However if there’s a shortlist that you want to narrow down, go read some reviews from car journalists. If you’re focusing on one particular segment (eg hot hatches) then chances are somewhere there will be a head to head group test that will help immeasurably. These guys do it for a living and are an immeasurably bigger bore on the subject than even me. They know what they’re talking about.

Have a look at the owners club Facebook group or forum for the particular make/model of car you're looking at, there are some very knowledgeable people on them (along with some nutters) that can be a great place for advice on what to look for when buying. Speaking from experience the Suzuki Jimny one has been invaluable to me, both for advice pre purchase and re assurance post purchase!

Thanks for that. Yes the filter should be cleanable - the tuning company I got to come round would have done it and reset the warning message but they couldn’t access the filter due to it being too tight to the gearbox.

It’s in limp mode as you say - no poke at all when you start it up,  really struggles on any sort of incline and 80 seems to be top whack. It’s supposedly self cleaning the filter but I’m not convinced.

At the dealer on Wednesday so we’ll see what they say then - will definitely be querying why they didn’t check the filter when it was serviced and I raised the noise levels.

Try some Forte DPF cleaner, go out for a drive and really boot it, high speed, lower gear on the dual carriageway.

I had the same problem on my old Toyota Urban Cruiser, quoted £2000 for a new (genuine) DPF, which was double the value of the car at the time and was never going to happen. It took a fair while of thrashing it at about 60mph in 3rd gear, just below the red line on the rev counter before it went.

Tickets booked for the Halloween horror night at Universal in October, must say I am getting dragged to this, being scared out my pants not my idea of fun at all.

I'm a big fan of Halloween horror Nights. I wasn't sure if I'd like it the first time I went, but it is some laugh! The haunted houses are great to look at inside and you will definitely get some jump scares but nothing outrageous (imo)!

Get express passes if you can afford it, makes the evening much more enjoyable if you can do things at your own pace, don't be surprised to see queues of over 2hrs between 8 and 11pm. With an express pass the longest we waited the last time was 15 mins.

Cheers, bud, we're booked with Lufthansa straight through to the destination with a 4 hour transit on the way out so that sounds like it should be okay. Way back might a bit more problematic, only an hour and half, but that will be down to them if there are any probs - I'll post again if there are!

Had an 1hr 30 min international transfer through Frankfurt last week from Newark (United) to Lufthansa for Edinburgh. The worst part was the shuttle bus from Terminal C to Terminal B, which seemed to take an age, but in the end we had ample time to make the connection. The Newark to Frankfurt flight was delayed by 15 mins or so but we never had to go back through security or reclaim bags so it was fine!

Did see signs up in lockdown 1.  Chained up maybe an exaggeration but cable tied signs over swing seats was a point fife council made.

Playpark in the village I live in was chained shut by P&K council, seemed a bit overkill to me!

As an aside, my 88 year old grandfather was admitted to hospital on Xmas eve with a pretty severe urine infection, and now has covid. Symptom-less so far afaik, but he'll be a "in hospital with covid" statistic now.

  6. Bump. Has anyone been to Busch Gardens and if so would you recommend going?
I've been before but it was on holiday with my parents and about 15 years ago.  We're only in Orlando for a week before heading to the Bahamas so it's not a massive timeframe. We're still going to do universal and probably one of the disney parks.
I was there in October 2018 and it was great for roller coasters, it was so quiet we practically had the park to ourselves, never waited any longer than the next carriage to arrive at the station for any of the rides. Probably not much to do with younger kids though. Plus it is a fairly long drive from the Kissimmee area, but it's not a difficult drive, mostly on the freeway. From memory it was about an hour and a half from our villa.
  7. Transferred through Schiphol to Atlanta last year, you don't have to go through passport control/security again. You do have to go for a interview thing with a security person who asks you questions like "What is the purpose of your visit to the USA?" etc, and they will ask to see your passport and put a sticker on it. Between getting off the KLM plane and the interview thing and getting to the gate for the Delta flight to Atlanta took about 40 mins or so.

  8. Was with Delta to Orlando in October, was decent enough, food was fairly good and alcohol was free on the trans Atlantic flight, think it was charged on the domestic flights though. Good selection on the in flight entertainment as well. Much better than United Airlines in my experience.

  9. I've had enough of Hartley and his pish, especially his shite about playing attacking, entertaining football. Get to f**k, this season on the whole has been the worst to watch in a decade.
    I'm out.

C'mon, worst to watch in a decade? You just lost all credibility with that one. Every time we have a poor result this nonsense gets wheeled out - I've seen plenty worse Dundee sides than this one and I'm only 25.

Scottish football is what it is, every side in the league apart from Celtic struggles with erratic form most seasons. You've clearly made your mind up though, so just support Manchester United and Real Madrid and be done with it.
  10. I'm fucking sickened with this squad. Totally at my wits end.
We're rubbish. We've battled wonderfully against Rangers and demolished a stinking Motherwell defence in a 20 minute period. We'll never reach a higher standard than a few good wins here and there with this squad/manager though.
Williams on a three year contract has me in pain tonight, chaps. McGowan central to our weak as shit midfield again for the hudredth time since he signed. Julen with an insipid display, proving his woefulness. We always throw in a great performance now and then which gets alot of c***s carried away.
Change is needed in the summer. I've had enough, the manager is failing in his duties. He's been backed to the hilt and has us with a squad who are no better than even Ross County who are below us at the moment. We're failing at the moment and it's because teams like Partick Thistle have assembled a stronger team than us.

A sense of entitlement that would make a Rangers fan blush.
  11. Fender Japan 51 Precision Bass

    Fender Mexican Jazz Bass

    Hofner 500/1 bass

    Fender Mexico Telecaster

    Eden 600w bass amp

I'm one of the clichéd failed guitarists turned bassist; I've been strictly bass for around 8 years now, and I'm still no expert! I still gig fairly regularly with a Scottish Traditional/ceilidh band, however the gigs I've enjoyed the most over the years have been straightforward rock cover gigs - decent bar to play I and a lot of drink and they can be a great laugh!

  12. Anyone read Dundee Mad? Fs. They're one step away from calling for Hartley's head. You'd think we were struggling in the Championship, we're 8th in the Prem ffs!

The place is totally bi-polar, one week we're the greatest team ever to grace Dens park, and the week after we've got a team that would struggle to win League 2. Totally embarrassing knee jerk reaction stuff. The long term vision of the club surely has to be built around stability and losing four games on the bounce is hardly end of the world stuff.

    Edited for poor grammatical skillz.

  13. I'm not overly concerned. Every team has poor spells, just unfortunate that we've played United and Aberdeen so close together, which were always going to be tough matches, and ones that we were unlikely to win either way. Ross County was a poor result, but shit happens! As long as we don't hit panic stations and do anything stupid, we'll come good again.
