us Accies fans on Saturday,so Hesgoals.com or other sites it was for most of us who would have went. I coined the phrase " Twenty's Plenty" last season and am glad some folk including a fellow Accie are talking of a campaign for this. This issue of away prices across the top two divisions now is something that needs to happen as where will it end up? Coincidentally, pal of mine went to West Ham v Norwich instead which was £27...cheaper than Tynecastle was. -
Never went today as couldn't make it but your report sounds a role reversal from last week where we had some good passages of play with a resolute defence. Can't see why Stanger is away to a level below that where he came from and likewise Jack Breen dropping further down again.Don't think either of these moves is ideal for their development.

Scotland's Shame
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to deadasdillinger's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Will someone not think of the environment what with all this plastic from The Plastic Paddies and Plastic Ulstermen on the other side. As has been said already, the longer this season goes the worse it will get and Referees will increasingly pander to either cheek to avoid accusations of bias leaving the rest of our teams to suffer the consequences. It is only when you move elsewhere that you see this bigotry for what it is and the thing is neither of them can see it. Sadly it will never change and I actually think it is worse now the amount of tubes supporting them as the peer pressure leads the weak willed in the West of Scotland to follow the hordes and not stand alone and support their local sides whether that be Accies,Airdrie,Dumbarton,Morton,Motherwell etc etc. -
Apparently they were unlucky against Thistle, only being undone by defensive mistakes. As for us,letting Sowah go was a bad move I felt at the time as the guy was capable of playing a few positions and would have been a regular for me this season. That game at Paisley,it was Sowah and Ziggy who seemed to single handedly repel the wave of St.Mirren attacks until we were beaten by a lucky break of the ball. A back four this season of McGowan,Ziggy or Stanger(not playing Stanger at right back as Rice has done in friendlies),Sowah and Hunt or young Leon McCann would have sufficed and allowed us to splash any cash to strengthen our shocking midfield.

Queen's Park 2019/20
Ye Olde Hamiltonian replied to an86's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Enjoyed reading this thread and have always taken an interest in Queens Park due to the history and status of your club. Forgetting our abject display on Saturday,I was impressed by QP on Saturday:some nice wee passing moves and players busting a gut against some in our team resting on their laurels allied with a good shape and you deserved the extra point. My brother moved to the South side and has been at more Queens games(the Martin Canning effect)than Accies and enjoys his trips to Hampden but like myself feels you guys are missing out as there are plenty of people in The South Side who want nothing to do with the gruesome twosome but want a side to support who will strive to go places instead of treading sand every year. Fwiw,my Mrs' old man was a Thirds supporter from Cathkin and there is no reason a semi-pro Queens Park with their great youth policy could not move up the Leagues in the fullness of time especially if you tap into the South Side community. All the best for the rest of the season but speaking as an outsider, sometimes you have to change to avoid being left behind in modern football.A refurbished and renamed Lesser Hampden bringing in revenue allied to turning professional will help in retaining and recruitment in respect of retaining the best of your youth and senior players.
