  1. The only thing that can save this season is McPake being found guilty of homophobia, it would force the club into removing him.

Paul McGowan has 3 separate convictions for assaulting polis and spitting on someone outside a nightclub along with other things we aren’t privy to. I can only imagine he has about 16 points on his drivers licence as well. (Better solicitor than Leigh Griffiths)

If found Guilty Mcpake will no doubt be offered a contract extension until 2025 trying to keep us in league 2 against newly promoted Kelty Hearts.
  2. Would've thought a more red-oriented third kit would be more appropriate, though it feels like we're lessening the use of red more and more.

Next season id suggest a similar style to the rangers collar with a hint of red in the collar and sleeve cuffs and i think we’d have a throwback to the lovely umbro kits of the 80’s easily my favourite style of dundee tops after the Admiral kit.

Love a bit of Red in our kits every now and then! Need to bring back the blue red and white bar style scarfs too they would sell quite well

  3. I noticed that when we were knocking the ball around, Ayr had 6 across the back with a another two in front of them. Kane did well at times to be strong and create some space for himself but we really need some creativity from the midfield and get the ball forward quicker.

Agreed; a midfielder who can see the space to set up hemmings and he’ll do the rest thats all i remember from his first blessing in our lives.
  4. Just lifted this from Dark Blue Forum seems like an excellent idea to me:
At present, the club loses out on money from fans who don't have a spare £350 in their bank account. They lose out on PATG money from fans who can't make it that particular week. They lose out on money from fans who begrudge physically taking £24 out the bank half way through the month. The traditional season ticket/PATG system is outdated.

If we moved to a membership style system I am convinced it would result in more fans making a contribution to the club, more income to the club and higher attendances. Thinking about how it could work for DFC I would suggest 3 different categories of membership:

Gold - £35 per month (£420 per year)

    1. Entry to all home games, including friendlies and cup games.
    2. Free kids tickets.
    3. Priority for away tickets.
    4. 10% discount in club shop.
    5. 10% discount on food/drink in ground.
    6. 10% discount on hospitality.
    7. Monthly draw to win hospitality
    8. Access to DeeTV highlights, interviews etc.

Silver - £30 per month (£360 per year)

    1. Entry to all home league games.

Bronze - £10 per month (£120 per year)

    1. 25% off PATG prices
    2. 10% discount club shop
    3. 10% discount on food/drink in ground
    4. 10% discount on hospitality.
    5. Monthly draw to win hospitality
    6. Access to DeeTV highlights, interviews etc.

The prices/discounts would of course need to be calculated for viability better than I have just done but something along those lines I believe would be popular. Psychologically a direct debit that comes out the start of every month is much less noticeable than having to pay a high lump sum once a year or physically taking cash out the bank.

A pretty good idea in theory, id love nothing more than to contribute to our club but its harder to convince most people given our chequered past with finances.

Do Hearts not have something like this that helped fund their new main stand?

  5. I don't speak with any exaggeration when I say we robbed Peterhead. Midfield could barely string 2 passes together, and the team barely made any attempt at attacking. Peterhead were far more fluid than us and looked the better team the whole game. Our only credit is keeping a clean sheet. McDaid in particular was dreadful, every time he got the ball play essentially stopped. I will say though that he was at least willing to take a fucking shot!
No depth in the squad at all (Shocker, I know) and once Curran was on there was nobody you could think of that would change this. Desperately need players signed by Sunday.
So, in summation, not too great. At least we can win a penalty shootout.

Couldnt have put it any better! What is it with our club and having a tendency to not have strikers and lack of creativity in the middle of the park? bar the odd gem such as Stewart, Hemmings, Kamara in recent times albeit that was only 2 seasons its been in a rut since.

Listened to open all Mics at the game and it sounded like Keatings was having a blinder for inverness on the wings, Inverness i might add had 22 shots at goal compared to our lame attempts at 8 with nil on target. Another player we maybe should have given a second chance to at this level?

Hoping theres some pen and paper emojis on the twitter this week otherwise...

I’ll do absolutely f**k all about it...

Will continue to rant and spout pish on this and still support the derry regardless!

  6. Cheered that nelson goal louder than any goal scored all last season quite enjoyed tonight, i really still cannot understand some of the trumpets in the Bobby Cox:

    1. One boy gave Gowser dogs abuse IMO looked good with a wise head on him looking to try and start something, much better than any performance last season

    2. Another very harsh on Mcdaid who was clearly not enjoying the left wing (changed later on and was far better)

    3. Another Huffed when the young lads came on... well by f**k did they shut his puss! If only those lads were here last season 16 years old and fighting like Spartans! Hope we can develop them right and hopefully McPake is the man to do that.

Im still feeling we lack that little bit of depth ideally 4-5 but at this point Id love to feel we can bring in at least another defender midfielder and striker with an outside chance of pushing for a play off final.

Overall absolutely glorious seeing the first game at Dens with the new team beating a team with body builders and powerlifters in Day-Glo[emoji106]

  7. We’ve had 6 kits (home and away) with Macron, and only really one of them hasn’t been great, the rest have been belters.

Far, far better than the bang average templates that Joma or Adidas provide

Totally agree I’m glad Dundee have went with macron the training gear alone is quality and not the cheap Sunday league Puma we had.

The Queens kits last year were gorgeous especially for a centenary edition [emoji122]

  8. Glad he’s gone but still hoping to punt Curran and get a few others options in.
Desperately needing some strikers in but mostly have the fear over the goalkeeping position.

    When we signed:

    Curran - Yinited Laughing

Hamilton (paid for) - Hearts dancing, laughing running home to please their better halves
  9. Having seen yinited easily pump brechin the night... friendly or not my concerns are further growing, i love nothing more than to be proved wrong but we just need to strengthen badly, pre season should be both fitness and working on game management so ideally to be looking for us to score more than 1 or 2 against a part time team no offence to Brechin whose ground i love going to, however Im hoping Mcpake sends a rocket up the arses of our team to start taking chances or at least making chances.

I doubt we will bring many if anyone in prior to league starting, but like i said prove me wrong.

  10. I think Hamilton will be our lot keeper wise and it will be fine. We need a striker far more than a keeper
Have to agree with what others above have said about our chances. Those expecting us to go up this year will be disappointed in my view. The best we can hope for is to establish a stable and  developing core ahead of a push next year or the one after.
I'm personally completely fine with that. I think finally getting our shit together again on the playing side is a lot more important than going up first time. Doesn't happen in one window. Takes years.
    Still. I've been wrong before.

My thoughts exactly, last time we got promoted we had the likes of Peaso, Gavin Rae, Mcallister and even Nade, players who were strong in midfield and who knew how to score, good foundations were there and were built on as the season progressed.
  11. Also i hate to be the voice of doom already but i think we may struggle without a few extra bodies in midfield and we badly, badly need a striker im all for Mcpake selling the feel good factor but we have a team of players who are prone to injuries (lengthy ones at that).

    Just my opinion of course.

Although i am glad we have players that are familiar with the league and not from the Romanian 3rd division that had a trial at arsenal, just need a few extra to bolster the squad.

  12. I know it's only a friendly and should be treated as an exercise. Regardless I still have this lingering dread that we are going to have one of these seasons where we play well but just can't find the net. For me, we really need strikers. (Pointing out the obvious) and a goalkeeper that commands his box. I really hope mcpake has something lined up.

Agreed i personally couldnt give a f**k about the tippy tappy style of play, give me shots from 25 yards out and scrappy tap ins and all in between as long as there is goals and a decent defence i couldnt care about the style of play we are not trying to improve the image of the national team just get us promoted through graft and goals!
  13. This is the top I seen. As I said before turned out it was a training top and only seen to the badge beforehand.
Shop card machine issue fixed and the new tops look much better in person.
Also bumped into a yank in the club shop who's wife was telling me and the Mrs about his custom made DFC engraved headboard [emoji23]🤣[emoji23]. Never change Murica.

Bought the new home top, first top ive bought in over a decade feel like a kid again! Loving the macron selection so far.

Now just need a blinder of a season solid promotion by march, all tayside derby wins for us and Shankland fails a drugs test prior to day one... and no doubt ill wake up from that awesome dream tomorrow needing to change the sheets.
  14. Unfortunately it’s very rare for a team going down to bounce straight back up. All potential candidates know this and they must also know that failure to come back up will probably mean they will be sacked. If you were smart and wanted the job, then the start of the 2020 or 2021 season would be the time to sign on.
I think the board might agree that an immediate return is unlikely and will budget and choose a manager accordingly. It might be cheaper long term to stick with the current management team and let them take all the fall for not going up next season - as long as they put the foundations in by blooding some young players, then it might be we start 2021 with some momentum.
you also have to remember that the board want us to play attractive football, whatever that is. I’m not sure that that is the style that is needed to get us promoted from the Championship and maybe they have to fail again before they realize it.
Hard times ahead, but surely it’s what we all want deep down inside. Finishing 5th or 6th every year and getting beat in cup semi-finals would bore the pants of me.

Why is there a high percentage of glory hunters in this country? Because the cheeks have won the most overall.

Plenty of kids now going about in man city tops... because they are winning (albeit with some stylish play).

For us cup semi finals every year for the next 7 years= more money and something to look forward to instead of the likes of this season where we were pumped in all cup competitions from teams from the championship and when teams from our own league came to town we bent over and gave them the keys to dens and jockey’s jet pack.

Just my opinion of course however i think our board need to get a director of football, a new team completely and someone who can motivate players to win and play for the shirt instead of “the players are a bit low this week and I’ve given them some time in their safe space (fortnite, nightclubs and extra days off).”

    *breathes*

Our next manager will be Randomguy and Granny Danger if Nelms is still at the helm! And reads these forums.

  15. Hamilton

    Kerr
    Davies
    Meekings
    Ralph

Would be a decent enough base for a championship squad IMO.

As long as JM isn’t in charge I don’t actually care who’s in the team.

Kerr and Ralph two players who are young and committed to improving and will (with the right manager)

    Hamilton- nope

Davies and Meekings have bones that are made from kinder eggs, if we could pass on Davies passion for headering bricks on to a decent CB for next season that would be ideal!

  16. I dislike Dundee through natural footballing rivalry.
I fucking despise both of them for reasons that go beyond competitive football matches.

Indeed my family have both sides of the dundee divide but we wouldnt fall into the realms of the ugly twins because of a game played by 11 overpaid men and a leather ball!
  17. Literally reek havoc on towns and cities across the land and then wonder why their allocations get cut.

Love the dees and arabs uniting to condemn the two unwiped arse cheeks from the weeg and their glory hunting/ ambulance chasing/ always the victim never the accused followers!
