  1. He pleaded not guilty and has faced no criminal proceedings, how can he be rehabilitated or demonstrate remorse? Yes, ‘suddenly’ there is a huge line drawn at rape. Others such as Martindale have accepted responsibility for their offences and have demonstrated insight into the ramifications and impact of their offences. Those are signs of rehabilitation. I like how you have pointed out that Martindale served a custodial sentence but still fail to see what the difference is between his case and this one. Surely you’re not that dense?
  2. It is an enormous issue in our society that so many men are so desperate to defend actions such as Goodwillie’s, simply on the basis that he doesn’t have a criminal conviction for it. I would be very, very interested to know if RavyDavy, Raith Raver and others like them would be willing stand in front of one of the many, many rape victims out there whose abusers did not face criminal proceedings, and tell them they weren’t actually raped, because nobody was criminally convicted for abusing them.
  3. I’m putting point-scoring, patter and wisecracks aside for a minute here, and ask you this: Please, explain how people are being ‘woke’ about this?
  4. David Goodwillie raped someone. That’s about as concise a summary I can give you.
  5. You also hope the survivor of his attack is doing well, and that she’s not having to see his name being mentioned too much.
  6. You’d expect the employees of any workplace to voice their concerns should a rapist start working with them. Football will/should be no different. There must be at least one player in that Rovers dressing room or employee list who wants to ask the club what the f**k they’re playing at and wanting away. Aye, I came to say a similar thing. Ultimately, I just feel really disappointed for the many decent Rovers fans who want to wake up thinking this is all some hideous nightmare. Just so I understand you correctly, you don’t want to see DG playing for you, but you won’t stop going to the games.. but you hope the Club will reconsider if enough people don’t go to the games? Terrific post. You’ve nailed a lot of the nuances here and, as I said in my reply to Rugster, I’m a bit heartbroken for the likes of yourself. I already get the impression the club thought this was going to be, at worst, an unpopular signing, maybe with a reduced attendance for a few weeks before folk forgot about it. Instead, this is such a dark day for (what once was) your football club.
  7. Looks like McInroy had a really successful spell at Airdrie after a solid 6.5/10 spell with ourselves.
  8. Aye just constantly injured. Someone pointed out that he’d played X games since Y date, and even now he’s fit it doesn’t seem like he’s in Hughes’ plans. Very good Championship player when he’s fit, he reads the game really well and can control the midfield. Time will tell, though, if he can reach similar form since he’s been out a fair while.
  9. Iain Wilson will be a very good signing if he stays fit. Quite disappointed to see him going to a relegation rival.

  11. #DAFC are delighted to announce the loan signing of Polish U21 Goalkeeper, Jacob Stolarczyk, on loan from @LCFC, until the end of the season. Subject to international clearance
  12. Fucking hell, what a signing that could be. Could also turn out to be a waste of everyone’s time, where he’ll play a total of 62 minutes between now and May and in 7 years’ time you’ll occasionally have the “mind when Rangers signed Aaron Ramsay” conversation in the boozer, ending in someone googling it because they simply don’t remember it happening. In all seriousness, what is he earning at Juventus and what do you suppose Rangers are paying him?
  13. Good point. 6 points from relegation to League Two is pretty grim. Not a chance that’s happening though.
  14. Fair play to you boys trying to outdo our 2014/15 season. Are you confident of getting a playoff spot at all?
  15. Yeah, I’ll report him when I’m walking home.
  16. I’m sure he’d be absolutely fine on a jury. This an internet chat forum, not a criminal courtroom. People are allowed to make very reasonable conclusions based on damning evidence. This sanctimonious “I refuse to comment until legal proceedings have taken place because I’m extremely intelligent” stance isn’t quite the look you think it is.
  17. 275 could be about right for the away end so you might be right.
  18. Utterly bizarre statement if that’s what he’s said. No wonder victims rarely feel they can speak out if their own parents will say shit like that.
  19. That’s probably the first game this season where every player has been given a clear role and they’ve just done it well. Chalmers did what Todd and Allan aren’t capable of at this level; just win and keep the ball. Dorrans was good at opening up the game and Pybus was a good physical presence. None of these roles are particularly difficult or flashy but we had a good balance I’m midfield and it allowed us to control the game. Lawless had a good creative influence, Dow was lively and played with some freedom, and McCann won just about everything he went for and linked up well with Lawless and Dow. His finishing was disappointing though, I thought O’Hara would have been a good option for the last 20 minutes at least. Comrie had great energy and Edwards was solid. Donaldson did his job and it was great to see Lewis Martin back in, his discipline and determination was excellent. Everyone just did their job and it led to a confident looking performance.
  20. Definitely a chorus of “what’s the score” but not sure about “get to f**k.” The wind has been a massive factor in this half. The second half will be the complete opposite and I expect to see it played almost entirely in our half. We’ll panic if we concede first and I don’t see us scoring in this half unless we break quickly.
