  1. Whatever side McCall puts out this week should obviously have Hamilton at CH and whatever RB is fit (other than Lyon who despite some saying he is ok, he’s not he’s a liability over 90 mins) then they should start.
I would also have Scullion nowhere near wide Left position, does not have the ability to play there effectively.
What we badly miss and have done for many years is a central midfield player who bombs forward and commits defenders. In fact not since Bryson which is ridiculous. To many similar none effective clones play centrally nowadays. Murdoch is very good and should be the sitting controlling central midfield player. Could Scullion play that central role next to him rather than Grant who is forever tidy and nothing more. Scullion certainly has the fitness and pace to at least try that?

Allan has to start as there is little option but might not be a bad thing as I think h needs a run, but I’d like to see someone playing closer to him, not Rennie though. Hopefully Redfern starts too.

  2. Never saw much in Young and his performance mid week against Forfar last season was awful, along with most others in a Clyde strip tbf that night, but generally he was lacking in any composer and simply not good enough.
However, what it might show is that playing your CF consistently will probably result in a couple of goals.

McCall has to stop chopping and changing his CF every single week. For me, despite his form I’d start Allan every week for next 3-4 games no matter what, he needs to play back into some kind of form and there only one way to do that.

  3. Its the discussion I have with my Rangers / Celtic friends all the time who insist the Referee is against them.. oh the irony!

I argue that it’s the standard of both referee and Assistant (it’s a linesman, I hate that term) that is at an all time low. We see it every week and it is truly awful.

The guys running the line are just as culpable, not only do they get things wrong, they no longer “help” the ref with decisions. It was common years ago for refs to consult the lineman then change a decision either way.. NEVER happens now. Obviously with VAR in premier league it’s different but in our Diddy league it should happen.

Some of the decisions I’ve seen at our games have been mind boggling.

However, please note I’m not deflecting from my team’s and our Management’s performances, they have been hugely disappointing and that has to change very quickly.

  4. Please can we just put the B teams in a big lead box, sealed and put at the bottom of the deepest sea we can find.

It just won’t go away and the usual suspects just try a different argument to get their way.
Our clubs have to be strong and continue to stand against this, certainly doesn’t help when it’s folk like Clement and his resultant hoard start spouting this rubbish, coupled with the Lowland League sell out and whoever decided to shoehorn B teams into the diddy cup which has once again provided oxygen for this arrogant wish for the “Big teams”ultimately to have teams in every league in Scotland.
    We can’t let this happen

Edinburgh City highly likely to be relegated this season as East Kilbride will be too strong for them come the play-offs and i don't see any of the Highland League teams beating them.

I think the current system is fair and it shouldn't be automatic relegation similar to England as the finances aren't on par as our neighbours down south.

What is the most interesting thing is none of the teams that have been relegated have came back up or been near to it.

I wouldn’t be so sure EK would win playoff against any L2 sides, don’t think Kennedy had the tactical ability to navigate 2 leg play off.

We're apparently playing Stenny in a closed door friendly tonight.

Hopefully get goals from one or 2 of the strikers!

That’s good idea.. hopefully we can use rolling subs and rotate the forward players till McCall sees some semblance of an attack partnership or at least a combination that looks remotely dangerous.

ok you have also changed your pick.

All player please say it's a revised pick when you do so.

I understand there is some confusion but week 3 is 24/25th August. The weekend of 17/18 was not a full card as the league cup was on and some teams did not have a game.

    Apologies, yes revised pick

  8. The issue of creativity in midfield has been a problem for years now, this year with all the midfield options we have it’s still an issue.. maybe I’m going to be controversial here; but I’d love to see Murdoch as our holding midfield player and have another beside him either bombing on or capable of taking players on and creating space. That would mean that it’s Ray Grant who drops out. Obviously that could only happen if we found such a player from somewhere. As I say controversial as Grant is a good and popular player but to my mind we move the ball too slowly and from far a too deep possession.
Im also not blaming Ray Grant for our lack of goals, just making an observation and comment on our midfield.
On the Lee Hamilton debate, he may well have played full back previously but he is far and away our best CH, I’d go as far as to say he is our best player (Murdoch possibly becoming that) not having him at CH both in terms of ability but marshalling the back 4 is a ludicrous decision.

  9. First of all before I rant int McCall and the players for that awful performance… well done to Stirling for playing us like fiddles today. After they got their goal they simply let us have the ball for most of the game, they seemed to realise that we were never going to break them down.

Starting lineup typical McCall over thinking and shoehorning players in. Starting Hamilton at RB is absolutely baffling. Best CH we’ve had in years and stuck out of position, then compounds it by taking him off at halftime and leaving Howie on. Even worse when you consider Hynes was in the squad, an actual effing RB!

Scullion being asked to be a winger and taking his fullback on, utter nonsense again a winger on the bench.
Rennie, back constantly to his initial no contributing garbage. How he stayed on the park for 90+ mins is just unbelievable.

Jordan Allan is a shadow of the player we first watched. Whether some might say he’s isolated is deflecting from the fact he has been poor, really poor.
Unfortunately Logan D looked like a CH playing up front when he came on.
Hugely disappointing start to the league campaign, played against teams tipped to struggle and we have been a mile off. Something definitely not right. Not even played the so called better sides yet!

On this evidence, despite McCall getting a small fortune in his back pocket and spent a relative fortune and it’s not working. Far too early to panic but McCall has come out and explain his selections and substations, particularly after  today.

  10. Absolutely no way I’d have Kinnear, Hamilton, Grant, Scullion or Robson anywhere near this game if I could avoid it.
We have the squad to “rest” them so give others game time. That includes Allan who needs to play his way back and hopefully scoring goals on the back of it.

I’m baffled by the “Stranraer deserved a point” patter. We should have scored 4 or 5 in the second half; a combination of poor finishing/decision making (through on goal twice with the cut back on and choosing to shoot), goal line clearances and good saves from their keeper.

Completely agree, they had a fair bit of the ball and created some chances but nothing that really had me worried, what did was the fact we were so flat in the first half. Kinnear made good saves but again saves that a decent keeper should make.

I agree with others that Foster looked good player and I was happy he came off but again don’t think Hamilton was getting anything like a runaround, yes had to work hard to contain him like the good defender he.

  12. In the end, happy with that. First half we just couldn’t get going against the wind and as others say Big Foster was a bit of a handful, certainly not running riot as some seem to be saying. As expected Hamilton coped ok with him. Also don’t agree the Robson struggled, I thought he was very good actually (opinions of course).
The 20-25 mins after the break we were very decent and credit for the changes made. That’s the huge difference this year, subs that can make a difference when required. Also grinding out a 1-0 win in those conditions were unthinkable in recent years.

All in all an important result even this early, we really needed to get a win on the board early doors so we move onto next week.

What exactly is inaccurate about the updates? It’s been made clear that it’s an ongoing process and confidential details cannot be disclosed at this stage.

Please stop talking nonsense and trying to create trouble whether there is none to be found.

100% this…also, it’s  not JA that’s leading the negotiations. Again at least get fact right before talking nonsense.

  14. My view on central defence is that Lee Hamilton starts as CH every day of the week. Arguably best centre half in the league or even L1, I’d like to see him and McKay together, no harm to Howie who is obviously very decent but I think McKay’s physicality might give him the nod.

My main point and repeating myself Hamilton starts at CH, beyond me why McCall is moving him around to RB?

  15. Hopefully our team on paper turns up like we expect it to, however first league game is pretty much a free hit for everyone anything can happen, much as I’d be disappointed if we loose I certainly wouldn’t panic, generally takes about 5-7 games before the league begins to show where teams are. Our biggest strength this year is for first time in many years there is depth and a bench.

  16. Pretty much agree with that starting lineup.
Obviously Cudihay being the issue, he started the season really well but as ever his fitness is unreliable, not a dig at him btw, not his fault it just where he is now.

If budget permits and I’m not sure it would, I’d love a creative CM in. Limiting Cudihay to 30 mins at the end of most games may be the way forward for him now. At least we would get consistent run game minutes out of him and he is a very decent player when fit.

  17. Was a great night to have my first live view of this team.. was so encouraging to say the least.  I was almost forgetting why I enjoyed football after the absolute horror shows we have had to endure for years recently. What difference having a team set up with players who know what they are doing and an actual game plan.

All round team performance, can’t add to what’s been sad before on Logan, delighted for the big man and hope it continues.

Back 4 last night before kick off had me a little concerned, not because Hamilton was at RB but mainly because he wasn’t on his dominant position in the centre of defence. However McKay and Howie did really well, as actually did Lee who really is a fantastic player!
Barry Cudihay was immense all evening continuing his great start to the season. Not mentioned much, but I actually think Robbie Leitch did a lot of great work which went unnoticed, I think given a run could be an important player, he seemed more comfortable in a deeper position?

As said very encouraging with no failures, far from it.. huge number of options now  with this squad. Still early days but looking forward to, at very least having an exciting, energetic forward thinking team to watch this season.

Only downside with Ray for me is he rarely wins a 50/50 challenge. Otherwise very good, though.

I’d definitely agree with that, him and Cudihay are decent, no more than that and although haven’t seen the other (new) central midfield players (if indeed any of them are central players) live yet, as I’ve said before and I know I’m being unrealistic given the budget already spent but we really need a creative centre midfield player.
