So you have no evidence that there was a grade of Junior football when Larkhall were formed. I have put forward a source that teams were Junior, it comes from a renowned group of historians. Also the club itself class themselves as the oldest Junior club. Have you got the evidence to prove that they are telling a great big lie?

Easily answered. The only club appearing in the first Junior Cup competition and still playing today is LARKHALL THISTLE.

I think with the recent signings we are not out the running for the league.  Scottish I can’t see anyone competing with us.

Well, your name is not on that trophy, nor indeed many others.

I did like the wee bust of Sammy Cox. ( A fine player ) If Larkie did that of our famous players, there would be no room for spectators. You have a very good team, the opportunity for you is there in this competition, however longer term the demographics just do not work. Small support cannot sustain your current level.

I think the Darvel lad forgets that the Larkhall lads have been playing well in the cup's with wins over Drumchapel and Blantyre in the Indico Comms Cup. These sides are sitting second and third in the first division.

Terrific young team. Ordinarily Larkhall Thistle are a much bigger and more illustrious club than Darvel.

Hopefully have a better support for than the away side this week.  Quite worried as season tickets don’t cover the game and then you’ve got Christmas shopping.  It really is a worry at moment, is there anything the club can do to better promote it as lack of gate receipts surely have to be hurting us? We can’t be relying on QTS bailing us out all the time need to be self sufficient.

Larky will turn up in force.

When you move outside the west how stringent were ground requirements in the Junior Cup in years gone by? If anybody ever saw clubs from the old Fife league like Tulliallan Thistle, Clackmannan or Halbeath play they'll know what I'm talking about. Finnart hope to gain control of the Crownpoint facility that Clyde are also after so they have a plan and good luck to them on that.

That would be great for them, after all they are a Bridgeton team. Too many clubs chasing too few facilities.

    Told you that on Monday.

Outside of an emergency these grounds should be hunted long term. Best that might happen would be a couple of shipping containers (Gartcairn) having a few seats and a bit of cover in them. Lavvies or catering forget it.

The Blazers of course couldn't care less whether you turned up or not.

The oldest team in the Scottish Junior Cup- the only one remaining from the inaugural competition - defeated the youngest.

I know Finnart do great stuff with youngsters, but these "public park" teams really need to upgrade.

Finnarts players lost their composure, more could have walked sooner, although they have some fine young players .

  7. Some big games tonight for the promotion challengers.

Hoping for a Larkie win, unsure now for other fixtures- defeats for Lanark and the Vics ( with a Larkie win ) would put promotion tantalisingly near, however a Lanark win plus a V of L win would make the title more of a possibility.

  8. FINNART 1  LARKHALL THISTLE  1           played at Greenfield Park, Shettleston.

Sluggish display by Jags, however Finnart were worth the point.

Looks like V of C for the title now with AWR and ourselves going up, hopefully no more slip-ups.

Game played at Shettleston as park unavailable to Finnart, apparently- makes one wonder why there is a team in the league who cannot guarantee their own playing field. No facilities or catering for the Larkie supporters who follow us in such good numbers, as there was a private function in the Club. Standards should be higher.

Having said that, Finnart looked well organised and a decent team.

  9. DALRY THISTLE V  LARKHALL THISTLE

I hope this postponed fixture dosent come back to bite us.

I am pleased our away fixture to Finnart is now being played at Shettleston.

Hoping for a Larkie win , looking at the table now I think the top 3 now are the most likely to go up, but a lot of football to be played yet with interesting clashes at the top.

  10. LARKHALL THISTLE 5   IRVINE VICTORIA  0

Emphatic win for the Jags keeps them right in the mix.

2 first -half penalties followed by 3 excellent second- half goals sealed the win.

Vics did not look as strong as they did in the reverse fixture; Jags have now completed the double over them.

    Albert up next.

    Gow 1 Larky 0

Gow scored early in first half. Had a penalty saved. Larky down to ten men midway through second half. Larky never really threatened our goal to much.

Brings Gow back into promotion hunt.

Result was perfect antidote to losing late goal down there to lose 5-4.

Goal was 2 yards offside and penalty - which led to one of our players being red-carded- was a blatant dive.

    Shocking refereeing.

However other results went our way.

Good result. Well done. I've fancied VoC to go up as champions so could have done with an away win tonight tbh.  We are there in two weeks time. Every point critical now for the top 5

Had the strange spectacle of V o  C players fighting amongst themselves and one of the players involved, a strapping lad, demanding to be substituted which he duly was and off he stormed.

    TOMORROW

LARKHALL THISTLE  V  VALE OF CLYDE

Looking forward to a great clash against a good team. Somethings got to give over the next 2 weeks in this division.

LARKHALL THISTLE 3    VALE OF CLYDE 1

The Jags completed the double over the Vale in a hard- fought pulsating encounter only secure by a last minute penalty.

2-0 at halftime, with Vale scoring a great free-kick just into the second half, and exerting pressure thereafter, a real contest.

    Looking good

I have no doubts Vof C will be going up

Next 3 games for are going to go a long way to decide if you go up.  VoC, Gow and Vics.

We've still got AWR, Gow and VoC to play so lots of points to be dropped by the top teams, one way or other.

    TOMORROW

LARKHALL THISTLE  V  VALE OF CLYDE

Don't be surprised as we were shite today, lacked creativity and no cutting edge, didn't really trouble home keeper.

Dalry had a game plan which they stubbornly stuck to and could have won at the death from a free kick which forced our keeper into his one and only save of the game.

3 red cards in a game which was a hard slog for both teams.

Have to pick up full points next week before we travel to you guys.

Its hugely tight.  None of the five teams can afford to drop many more points.

BTW I spent 6 very happy years living in Irvine.
