  1. Chinese football gearing up to go mental in their latest transfer window with Oscar strongly linked with a £60m, £400k per week move to Shanghai SIPG.

Here's what BBC football heavyweight Marlon Harewood has to say in his expert analysis of the Chinese league:

"There is a lot of money in China. They've seen the Premier League and want to bring that to their country. The way to do that is bring in the best.

The standard of football is high. They have great quality players.

The wage Oscar will be getting is phenomenal."

Thanks for that insightful input, Marlon.

  2. Spoiler

Why couldn't they just catch the two guys when they were sitting in the restaurant?  It's not like in an actual real life scenario the police would just wait until they were outside the building.

Is Brailsford still using "marginal gains" as a reason why his domestiques continually keep dropping some of the finest climbers in the world?

Guys like Nieve, Landa and Henao don't even look like they need to drop off on the climbs.  It's almost got the feel that they do it because they don't want to raise any more suspicion than they already do by having 4/5 riders up top when Quintana is dropping off the back.

Not been much chat on here of Adam Yates remarkable Tour to date.  If he keeps up this level of form then he'll surely be a future Sky leader...

The always questionable Valverde basically conceding the Tour is over saying that the Sky domestiques are climbing with such power that it's impossible to attack Froome.

You wonder where the other riders get the motivation to get out of bed once Froome goes into the yellow jersey.  As soon as he's in it, the race is basically over for the other GC contenders for the reason Valverde has given.  It just makes the overall race completely boring from about day 7 and, barring any injuries, Froome and Sky will just continue to dominate the race for years to come.  If I was a rider I wouldn't bother attacking him out of protest to signify how boring they've made the mountain stages (that one freak day aside).

  5. Slater, Ashcroft, Syme and Connolly already released.

Hodson and Findlay loans over, Addison and Henshall out of contract. If the 13 figure is accurate then that's four to go... McHattie, Carrick, Westlake and Smith?

ETA - Chris Johnston gone, apparently.

Why has Slater been released?  Looked the best player on the park yesterday, or was that just a one off?

Addison also looked a big, handy unit at the back in both play off games.

  6. As general point, what would you rather do: finish 12th in the EPL and win the FA Cup or finish 6th/7th in the league with no cup run?

Everton have had a poor league campaign, but a cup win is surely a bit more interesting than competing for a Europa League place once again.  If they do win it, the target would then be to push on in the league again next year whilst going on another cup run.

  7. Just finished watching the People vs OJ Simpson drama on BBC.  Crazy to think Avery was found guilty when OJ was found innocent.  It still haunts me to picture Avery and Dassey stuck behind bars every day.

  8. Gutted this is finished. Really strong last episode (though a bit light on Olivia Wilde scenes) - the good mix of music tied the whole thing together, with bits of early rock n roll, going in to punk, disco and even the roots of hip hop. Plenty of scope for another series.

Was Monday's the last in the series?  If so, a bit gutted! Love the show.  Althoguh, there wasn't much of a cliffhanger ending, was there?
