Me and 2 mates walking home in Methil one night about midnight when a Police car and van screech to a halt beside us and we're thrown in the back of the van. Taken to the station and thrown in seperate cells. No reason given. Released about 5am, again with no reason given. Asked them why I was lifted and was just told to f**k off.
Still don't have a clue.
My wife was in the Observer Corps - trained in metereology and was to be one of the girls writing backwards on a perspex screen in a government bunker.
They expected the nearest airburst to be at Edzell.
Interestingly, there were a number of shelters in Dundee. The biggest is underground under the Caird Hall and stretches all the way to the Tay Bridge. This was for everyone in central Dundee. Every scheme had it's own shelter and they ran simulations every year practising the evacuations. These were mostly successful except they never managed to save Fintry in time.
It's not the guys doing 30 in town or 60 on an A-Road that are the problem, it's those doing 50 in town and 80 on an A Road, using mobiles, tailgating, driving like fannies. They'll continue to do this no matter the speed limit.
