  1. I'm wondering in future, if a club does a Rangers (most likely Rangers tbh) and has to reform as a new club, would they have to start at the SOS or EOS league rather than in SPFL2?
  2. It's the same as changing lanes on the motorway. When Easthouses left, the future of the EOS league didn't look great, now things are changing so they've reapplied. Nothing wrong with that.
  3. It would be interesting to see how often any of the floodlight-owning clubs have requested to play a match under them in the last couple of seasons. The only one I know about was Ardrossan (v Ardeer??) last season.
  4. For any historians - why were all non league clubs in the East not in the juniors together? What was the reason behind two grades of football occupying the same geographical area?
  5. In that scenario it would be interesting to see if any of the present top division Ayrshire sides would break ranks and go for it. You could quite easily end up with a situation like you have in the East, where it looks likely that some of the historically bigger clubs such as Linlithgow might eventually have to join at the bottom, while clubs from lower divisions can now enter at the top.
  6. Is it? Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Who really cares what is bigger? I don't think 90% of football fans in this country could tell you who won either last year.
  7. I think it's a great idea for a lot of clubs but I can fully understand why Talbot (for example) have said they don't fancy it. I'd be more than happy for Kilwinning to be one of the main pushers for a WOS league and I think in a town of 20k+ there is a lot of potential. The same goes for a few other clubs, for example Irvine Meadow (in a town of 40k+) could do well out of it. But these two clubs aren't traditionally the most successful in Ayrshire so it's not as if they are swapping success year in year out for a shot at promotion.
  8. No, the argument is about what is good for certain clubs and what isn't. What Arbroath fans like isn't necessarily what Talbot fans like. You like where Arbroath are because it's all you've ever known. But going between League 1 & 2, playing in a national league and the occasional foray into rounds 4 or 5 of the Scottish Cup might suit you, but it doesn't sound attractive to a lot of others. You don't seem to be able to understand this. Different people have different tastes - and that's actually ok. You seem to look upon those who don't share your views with ridicule. And if you don't then that's how it looks.
  9. It doesn't really. Talbot at best could be a SPFL 1 or 2 side. They simply don't have the population base to get higher than this. I'm not really seeing where these bigger trophies are. When was the last time one of the current SPFL 1 or 2 sides won one of the major competitions?
  10. All very cloak and dagger stuff so far. Hopefully the Buffs make the move first. All it will take is 2 or 3 of the existing West Premier clubs to do it and the whole dam will burst. The East will be decimated after this season if Bonnyrigg and/or Bo'ness go. I'd be surprised if Troon aren't one of the clubs looking seriously at moving. They have a good setup which is always improving, an expanding youth section and great transport links.
  11. Not really. Some of the West clubs have been in existence for over a century. Another couple of years facing the same big junior sides isn't making much of a difference in the long term.
  12. Then hopefully Kilwinning will be one of the first to make the jump.
  13. There was no time frame set in the statement. Setting up a WOS league for next season is unachievable but there are at least two other big junior clubs in the West who are interested in the idea. I would be surprised if discussions between West clubs aren't taking place just now about the feasibility of it.
  14. To be pedantic, it's the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup. He was closer than you [emoji6]
  15. Hmm I just tend to look for the football posts and skim over the rest. I'm away back to the junior section. Wish me luck.
  16. I know you guys put up with a lot of shit on here, but come on - you're better than this.
  17. The populations of the towns that League 2 clubs play in are mostly far higher than those containing Highland, Lowland and Junior teams, with only a few exceptions, e.g Irvine Meadow/Vics, Linlithgow, Kilwinning, Kirkintilloch. If you asked most fans of League 2 clubs their thoughts on playing in a regionalised league they would see it as less prestigious and a backwards step, regardless of any potential financial benefit. In fact I doubt any studies have ever been done to explore the benefits and drawbacks of such a reorganization.
  18. Fans of League 1 and 2 clubs who post on this section seem to love playing in a national league. Judging by previous contributions I doubt you'd get many of them wanting to play in a regionalised league.
  19. I was standing behind the goals at Bellsdale and it was tight for space. Bearing in mind it was a two-legged semi and the attendance IIRC was around 1700-1800 - I don't think it was too bad.
  20. Killie last wore hoops in 1988/89. The previous few decades saw a fairly irregular change between hoops and stripes.
