  1. It's important to note that the WS did canvas the members on whether they would consider outside investment and the outcome was very much in favour. To boot oor Erik's bid into the sea and claim "look it's all shite" would also be against the will of the members. We should continually look at investment options and only accept one that suits everybody involved.

With the makeup of folk on the WS board I can't see them being willing to look into any other opportunities, given the views of those that represent there.

My tuppence worth: McMahon and his buds wanted some sort of legacy project left so railroaded this through. Now we're in this sorry state of affairs. The sooner he leaves his post the better.

Tbh, I'd respectfully suggest that it's less the proposal that could get the WS into action and more the likes of McMahon, Dickie and Feeley being removed from the equation.

The brief statement attributed to Dickie yesterday pretty much makes concrete the entirely backward situation that we've been in which has seen an Executive board working to its own agenda which in Dickie's own words doesn't 'align' with that of the WS (the majority shareholder/owner of the club).

It's often been hinted at but I'd say that what played out yesterday largely confirms that the Executive Board of the club were entirely happy to pay lip service to 'fan ownership' without wanting to actually act in service of it.

Based on what we've now seen I don't think it's a particularly great leap to make to suggest that the WS has actually been stymied in what it's been able to do by the likes of McMahon, Dickie and Feeley.

Which is something that a lot of the 'what have you done for me lately?' crowd would do well to consider when they're taking shots at the WS.

The best thing that could come out of this carry on is if it results in the old fellas in the boardroom get launched into orbit like they are Team Rocket.

We can revisit this investment stuff after that.

  3. I suppose what I'd want to put to @Erik Barmack is what the sheep are bringing to the table if it's not just money. Totally understand that nobody invests in a football club without wanting something out of it.

From the initial look at what the WS put out http://thewellsociety.uk/ it does seem a bit of a nonsense. Valuing the entire club for less than one of Lennon Miller's legs seems like a pretty low ball offer. The way this reads to me is that The Well Society need to put as much cash in as Barmack but sign over the ownership of the club to  Wild Sheep Sports eventually. This seems like the fans are getting saddled with the risk here.

So if this were to be Dragon's Den (Shark Tank if you're American) and we're giving over a huge chunk of our company. ~£320k a year kind of seems like it'll make a wee dent in some of the running costs but nothing that will help us be competitive. What are we getting in return if we bring in Wild Sheep that might help us progress?

Ideally it would be cool if we could see something similar to the WS document from the other side to explain.

Side note: I don't think EB's a bad guy. I'm just extremely sceptical about how this could be a good thing.

    Hey,

I'll chime in here as a long-time reader, but first-time poster, and I didn't really feel like it was appropriate to wade into the conversation until people had a chance to read what's been proposed.  I don't want to clog up space here, but am happy to answer questions, and I also will respond to emails (erik@wildsheepcontent.com) provided that said emails aren't, "Why aren't you in a bin yet?"

As a top-line thought, I want to share that we've worked on this because we think it can help grow MFC.  And that the conditions/levers on this particular opportunity are quite difficult to figure out -- fan-ownership, valuation, investment needed, cultural fit, and our own personal hopes/desires as a family all needed to be balanced.  I will say, from our side, this a (potential) emotional investment, not a purely financial one, and so the key question for us is, "Would the Club be better off in six years with this kind of hybrid structure in place?"

If the answer is no, I'm still going to root for MFC and will join TWS.  I do also want to add that both the MFC and TWS Boards have been generous with us in trying to find common ground, and I believe those with whom I've spent time can vouch that we do care about trying to improve the Club.  So, if helpful, I'm here if there are questions I can answer and hope that the context above is helpful.

Saw them a few times. Brilliant live. Was also at an MTV show they recorded. One of the support bands was called The Testicicles. 😁

    Also great:

Keeping it local, I'm still of the opinion that 1990s debut album Cookies is one of the finest indie albums ever made.

Dev Hynes band. Subsequently went on to do stuff as Blood Orange and Lightspeed Champion.

He's done bunch of production/writing work including this goddamn gorgeous beautiful song.

Of course! I forgot he'd done that. I mean talk about a breadth of talent.

On an unrelated matter, what's the Club policy on draping flags over the pitch-side advertising?

Is it "Ye cannae dae that it hides paid-for advertising" or "Yer the Auld Firm, dae whit ye want"?

My human says he'll buy me a flag with my photie on it.

Is there no way they can have it on the ugly concrete bit that appeared as part of the Hunter stand improvements. Would surely keep everyone happy.
